Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1145: The Original Rune

Deniseʼs workshop tower had soon become silent except for the various Formation Arrays humming around her work area. These arrays ensure that no outside energy could disrupt her concentration.

Hours turned to days as she continued working on her project.

Broken constructs lay scattered across the floor, showing her repeated failures. But now, with Magnusʼs gift, the Demon Saintʼs Cores, she was getting closer and closer to her goal…

After completing the necessary preparations with the changes to the core, she felt a surge of confidence she hadnʼt tasted in days.

Soon, she placed one of the black crystals onto the central altar. At this time, its surface could be seen pulsing faintly with dark energy instead of Demonic energy.

Furthermore, unlike the fragile cores she had used before, this one remained stable even after being tested several times with various dark spells...

It naturally absorbed divinity strands like a vessel designed to support divinity… It was a unique item.

”Finally… A core worthy of the task.” Denise muttered.

The five Chaos Immortals chained nearby stirred weakly, sensing the changes in Deniseʼs mood.

One rasped as he tried to reason out…

”You… think this will change anything? Chaos cannot be caged. You will fail!”

Denise ignored him.

Instead, she proceeded with the last preparations.

Soon, she began inscribing her original rune. She called it the Android Rune, and she placed it across the surface of the core.

It was the same Rune she had created for her strongest Magic Automatons.

Indeed, unlike standard binding runes, this one was her own creation, designed to make the souls perfect for mechanical vessels. This way, they could absorb instructions easily since it removes their unnecessary memories, emotions, or thoughts.

It wasnʼt just that… This rune also contained principles of soul anchoring, energy circulation, and artificial consciousness.

The rune glowed faintly as she completed the final stroke.

Next, she activated the Containment Formation Array she had prepared. The floor lit up as the array appeared…

It wasnʼt just a single array. It had the Soul Extraction Array, designed to pull fragments of the Immortalʼs essence without destroying the body.

Then, there was also the Stabilization Array, with suppression ability to prevent the soul from lashing out.

Then, the Fusion Array, which connected the extracted soul to the Demon Saintʼs Core, forcing resonance between corrupted Chaos and demonic essence…

ʼI can do this… This time, Iʼll succeed.ʼ Denise muttered to herself as she needed to be so sure about this.

Soon, she raised her hand as threads of Valeʼs Divine Strand wrapped around her fingers.

After that, she directed them into the arrays, and the chamber vibrated as the bindings tightened around one of the Chaos Immortals.

The Immortal screamed, a huge part of his soul was being pulled from his body in glowing fragments of black and crimson light. Soon, these chains glowed brighter, holding his weakened form in place.

Deniseʼs voice was calm as she looked at the screaming Immortal.

”You wonʼt die. Not yet. Youʼll be reborn…” There was almost madness in her voice as she was only focused on succeeding… She didnʼt care about their lives at all.

The fragment of soul was soon dragged into the Demon Saintʼs modified Core.

Then, as she had expected, the core did not crack. It absorbed the essence and the soul steadily…

Deniseʼs eyes widened as she couldnʼt help but feel that she was about to succeed…

”Itʼs holding… itʼs actually holding!”

She quickly activated the Android Rune, channeling energy into the construct she had prepared. The golemʼs frame, supported by shadowsteel and etched with numerous inscription arrays, began to hum.

Just like that, the Android Rune linked the core and started harnessing the soul energy into artificial pathways.

The process was brutal. The Immortalʼs soul resisted as it tried to escape! It even tried tearing itself free. However, the Fusion Array flared, suppressing any possible escape that it could do…

Well, one of the most interesting abilities of the Immortals was actually their ability to control their soul even if they lost their bodies. It wasnʼt something anyone could do without divinity…

Because of that, the Fusion Array was truly needed in this process.

Soon, lights covered the chamber as the construct trembled.

Denise poured more Divine Strand into the rune…

”Just give up... You are mine now.”

In a few more moments, the core pulsed violently, then stabilized.

The constructʼs eyes suddenly opened, and it even glowed with a crimson light.

In just a few moments, its frame straightened, and after a very long time, one of her creations stood without collapsing.

The Chaos Immortalʼs voice echoed from within the shell, distorted but clear. ”What… have you done—”

It didnʼt even finish speaking before the light in its eyes changed to a blue one… After that, it no longer spoke.s

Denise smiled, satisfaction radiating from her expression. ”Iʼve made you useful. You are no longer a prisoner. You are my Guardian.”

She answered the Chaos Immortal even if she was no longer being heard.

The Guardian Automaton then stepped forward with its stiff but controlled movement.

The Android Rune glowed across its chest, binding the soul to its new vessel. Soon, the arrays dimmed, their work complete.

”Perfect… And thatʼs only a third of his soul… It means I can make three Guardians out of one Chaos Immortal! Awesome!”

Denise turned to Magnus, who had been watching all this time to protect her in case it was necessary...

”It worked. The Demon Saintʼs Core stabilized the soul, and my Rune completed the fusion. Heʼs mine now.”

Magnus nodded, impressed despite himself.

”Youʼve done what most would call impossible. Youʼve turned a Chaos Immortal into a puppet… Congratulations, Miss Denise. You can surprise Vale once he returns…”

Deniseʼs smile as she knew that Vale would be very surprised…

”Hehe… Thatʼs true… But again, this is not a puppet. A Guardian. He will protect the Shadow Domain.” She proudly added.

However, at this time, the other Chaos Immortals glared, their hatred was burning brighter as they realized one of their own had been broken.

Denise looked at them with a chilling smile…

”You see? A hundred failures mean nothing. One success is enough. And soon, the rest of you will join him.”
