Chapter 355, Executing the Traitor

Translator: Silavin

“The Seventh Princess wants to seize the throne?”

“That can’t be right? I heard news from Twilight City that even the Carefree Prince supports the Seventh Princess. How could she possibly be a demonic woman?”

Hearing General Li’s words, people in the fortress began whispering amongst themselves. However, knowing that the Carefree Prince supported the Seventh Princess, many soldiers wavered.

Although they were no longer under the Carefree Prince’s command, his position in their hearts had never wavered. If Princess Xia Zilin was the kind of person General Li had described, how could the Carefree Prince help her?

“Nonsense! You’re just colluding with the enemy!”

Li Yuanba spat contemptuously, then his tiger eyes bulged as he stood at the gate with his giant hammer, making his stance clear. To pass through Ancient Mountain Pass, they would have to wait until he died and step over his corpse!

“How dare you speak such nonsense! Someone, arrest him!”

General Li pointed at Li Yuanba and angrily roared.

“General, he had just gained merit in killing the enemies. This doesn’t seem right.” Hearing General Li’s angry shout, a vice commander frowned and pleaded for Li Yuanba.

“Nonsense, was he killing enemies? He was helping rebels buy time! Arrest him as an accomplice of the rebels!”

General Li slapped this vice commander’s face and pointed at Li Yuanba, shouting angrily at the soldiers behind him.

However, when his words fell, the soldiers looked at him, but none moved.

“What are you waiting for? Arrest him immediately!” Being stared at by so many eyes, General Li felt uneasy. He roared in anger again.

However, under his roar, no one stepped forward. Looking at that blood-covered figure standing before the fortress gate like a guardian deity, strange looks appeared in the eyes of the soldiers on Ancient Mountain Pass.

“Good! Good! Good! You all want to rebel? Today, I’ll personally execute this rebel, and see who else wants to be like him!?”

Seeing no soldier willing to act, General Li was now throughly enraged.

Across from them, the two Grand Empires’ Grand Marshals were waiting for him to act!

If they delayed any further, if the Royal Families of the Great Ease Grand Empire and Thousand Silk Grand Empire turned against them, the Li Family would face true demise.

General Li drew his long sword and leaped down, bringing sharp Sword Qi slashing toward Li Yuanba!

“Haaaa…” Seeing this, countless soldiers closed their eyes, unable to bear watching. Whether because they could not bear to see Li Yuanba beheaded, or because they felt General Li was no match for Li Yuanba.

*Splat!* With blood spraying, a head flew skyward!

Seeing the flying head, countless soldiers shook their heads regretfully.

If Li Yuanba had struck back, there would surely be no intact corpse. This clean beheading perhaps indicated Li Yuanba did not fight back before dying!

Just as countless soldiers were sighing and preparing to abandon Ancient Mountain Pass, their  sharp pupils contracted. Someone pointed at a figure below the fortress and exclaimed, “It is the Carefree Prince!”

“What!?”

Hearing these few words, countless soldiers’ bodies tensed up as they all looked down.

There, Li Yuanba stood like an ancient pine before the fortress, unmoved. However, before him stood a somewhat ‘elderly’ figure.

That figure appeared somewhat thin, but just quietly standing there, a ferocious aura of iron and blood seemed to form. There was the terrifying presence of corpses covering the ground, a mighty presence of one who stood above everything. His sole presence alone captured the people’s hearts!

This figure was the Soul of countless Great Prosperity Grand Empire soldiers… the Carefree Prince, Xia Zelei!

At Xia Zelei’s feet lay a headless corpse. Looking at the armour, it was easy to recognise it was General Li, who had just been shouting about executing Li Yuanba!

Seeing the Carefree Prince’s actions, no explanation was needed. The soldiers already knew the situation in the Grand Empire could not be as General Li had claimed.

The Carefree Prince gazed into the distance at the million-strong army, and a dignified yet deep voice slowly rang out across Ancient Mountain Pass fortress. “All Ancient Mountain Pass soldiers hear my command! Defend Ancient Mountain Pass to the death! Do not let our enemies step into our Ancient Mountain Pass until the last soldier falls!”

“Yes, sir!”

The brief but unified response rose like thunder, shaking Heaven!

At this moment, all weariness seemed to vanish from the Ancient Mountain Pass soldiers. They all gripped their weapons tightly, standing on the fortress glaring at the million-strong army. Now, their eyes showed not a trace of fear – only passion to fight to the death!

What glory was it to die alongside the Grand Empire’s greatest Grand Marshall, the Carefree Prince!

Moreover, the Carefree Prince had never seen defeat. What did it matter if the enemy had ten times their numbers!?

They had the Carefree Prince! They had the impregnable Ancient Mountain Pass!

Even if they had nearly exhausted their fortress defenses, so what? They still had their weapons and their bones trained against iron!

When the Carefree Prince appeared, the distant million-strong army began to uneasily get stirred up.

That figure was the asura to them. He was their nightmare!

He was the undefeatable nightmare!

Even with their million troops, they all felt their hearts wavering.

Turning to look at the scattered corpses and blood-covered Li Yuanba, undisguised appreciation showed in Xia Zelei’s eyes. “What’s your name?”

“Li Yuanba!” Li Yuanba answered casually, his eyes scanning Xia Zelei up and down, seemingly doubtful. [Could this old man really be the renowned Carefree Prince, Xia Zelei?]

Xia Zelei saw the doubt in Li Yuanba’s gaze but was not angry at all. Instead, he patted Li Yuanba’s shoulder, nodded at him and softly praised. “Well done!”

After speaking, Xia Zelei’s form slowly rose into the air, a terrifying presence faintly emanating from his body. This presence was not intentional. Rather, it seemed he had become one with the battlefield!

Seeing the unintentional presence leak out, the fighting spirit in Li Yuanba’s eyes surged once more. If not for the urgent situation, he might have been unable to resist grabbing his hammer and engaging in an exhilarating battle with the Carefree Prince.

“You two old fools, I’ll be waiting for you right here at Ancient Mountain Pass. Come at me with everything you’ve got!” Xia Zelei’s figure stopped in mid-air before Ancient Mountain Pass, and his proud words rang out across Ancient Mountain Pass.
