Chapter 937: Chapter 919: Xiu Repair Light Powder

A series of events seemed to improve after the support from the Profound Church arrived.

After all, talent is key; without people, nothing can be done.

After chatting briefly with Lorenzo, Lann also learned what had happened at the Highwall Church during his absence.

Just as he warned before acting alone, the two princes and sages who had already controlled most of the Inner City would certainly think of eradicating the ’rebels’ on the high walls.

In order to fully control this Sacred City of Fire.

Elite knights and mages descended from the inner city to launch surprise attacks on those entrenched in the Highwall Church.

Their methods of action didn’t differ much from Lann’s predictions.

Even in boundless darkness, they could attack from the shadows without lighting torches or lamps.

This method indeed put Lorenzo and Priestess Emma in great disadvantage.

So much so that Lorenzo himself was significantly injured.

But ultimately, the knights standing with the clergy could receive miraculous restoration and support. The opponent’s mages seemed to shoot soul arrows that were unstoppable.

But ultimately they didn’t have the clergy-like logistical support to sustain their knights.

Thus, they could only be defeated in the brutal tug of war.

”So, is that how your armor got so damaged in the tug of war?”

Lann looked around at the Losric Knight Armor on Lorenzo, with sword marks cutting through the armor plates, and lance penetrations directly creating holes.

Yet beneath the damaged armor, Lorenzo’s body remained unscathed, enough to prove the miracle of the clergy wasn’t just a void reputation.

Especially when knights could restrain their injuries with the Power of Soul, the miracle’s restorative ability was better showcased.

”Yes, that battle was tough. After all, those attacking us were once battle brothers from the same Knight Order. We knew each other’s styles, techniques, and habits.”

Lorenzo sighed with a sense of nostalgia.

As he spoke, he placed a large cloth bag on the ground and opened it.

In the bag’s opening was a kind of powder emitting a magical golden glow.

And the surrounding knights instinctively gathered around, grabbing varying amounts of glow powder, then naturally making way for others to take some.

Lann noticed that the knights who took more of the golden glow powder had more damaged equipment.

Lorenzo simply stood by the big cloth bag, scooping up a handful of golden glow powder and sprinkling it on himself.

”If it weren’t for Archbishop Klimte bringing this [Repair Powder], we would’ve been forced to head to the armory on the high wall to switch gear at the Knight Order’s reserve weapon stash.”

”Just thinking about the possible encounters on the way makes my heart race and stomach churn. Especially when the guys’ armor and weapons are broken to this extent.”

Lorenzo said with some relief.

Meanwhile, beside him, Lann was entirely not listening, just watching those pieces of armor and weapons covered with [Repair Powder].

Initially, Lann only thought that the [Repair Powder], after using magic, was a convenient tool for repairing armor and weapons.

But when these glittering golden powders began to take effect, the Demon Hunter discovered how absurd the principle of this thing was.

Like a video being rewound, the damage on the armor returns along its original course of breaking, missing pieces flying out from somewhere, splicing into the damaged spots.

This isn’t simple ’repair’...this is a reversal of time!

These people are using time-reversing magic as a weapon and armor repair tool?

Lann instantly felt a sense of absurdity, like using a hydrogen bomb to make soup.

Of course, considering the difficulty, the gap between realizing the hydrogen bomb and ’time reversal’ only made the absurdity more palpable.

But immediately, the Demon Hunter calmed his sense of absurdity with good mental and psychological composure.

This is a world where order and rules are sustained upon flames.

Its instability is something Lann had never seen before.

But aside from making people’s lives harsh and challenging, this instability does have some extra benefit.

In an unstable world, people have more opportunities to observe and understand knowledge and theories concerning world fundamentals.

Such as time.

Looking at Lorenzo and his knights, the Repair Powder, which can reverse weapon and armor to perfect condition.

Though they seemed happy gaining it, not to the point of excitement, but rather used it skillfully, showing it’s not their first time.

It appears, this item isn’t extraordinarily precious in this world, at least not among Losric Knight Order members.

”Now the weather is improving, which is good news; at least you don’t have to fight those damn sages in complete darkness.”

Having simply slapped two handfuls of Repair Powder on his armor and greatsword, Lorenzo’s equipment was renewed.

While adjusting his armor, he spoke to Lann.

”Ilyushil’s reinforcements are yet to arrive, only sending a few imps at the city gate as porters. Whereas the Profound Church’s reinforcements seem only focused on bringing back Saint Gecide...ah!”

