Alchemy Master

Chapter 1094, A Formidable Figure

Translator: Silavin

From the moment of entering the Elf Forest, whether because of the particular energies of this place was unclear, but Little Ling’er’s condition had been poor throughout their journey.

Beneath the ceaseless, unrelenting battering of Power of Life, the terrifying power that the Old Ancestor of the Lunar Palace had suppressed within her through a Secret Technique had finally begun to show signs of breaking free.

“Ah! Ling’er…” Watching the small body of Little Ling’er begin to swell, Qin Yichen’s expression changed drastically.

That was the accumulated power of an entire Race, stored over millions of years of existence.

Even a single thread of that energy leaking out would be more than Little Ling’er’s body could endure. And if it were to fully break loose, even the Elf Forest of the Elf Race would be struck by catastrophic destruction.

Almost simultaneously, every Elf present sensed that the immense energy temporarily suppressed by the Elf Queen shuddered faintly, as though drawn and stirred by something unseen.

“Hm?” The Elf Queen noticed Little Ling’er’s condition at that moment as well.

She furrowed her elegant brows slightly. From the Life Scepter in her hand, a stream of gentle, soft radiance shot forth, enveloping Little Ling’er within its glow.

“Mm…” Beneath that gentle radiance, Little Ling’er’s body, which had been swelling visibly only moments before, retreated at a speed perceptible to the naked eye. In no more than a breath, Little Ling’er’s body had returned to its small, dainty form.

“What happened?” Eyes full of bewilderment turned toward Qin Yichen and Little Ling’er in his arms.

The Power of Life, which had grown restless moments ago, settled once more into calm as Little Ling’er’s body recovered.

“Your Majesty, how is Little Ling’er?” Seeing Little Ling’er’s body restored, Qin Yichen could not quell the worry in his voice as he asked.

“Suppressed for the moment.” The Elf Queen furrowed her elegant brows slightly, and her expression grew grave.

When she had examined Little Ling’er’s body earlier, she had already perceived that a tremendous amount of Power of Life was stored within this little girl. However, in that fleeting instant just now, she had sensed that the depth and magnitude of that energy far surpassed her expectations. She could not even determine with certainty how vast the energy contained within this little girl truly was.

“For the moment?” Hearing this, Qin Yichen’s expression tightened.

“If she had come sooner, I should have been able to help her suppress that energy. But, it seems like a powerful expert had used some kind of technique to suppress it for her previously…”

The Elf Queen shook her head. She could not understand why, within a Human body, Power of Life of a kind that only Royal Elves had a chance of possessing would be found.

Hearing those words, Qin Yichen’s expression darkened further.

The one the Elf Queen spoke of was certainly the Old Ancestor of the Lunar Palace. But the Old Ancestor had acted in Little Ling’er’s best interests, offering aid out of genuine concern.

Yet no one had foreseen that the intervention would prove counterproductive. Relying on an external force of a different origin for suppression was, in the end, nothing more than a desperate and flawed measure.

“For now, she can only rely on herself…” The Elf Queen shook her head, her words carrying a helpless weight.

“Your Majesty, I ask that you permit my Daughter to cultivate the Life Scripture!” Qin Yichen drew a long breath. His voice, carrying a faint tremor, rang out with quiet urgency.

“The Life Scripture!?”

“This…” Those words sent the expressions of the assembled Elves shifting at once.

The Life Scripture was the most guarded and secret Cultivation Technique of the Elf Race.

Within the entire Elf Race, only those Royal Elves born with exceptional gifts were considered worthy of studying and comprehending it.

Though Qin Yichen had shown the Elf Race an immeasurable kindness, the Life Scripture was the ultimate treasure of the Elf Race. How could it be so easily passed to a member of a Foreign Race?

Even the Elf Queen’s expression could not help but shift slightly at Qin Yichen’s request.

Initially, when Qin Yichen had helped purge the Blood Devouring Poison, she had considered the fact that Little Ling’er was a foreigner, and had judged that even if given the opportunity, she would have no means of cultivating the Life Scripture.

However, when she had sensed the Power of Life within Little Ling’er’s body, she had suddenly grown concerned. [Wouldn’t she truly end up learning the Life Scripture after all?]

And yet Qin Yichen’s debt of kindness to the Elf Race was simply too immense. First, he had purged the Blood Devouring Poison, shielding the Elf Race from a devastating catastrophe. Then he had resolved the problem of the Ancestral Tree, something that had persisted for tens of thousands of years, which countless Ancestors had failed to achieve.

Either of those kindnesses alone would have made it impossible for the Elf Race to refuse any request from Qin Yichen.

The matter of the Life Scripture, however, was of such tremendous significance that even she, as the Elf Queen, did not dare allow the Life Scripture to be passed outside the Race.

After all, once the Life Scripture was passed to an outsider and their enemies studied it and developed countermeasures, the day of the Elf Race’s destruction would not be far behind.

“Your Majesty…” Reading the Elf Queen’s expression, Qin Yichen’s face grew cold.

He had endured a thousand hardships and risked his life to enter the Elf Race, and then spent resources beyond any calculation of wealth to reach this point.

And now, at the most critical moment, the Elf Queen was showing signs of going back on her word!?

How could that not enrage him?

Yet the Elf Queen was a Supreme Being. Even if she simply and openly refused to honour her promise, there was absolutely nothing he could do about it.

“Haa…” The Elf Queen sighed softly, her expression laced with visible awkwardness.

Had Qin Yichen made any other request, even asking to become an Elder of the Elf Race, she would not have hesitated for a single moment, agreeing without reservation.

But this request of his touched upon matters that were far too heavy. Even she could not act without the utmost care.

Most critically of all, Qin Yichen’s kindness to the Elf Race was simply too great, and she had given her word on this matter as well. To flatly refuse was something she could not bring herself to do.

The assembled Elves nearby wore expressions of great complexity, every one of them.

And just as the scene was growing unbearably awkward, a burst of open laughter rang out suddenly across the sky above.

“Ha ha… Young Friend, you have shown such tremendous kindness to our Race. A small matter like this, how could we refuse!?”

Before the laughter had even finished echoing, Qin Yichen felt his vision blur, and two figures were standing before him.

One of them was a petite, slender figure: Avril.

At this moment, the aura about her had undergone a transformation so profound it was as though Heaven and Earth had been turned upside down. The youthful inexperience that had once clung to her seemed to have retreated entirely, replaced by a warmth and approachability that inspired an instinctive sense of closeness in those who perceived it.

Beneath that quality, one found oneself moved, without even realising it, to feel a kind of reverence.

Clearly, Avril had completed her coming-of-age ceremony and fully gone through her baptism.

But at this moment, Qin Yichen’s gaze was fixed intently upon the other figure.

That figure was not especially imposing in build. A head of silver-white hair lay loosely draped across the shoulders.

From that figure, was an aura of something untamed and wholly natural. It was a sensation like that of an unmatched, Ferocious Beast. This figure just might erupt with earth-shattering force at any instant.

Qin Yichen stared at that figure. Even without a single trace of aura leaking from the other party, he could still sense the dignity and oppressive weight radiating from that person, and this feeling surpassed even the Elf Queen herself in its intensity.
