Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 15: Chapter 14: No Beating Passengers Without Cause

”Then there are various food items with longer shelf lives, like biscuits, ham, instant noodles, each with...”

”Just convert it into how many days six people can eat.” Su Huan said flatly.

”Not counting canned goods and rice, noodles, grains, and oil, if we eat two meals a day, it can last about seven months.”

”What about the purified water reserves?”

”120 cases of bottled water with 24 bottles each, 23 barrels of large bottled water, and 842 bottles of various beverages,” Yu Yue detailed.

Su Huan calculated silently, just relying on these resources, it would be enough to let a six-person team live comfortably in the apocalypse.

Not to mention there are large amounts of side foods not included in the reserves, scattered in the previous few train cars.

But these resources are just for transition.

It’s unknown how many years the apocalypse will last. Relying solely on stored food will definitely lead to running out. In the future, it will become increasingly difficult to find supplies. Creating farm compartments in the train is necessary.

When the time comes, various compartments must be allocated reasonably, allowing resources to circulate. Self-sufficiency with the armored train is the key.

”Knock, knock, knock!”

A rhythmic knocking sound came from the train car.

The few people instinctively turned their gaze toward Su Huan.

”You guys stay here and organize. Remember to lock the door to compartment 7, forget it, just meld it shut and only open it when necessary.”

With that, Su Huan headed towards compartment 5.

Outside the window, a few passengers stood there, sweating profusely, looking around vigilantly.

Su Huan activated pan-energy perception. After sensing there was nothing above or below, he opened the window.

A hot wind hit his face.

He said calmly, ”What’s the matter?”

A man said, ”We found steel plates, but there are a lot and zombies around, without transportation, it’s impossible to bring them back.”

Su Huan frowned; some tools need to be prepared. This time it’s steel plates, next time it could be a small water purifier. Relying on people to carry isn’t reliable.

He needed to think of a way later.

But for now...

Su Huan coldly said, ”Finding transport is your issue. I don’t care how you manage it, I just want the steel plates. If you can’t bring back the steel plates, no one gets on the train.”

He shut the window with a bang.

The few people had no choice but to go back and find a way to transport the steel plates.

Turning back, the storage room was mostly organized, various metal cans neatly displayed on black iron shelves, like walls exuding a sense of heavy satisfaction.

A few people looked at him, ”What happened?”

Su Huan rubbed his chin, ”Maybe we should get a crane.”

Yu Jing agreed, ”We could install it on the train, lift the steel plates. Otherwise, it’s very difficult to lift them onto the roof by manpower.”

Liang Kuan, ”Should we start looking now?”

Su Huan was taken aback, ”Start, what start?”

Su Huan sighed, ”Wasn’t yesterday’s bloodhound lesson enough for you? It’s dangerous enough inside the train, anything could happen outside. Use your brain when making decisions; this is the apocalypse!”

”Yu Jing, go to my room and get a piece of paper. Write, ’Whoever brings a crane gets three months of free tickets.’

”Okay, before they come back, quickly forge the remaining compartment frames.”

Su Huan didn’t bother with them, continuing to work in compartment 5.

The apocalypse was becoming more dangerous.

Based on survival experience from his past life, the best way to live is to stay low.

People evolve fast, but can they evolve faster than beasts?

Anyway, he was determined. Until he evolves enough to roam the apocalypse, he won’t go out unless absolutely necessary. Even if the passengers behind die, he won’t risk himself for small matters like sourcing materials.

The others continued working, progressing faster with the experience from compartment 6.

And the other compartments didn’t need to be completely dismantled.

Only partial modifications were necessary.

Even though Su Huan occupied an entire compartment, compartment 4 had eight soft sleepers, and Yu Jing’s mother and daughter used only one, so there’s plenty of room for others.

Compartment 5 was previously used for storing miscellaneous items; now it was cleared, and could be turned into a medical compartment.

Before they finished their work, it was already afternoon, and passengers started to return in droves.

Su Huan began his joyful ticket collection time again.

”Exchange ticket.”

A cartload of steel plates was pushed towards the train.

Su Huan looked up, the man in front looked as rough as his voice, standing beside him was a young man with extensive tattoos on his face, with a frivolous look, constantly trying to peek into the compartments behind him.

He remembered this group vividly, the family that stole his supplies left with them this morning.

Now, it seemed...

Su Huan squinted, a grin unconsciously appeared on his face. The family of lively people was now only left with the old woman’s youngest son, who didn’t dare to stand with his hands in his pockets, timidly standing at the back, surrounded by several old passengers.

After observing the commotion, he refocused on the steel plates.

”Eight steel plates, eight people, correct, but two are newcomers, newcomers need two plates each.”

Su Huan pointed at the people behind, speaking indifferently.

The tattooed youth sneered, ”That’s right, just seven people, that one doesn’t count, the extra plate is for his wife.”

The boy at the back immediately shouted sorrowfully upon hearing this, ”Brother Dog, you said that if my dad distracted the zombies, you’d give me a spot, what now...”

”Bang.”

The passenger standing next to him gave him a real thump.

The dull thuds of flesh hitting flesh made Su Huan’s ears heat up a bit, and he said with a stern face, ”No hitting passengers for no reason, huh.”

The tattooed youth turned his head, chuckling, ”The spot’s for your wife, aren’t you a big man, still fighting with your wife? Just go find two more steel plates, there’s plenty at the steel plant.”

The boy who got beaten was caught in the middle by a few people, his mouth covered, his eyes turning red with rage.

The rough man frowned and scolded, ”Kid, Brother Su is talking to you.”

The tattooed youth quickly turned around, pretending to smack his own mouth, took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, and offered them to Su Huan, ”Brother Su, we didn’t go to school and don’t understand much, please don’t mind us.”

Su Huan looked playfully at the two cigarettes in his hand for a while, then extended two fingers, directly grabbing the other’s wrist, converting pan-energy into a shock.

In an instant, the young man called ”Kid” had a drastic change in complexion, his whole body stiffened, clothes crackling.

Brother Dog and his group looked shocked, but didn’t dare to step forward.

Su Huan merely took the whole pack of cigarettes from the other’s hand before releasing it.

He said softly, ’It’s a small matter.’

The young man fell to the ground, looking at Su Huan as if he’d seen a ghost, his eyebrows scorched, tongue tied, struggling to articulate anything.

Su Huan casually pocketed the cigarettes, and ticked off their names on the register, ”I don’t smoke, but I like collecting. Next time remember to bring me a whole carton, alright, those who’ve paid for their tickets can board the train.”

Brother Dog and his group didn’t dare say anything, quickly lifted the young man, and slinked onto the train.

The woman glanced at her fallen husband, bit her lip, and followed onto the train.
