Be Gentle, My Master

Baili Xia had been in a daze these past few days, but she knew that Nangong Xu usually visited in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

However, today, she stayed awake all afternoon, and now, as evening approached, he still hadn’t appeared.

In the past few days, when she occasionally managed to see his face clearly, it always seemed unwell, as if he was ill.

Thinking of his complexion made Baili Xia even more uneasy.

Bei Tianyou glanced at his wristwatch.

“I’m not very familiar with the personnel at Sihai Residence, but around this time, your uncle should be returning.”

“Are you leaving?” Baili Xia followed him back to the room.

“I really am leaving this time,” Bei Tianyou said, looking at her with a somewhat meaningful gaze.

“I mean, I’m going back to Bei Miao.”

Because he had been treating her scars, the trip he was supposed to have started three days ago had been stubbornly delayed until tonight.

Nevertheless, as he said, Mu Xiaojiu had indeed done quite a lot for him.

Of course, with Baili Xia being injured like this, he would help wherever he could; after all, the girl had called him “Brother You.”

Initially, Baili Xia had been eager to check on Nangong Xu, feeling that something about him was off, but she couldn’t tell if it was just her illness or a blurred vision that had led to a mistake.

Now that Bei Tianyou mentioned returning to Bei Miao, she suddenly felt reluctant to part with him.

For some reason, it seemed to her that this wasn’t the first time she felt reluctant about him leaving, even though they hadn’t known each other for very long.

“I’ve brought you a manuscript,” Bei Tianyou moved to the couch where he had his briefcase.

He took a notebook out of it and offered it to her.

“These are all my findings on poison studies over the past few years, personally handwritten and unique in the world.”

“For me?” The words “unique in the world” made Baili Xia feel suddenly uneasy.

The gift was too valuable, containing so many favors.

Why would he give it to her?

“It’s not really a gift,” he said.

“Once you’ve finished with it, remember to return it to me when you visit Bei Miao next time.”

Bei Tianyou’s gaze shone brightly as he stuffed the manuscript into her hands.

“But I… I might not necessarily go to Bei Miao.” To be honest, she had absolutely no intention of visiting Bei Miao.

Although the place wasn’t so far as to be unreachable, why would she go there without a reason?

“Do you want me to visit you?” she asked with a smile.

Bei Tianyou didn’t respond, but instead, took out a medicine scoop from his briefcase and handed it to her.

Before she could ask, he explained proactively, “Not far from Imperial College, there is a large pharmacy owned by the Miao Domain chain.”

“I know,” Baili Xia nodded.

“The first time I met Brother You, it was there.”

A bright light flickered in Bei Tianyou’s eyes, a hint of pleasure visible.

“I’ve already spoken to the manager there.

They have a dedicated workspace specifically reserved for you.”

“For me?” What did this mean?

Why would he reserve a workspace for her out of the blue?

“It’s for you to study poisons.” He picked up his briefcase, ready to leave.

“Also, whenever you go there to study, you must bring Mr. Nangong with you. You can’t go alone.”

Baili Xia found that all she could do was quietly watch him, completely at a loss for words.

However, as Bei Tianyou was leaving, he finally remembered to give her a brief explanation.

“It was Mr. Nangong who entrusted me with this. He made a deal with me to go to Bei Miao for my medical treatment in exchange for a promise to teach you how to identify poisons. These are just the beginning.”
