Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”Why?!”

He Jie sneered and pushed Akseyel away.

”Stay calm.” Su Huan patted He Jie’s shoulder and looked at the two standing before him, confused. ”Didn’t Tasia make arrangements? By the way, is your President still alive?”

Yuri tugged on his old comrade and said solemnly, ”The situation is urgent. Princess Tasia went straight to the rear upon returning, and as for the President, it’s impossible for him to appear here. The gunfire-side of the war will be handled by Akseyel and me.”

No matter how fiercely they argued with Akseyel inside, they couldn’t give up the command power without a word.

The bottom line is the bottom line, and the tugging is the tugging.

Su Huan shook his head, ”It’s impossible for me to hand over the command of the Armed Train to you. If it’s an independent battle, then there’s no need for any alliance.”

The room’s atmosphere was somewhat heavy, and Akseyel shook off Yuri’s hand, questioning, ”We have mobilized thirty thousand men. Do you understand our military system? The battlefield? Our defenses? Our weapons...”

”But I am stronger than you.” Su Huan stated calmly, without any anger, simply declaring a fact, ”And my subordinates are stronger than yours.”

”Even though you have thirty thousand people, most of them are ordinary people, only five Tier Two and one hundred and six Tier One. Without us, you wouldn’t be able to withstand even one assault.”

Akseyel’s deep blue eyes flickered, his chest heaving violently.

He was hot-tempered, but he knew better than anyone that this was the truth.

Akseyel’s tone calmed down, ”But this is war, not just a competition of paper strength, but also of deployment...”

Su Huan just calmly watched him; he now understood the opponent, but because of that, he would be even more unwilling to give in.

The command power of joint operations must be in the hands of the Armed Train.

The atmosphere stagnated, and just as Yuri intended to find a way to ease the situation, Su Huan suddenly let out a light ”huh,” barely getting a word out before the base’s alarm started ringing.

”The White Demon is here!”

Akseyel seemed to shake free of his gloom, like a lion shaking its mane, eyes shining, ”I know I can’t persuade you, but I’ll use the battle that follows to prove my point.”

After speaking, he saluted Su Huan and walked away briskly.

Watching his old comrade’s determined back, Yuri sighed internally and looked at Su Huan, ”Then we...”

”Of course, we’ll watch you prove it.”

...

Ivan tugged at his military coat vigorously, trying to cover more of his body.

At the time, he was holding a rifle crouched in a snow tunnel, though it was more like a small hall. They had transformed the hall into a warm living room, kitchen, and bedroom.

Outside the tunnel was a trench, sealed with a wooden plank door to keep the heat from escaping.

In the middle was a small stove with a pot of beef soup boiling atop, emitting warmth throughout, making the temperature inside the snow tunnel rise to above zero, even reaching over ten degrees Celsius.

[The temperature inside the snow tunnel can not only surpass 0°C but can even reach several degrees above up to ten degrees. This is due to the core principle of ”snow’s thermal insulation” combined with the ”heat-gathering effect of the human body/heat sources.”]

A few veteran soldiers around him chatted about the damp boots they endured during a spring battle; they also slept here at night, with two people on watch.

The veterans mixed in a crude joke, eliciting laughter from everyone.

The young Ivan took a loaf of bread, chewing it while attentively listening to the veterans’ advice.

He thought this life was decent.

To be more precise, he didn’t know what kind of life was good.

When the apocalypse first hit, he was pretty scared, thinking the world was ending, but soon those who turned into zombies either died frozen in the wind and snow or were wiped out by gunfire.

Officials remained officials, ordinary people remained ordinary people.

Nothing else changed much.

Food became scarcer, essentials more scarce, and inexplicably, wars still needed fighting.

It seemed no different from before the apocalypse, just something to endure until it’s over.

Suddenly, the alarm blared outside, and the confused Ivan was led into the trench by the veterans. Embracing the cold wind thirty degrees below zero, clutching his rifle as he shivered, he searched for the enemy.

The trench beneath his feet was so deep with loose snow that it reached his calves, making it hard to step and slippery.

Bang! A bullet flew by, hitting Ivan in the eye socket.

The bullet lacked the energy to exit through the back of his head, but the injury was enough to kill Ivan.

Young Ivan never realized who he was fighting with before collapsing in the snow.

”They can still use guns?!”

He Jie looked at the young dead Mao Bear in the trench, shocked.

”They possess human memories and awareness, and that’s the most terrifying part. You can’t tell if the person next to you is really your familiar family or friend, or a replaced demon!”

Yuri stood beside the two, speaking sternly.

Su Huan refused the offered binoculars and waved his hand, pulling the group into the air.

This was the best vantage point.

A single perspective instantly turned into a full-view perspective, like turning on full map hacks in a game.

Looking far off, hundreds to thousands of white bears crossed Donghuang territory, heading straight for the frontlines.

From their attire, you could tell who they were. Most were ordinary people, a few were soldiers, since Obsidian Industries hadn’t yet annexed all of Mao Bear territories, there were several military uniforms.

This group was the most elite, wielding rifles, sprinting effortlessly across piles of snow several meters thick, flashing four to five meters ahead as if having no body, simultaneously firing their guns while charging.

”Charging with straight backs, very Northern Alliance spirited indeed.”

He Jie commented.

Yuri looked slightly embarrassed but remained silent.

In such a short time, hundreds had already crossed the border, racing towards the ground fortifications.

Given their physical prowess, the symbolic fortifications probably made little difference.

However, the gunfire side had already reacted, with each trench beginning to fire sequentially, crisscrossing firepower cleverly forming several lines of blockade, dozens of puppets fell over, without a drop of blood.

”These lines of defense are quite well placed.”

He Jie gestured an angle with his hand, more solemnness appearing on his face.

Yuri cautiously gauged Su Huan’s expression, but the latter showed neither appreciation nor disappointment, just calmly watching.

In Su Huan’s perspective, as the puppets died, invisible, colorless figures crawled from their bodies, the bullets whizzing through having no effect on the White Demon without a physical form.

But Su Huan quickly noticed a detail, the total energy of the White Demon was slowly dwindling. Appearing directly in this world seemed harmful to the White Demon, but relying on this weak harm to kill a White Demon seemed far-fetched.

Freed from the constraints of their flesh, these White Demons moved even faster, cutting through the cold wind, swiftly passing defenses, heading straight for the nearest soldier in the trenches.

At this moment, the high-energy reactions Su Huan initially sensed suddenly exploded.

Followed by a series of blasts, dozens of White Demons were directly shattered by chaotic energy currents.

’So that’s how they’re used.’

Su Huan suddenly realized internally, the method seemed clumsy but effective.

After all, cultivating a high-tier ”Power Supplier” is much tougher than laying hands on two unstable energy crystals.

Only the Armed Train could afford to employ Evolvers with professions as regular workers.

Although the White Demon’s assault was frenzied, protected by the trenches, Mao Bear’s firepower held the upper hand. The trenches seemed to refresh continuously, no matter how many died, there were new replacements.

Just when Su Huan assumed the battle would end like this, roaring sounds from aircraft began to echo far above.

Watching three armed helicopters approach aggressively, the train conductor opened his mouth.

”Huh?”
