Be Gentle, My Master

“There’s nothing that can’t be discussed with others… Can I ask you something?” Nangong Xu took a deep breath, bearing the pain, and spoke softly.

“Your mother? I’ve never heard you mention your mother before.”

Feeling his body suddenly tighten up considerably, Baili Xia pretended not to notice and continued to scrape the dead skin.

They say when the heart aches too much, the body doesn’t feel as much pain.

Mentioning his mother clearly caused Nangong Xu great distress.

Could this be used to divert his pain?

“Mother…” Nangong Xu closed his eyes, seemingly truly reluctant to talk about the past in front of others.

But Baili Xia wasn’t just anyone, at least not to him.

He’d said he wouldn’t refuse her requests.

Taking another deep breath, he finally murmured, “Mother was a mistress my father had outside, someone who could not be included in the family registry, a person who couldn’t be seen in public. There’s nothing good to say about her.”

Baili Xia tightened her fingertips, the impact on her heart was fleeting before she continued her task.

So, he was an illegitimate child, no wonder he was reluctant to talk about the past.

But she still probed deeply into his history, unwilling to let any detail go.

“And you?

You’re your father’s son, don’t you have any right to inheritance at all?

Now, it seems like the Nangong Family is all in Nangong Yun’s hands.”

“I gave it up voluntarily.” Money and possessions were trivial to him.

“Why have you always stayed so devotedly by Uncle’s side?

Doesn’t Nangong Yun always say something about the Nangong Familyowing Uncle?”

“My father was poisoned and gravely injured while saving Mr.

Xiaojiu.

You could say that my father’s death was indirectly caused by Mr.

Xiaojiu.”

“But you don’t resent Uncle at all, even remain extremely loyal to him.”

Nangong Xu glanced at her then closed his eyes again, “Why should I hate Mr.

Xiaojiu?

He didn’t want it to happen.”

Baili Xia’s gaze lingered on his face, those fan-like long lashes wet with his own sweat.

Stuck beneath his eyelids, indescribably beautiful.

Such a quiet, unassuming character made people feel more compassion for him when they looked at him.

His father died because of Uncle, yet he held no grievances against him.

Such magnanimity, how many in the world could compare?

On the contrary, she really didn’t believe that Nangong Yun, the petty woman, could be as forgiving as he was.

Her father could be said to have died indirectly because of Uncle, yet she held no grievances?

Could it be that love was truly so grand, grand enough to make her forget everything?

“Master, will you really never return to the Nangong Family?” Does this mean he now has no relatives left?

Between him and Nangong Yun, she saw little affection.

“Probably not going back.” The old man despised him, an illegitimate son; what was the point in returning?

That soft sigh from Baili Xia was so faint that even she might not hear it.

Perhaps due to the pain or reminiscing about the past, Nangong Xu’s tensed body gradually relaxed.

Baili Xia, taking advantage of his current condition, quickly sped up her actions.

After cleaning the wound, she immediately applied medicine and rebandaged him.

After finishing the bandaging, she started massaging the surrounding acupoints to accelerate the healing of his wounds.

After all the turmoil, when everything was done, Baili Xia realized that Nangong Xu had already closed his eyes and fallen deep into sleep.