It’s evident that Lorenzo leans towards rallying strength to wipe out the princes and sages in the Inner City.

But now, he is ultimately the Knight Captain, not the former Elite Great Sword Knight Captain.

The Elite Knight Captain can disregard everything, charge into battle, relying solely on his bravery and martial power, which is enough to secure his position.

However, as the Knight Captain, he has no choice but to learn to consider matters from multiple aspects.

Complaints and grievances can be aired, but ultimately, he must still follow the agreed-upon plan.

Thus, after a sigh, Lorenzo continued with his official duties.

”According to our earlier discussion, you and the people from the Profound Church will soon head to the Inner City to rescue Saint Gecide... Tch, at this point, why not just call her Princess?”

The Knight Captain said while smacking his lips, and Lann, now playing his role, stood on the side of the Profound Church, thus fulfilling his assigned part.

”Please watch your words; no one has acknowledged this relationship yet.”

Demon Hunter mimicked Leonard and Klimte’s conversation at that time.

”Anyway.” Lorenzo wasn’t bothered by such trifling issues; he waved his hand.

”To preserve the strength and foothold of the loyalists within Losric City, we cannot provide major support to your actions. The main force for this operation will be the people from the Profound Church.”

”Break in, find the person, launch a surprise attack, and take the person out—this is the process.”

”The only thing I can guarantee is that ’once you return to the high wall, the pursuers from the Inner City will be powerless against you.’”

Lann had no objections: ”Understood.”

Although Lorenzo hadn’t spent much time with Lann, they had somewhat come to terms with each other’s temperaments.

He knew that the Demon Hunter’s understanding was genuine, not just words expressing frustration.

The Knight Captain removed his ring and handed it to the Demon Hunter.

”Moreover, take this.”

Lann reached out to receive it; it was a ring with a white silhouette of a knight carved on its face.

[Knight’s Ring], symbolizing the identity of the Knight Captain of Losric.

”Take this ring into the Inner City; if you encounter any surviving loyalists, reveal it. They will assist you accordingly, but I also hope you can guide them here... Probably a few of them might still be alive, right?”

At the end, Lorenzo’s expression carried a mix of hope and sadness.

He realized that even if there were still lingering loyal Knights in the Inner City, their numbers were certainly dwindling.

”I will.”

Lann nodded in agreement, simultaneously wearing the ring on his hand.

This symbol of the Knight Captain of Losric, undoubtedly a piece of equipment with supernatural powers, made Lann feel a slight increase in his physical strength once worn.

The enhanced magnitude wasn’t substantial; after all, this ring’s primary function is to ’mark the identity of the Knight Captain.’

”However... you’ve lent me the symbol of the Knight Captain’s identity that easily?”

Lann spoke, noticing a peculiar expression on Lorenzo’s face.

”Quickly take it away... Last time, those traitors came and specifically targeted me! Everyone was wearing Knight Order armor!”

Lann raised his eyebrows.

Understood.

In this situation, indeed, the Knight Captain was the primary target.

-----------------

Although the flame had reignited because of Rudus taking the Throne of Want, anyone could tell this was but a temporary respite.

Including Rudus, there were four special Lords of Cinder meant to serve as a safeguard during the interlude of the Fire Transmission Ceremony.

And now, only one of the four ’safeguards’ was in place.

The situation was grim, hence Klimte had no intention of delaying his actions.

The reinforcements of the Profound Church had joined forces with the previous Inner City assault towards the high wall, and shortly thereafter, after less than a night’s rest, they prepared to storm the Inner City to rescue the Saintess.

Lann rested for five hours, this time’s judgment benefited from Mentos’s biological clock, especially given the prior darkness made it almost impossible to discern the time.

And now, with the flame rekindled, the world finally saw a long-absent daylight once more.

No blood-like eclipses, nor darkness where the sun had disappeared—just a normal daytime!

Many knights and clergy even knelt in the sunlight, praying and singing hymns.

Yet it was unfortunate; even though daytime had reemerged, due to Ausloes spreading the dragon transformation experiment, the entire city remained largely devoid of living people.

Conversely, those who had been petrified revealed increasingly bizarre forms over time.

They reached skyward as if pleading for something.

Some severe cases not only had roots extending from their bodies, but their legs had fused, appearing to be wooden and growing upwards.

And where they took root in the ground, black tar-like viscous liquids, akin to tree sap, accumulated around their roots.

While daylight brought hope, it simultaneously revealed the severe circumstances lurking in the dark.
