Chapter 936, Lightning Strike, Wind Shredding, Rain Beating, Sun Scorching

Translator: Silavin

Time passed. Who knows how long. The tornadoes dissipated, leaving upon the ground only a body nearly shredded to pieces.

That was Qin Yichen.

This body was his Spiritual Body, his very Soul!

Though not truly flesh and blood, it far exceeded his physical body in terms of significance. Where the body suffered injury, treatment was possible. But if the Soul was wounded, it very likely meant permanent damage.

In this single day, he had experienced lightning strikes and being shredded by wind. Were it any other person, their Soul would long since have fallen.

But he had persevered.

After enduring lightning strikes and wind shredding, though they brought Qin Yichen endless pain, his Spiritual Energy received tremendous tempering.

Nearly an hour later, he stood once more. Moving slightly, he felt the difference in his body.

Upon first entering, this body gave him just one feeling… weak.

It was soft and powerless.

But now, clenching his fist slightly, he felt a sense of strength.

This convinced Qin Yichen that even having endured such suffering was absolutely worthwhile.

He had consistently cultivated the Demon Subduing Great Saint’s Divine Indestructible Soul Art. Though his Spiritual Energy strength had steadily improved, the rate of advancement could not compare with this moment.

Arguably, these two tempering sessions equaled a year of cultivating the Divine Indestructible Soul Art!

This was at the minimum.

Naturally, danger and opportunity coexisted.

The Divine Indestructible Soul Art posed little danger. But here, it was different. At any moment, his Soul might dissipate entirely.

*Rumble…*

Just as Qin Yichen was celebrating this improvement, Heaven and Earth underwent another massive transformation.

The sky suddenly became oppressively dark, pressing directly toward the ground. Within those pitch-black clouds, blinding lightning continuously flashed. Everything seemed to portend that torrential rain was imminent…

*Splatter!*

Before Qin Yichen could react, the entire sky seemed to rupture. Torrential rain cascaded down, countless droplets like steel needles hammering violently upon his body. Instantly, his figure was submerged.

This differed from lightning strikes and being shredded from the wind.

The force contained within the raindrops combined softness and hardness, specifically targeting weak points and painful areas, making Qin Yichen wish for death.

During lightning strikes and wind shredding, he could still roar, venting his agony. But now, he could not even open his mouth. This suffering defied description.

Softness could overcome hardness, perfectly countering his resilient aspects.

Hardness could subdue softness, precisely stimulating his vulnerable points.

Moreover, beneath this combination of hardness and softness lay a bone-penetrating cold, striking directly at the depths of his Soul.

Therefore, under this rain beating, virtually every aspect of his Soul received thorough tempering.

Similarly, the rain beating continued for half a day before ceasing.

Qin Yichen sprawled upon the ground, unable to move even a finger. Under lightning strikes and wind shredding, though the ordeal was difficult, he had gritted his teeth and endured.

However, under this rain beating, he had nearly collapsed several times, his consciousness almost breached.

This demonstrated how formidable the rain beating was.

After gradually recovering, Qin Yichen felt himself somehow transformed.

Though that sense of strength hadn’t increased, the Spiritual Body appeared more solid.

For instance, previously, lightning strikes would split his skin and flesh. But now, were he to endure such strikes again, he definitely would not suffer as miserably as before.

“Strange, is it already done?” After a considerable amount of time, Qin Yichen still detected no anomalous phenomena within this space.

In the sky above, no oppressive dark clouds. Upon the ground, no visible dangers. Everything seemed entirely normal.

Yet inexplicably, a wave of heat welled up within him.

“Heat?” Qin Yichen was taken aback.

Currently as only a Spiritual Body, how could he feel heat?

This was clearly abnormal.

Raising his head, he finally observed that in the sky above, the blazing Sun hung high. Brilliant white sunlight spread across every corner. The entire world was filled with endless heat. Scorching waves surged, causing the entire space to ripple with visible distortions.

Heat!

Inescapable heat!

Not only hot, but stifling!

Under this oppressive heat, Qin Yichen nearly went mad.

Whether pounding the ground violently, roaring, or employing any method. However, nothing could change his situation.

Moreover, the more he sought to escape, the more violently his emotions fluctuated. Simultaneously, he felt increasingly hot, even desiring to tear open his own chest and release the heat.

This heat.

It was not physical torment, but rather struck directly at one’s psyche. It was as though suspending the Soul above flames to be roasted.

Soon, Qin Yichen reacted.

He clearly understood: if he went mad in this state, he would utterly and completely fall. This was more terrifying than the previous three other trials!

Under lightning strikes, shredding, and beating, Qin Yichen need only persist regardless of the cost, maintaining his heart, to absolutely endure.

But now, it was different.

This struck directly at that clarity he guarded.

Under endless oppressive heat, that single trace of clarity was like a small boat upon a sea of fire. At any moment, he could potentially be consumed by those endless flames.

Momentarily, the previously grimacing Qin Yichen sat cross-legged upon the ground.

His hands formed a peculiar seal. Simultaneously, tongue pressed to palate, eyes observing nose, nose observing heart, obscure syllables emerged from his mouth.

This secret technique was obtained from a cultivator who became a Buddha. It was named the Universal Compassion Salvation Buddhist Scripture.

Buddhas cultivated their Soul, emphasising that after death, the body perished while the Soul remained Immortal, thus pursuing eternal existences as Souls.

He had once encountered a Buddha Saint, whose body had decayed for hundreds of years, yet whose Soul remained, capable of taking on Human Form. This demonstrated how powerful a Buddha’s Soul could be.

The reason a Buddha’s Soul was so formidable lay in this ‘ Universal Compassion Salvation Buddhist Scripture’.

According to legend, this scripture was created by an Ancient Buddha. In that era, from the Infinite Hell emerged an extraordinary peerless Demon who opened Hell’s gate. Within mere years, it devoured several Races. This Ancient Buddha stepped forward, eradicating all evil, driving all of Hell’s Demons back.

However, Hell’s gate, once opened, could not be closed. It brought about endless disasters.

The Ancient Buddha thus resolved to enter Hell, guarding Hell’s gate.

At that time, numerous Buddhas tried dissuading him, but the Ancient Buddha declared, “If I don’t enter Hell, who will?”

This Ancient Buddha forsook his physical body, entered Hell, guarded Hell’s gate, leaving only a scroll which contains the Universal Compassion Salvation Buddhist Scripture.

The instant the Buddhist chant began, Qin Yichen’s restless mind calmed. Seated there, he appeared extraordinarily peaceful.

However, he himself could not see that while silently reciting the chant, from his body spread a faint layer of Buddhist radiance, resisting the erosion from the heat.

Silavin: This particular Buddha is called Dizang in Chinese. A very popular character. There are many Buddhas in lore.
