Affinity: Chaos

Chapter 1665  Strange Secret Realm

In front of Martha, her father and mother, Greyʼs figure was passing through the portal in the middle, but that was not the astonishing thing, the thing that had their mouths wide open is that as Grey was forcing his way into the portal, all three portals were merging. Yes, according to Greyʼs grandfather, all three portals were somewhat connected, but at the same time they were three different portals, leading to three different places. However, all three portals were merging at the moment as Grey was stepping into the portal. ”Dad…” Martha called out to her father once again, worried about the safety of her son. Marthaʼs father looked at her and kept a calm expression, he moved close to Grey to inspect the portals. He didnʼt dare to touch him nor the portals, this was something he didnʼt have any idea about. Thereʼs a chance that they might be in danger if they mess with the portal. ”From the look of things, heʼs not showing any signs of being in danger, we should watch and see what happens.” He said as he inspected the portals. ”What do you mean by that, father?” Martha wasnʼt as calm as her father. She took a step forward, and just as she was about to grab Greyʼs shirt from behind, she felt a powerful force push her away. The force was powerful, yet so very gentle. Her father was the first to react, placing a palm on her back to stop her from moving back. ”Martha, donʼt be reckless.” Greyʼs grandfather reprimanded his daughter before pointing at Grey and saying, ”Look, he doesnʼt seem to be in any danger, nor do I sense any maliciousness from the portals merging. Donʼt put him in any danger.”

His words made Martha sense the portal and indeed, it didnʼt show any signs of it attacking Grey. ”But…”

”Donʼt worry, Iʼll contact the Elders, weʼll see if they know anything about this.” Greyʼs grandfather reassured Martha before disappearing. Martha was left with her mother, who was just as worried as her, but the words of her husband resonated in her head and she moved closer to Martha to comfort her. She just held Marthaʼs arm when Greyʼs figure was fully enveloped by the portal. Martha was evidently worried, but remembering her fatherʼs words, she calmed down, hoping that this might be a good thing for her son.

…..

While Martha and her father were worried about Grey as he was passing through the portal, Grey was a bit freaked out. As part of his face passed through the portal, he was greeted by a scorching sun, and he almost felt like his face was about to be burned off. He was currently looking at a dried up patch of land, the cracks on the ground was a testament of the fierceness of the sun which was seemingly ready to burn his face. There was nothing significant in sight, except some parchments of grass, and some cactus like trees.

ʼFuck!! I thought they said this place isnʼt dangerous?ʼ He complained internally as his body was slowly passing through the portal. From where he stood, he could already sense the danger in this place. Any carelessness and he is certain that he might not be able to walk out of this place alive. ʼThereʼs something about this place.ʼ Voidʼs excited voice rang in Greyʼs ears. ʼHuh?ʼ Grey was a bit taken aback, but then again, anywhere Void thinks is strange and he has such a form of excitement in his voice means that there are good things here. He was curious to see what was here and increased the intensity of forcing himself in. While he was doing this, Void left the spatial storage and appeared in the secret realm. The moment Void left Greyʼs spatial storage, the thing holding Grey back from entering the secret realm disappeared instantly, and his figure was fully sucked into the secret realm. It dawned on Grey at this moment, itʼs not that the secret realm was rejecting him, rather, it was rejecting Void, the small black cat that is always hidden somewhere in his body. ”Void, what did you do?” He asked with an annoyed expression. He didnʼt think that his sufferings to go through the portals would be caused by Void. ”Nothing.” Void wasnʼt bothered with Greyʼs expression, he only looked around curiously. He suddenly paused and then his figure disappeared once again. Boom!

The place Void was previously floating above exploded as something came out from the ground. Grey retreated hastily as he looked at the giant wormlike creature in front of him, the sharp teeth it possessed, and the fact that it came from the ground without being sensed by him or Void until it was about to come out of the ground scared him. The worm dived back into the ground after not being able to swallow Void who barely escaped its ambush. ʼDidnʼt they say this place wasnʼt dangerous?ʼ Void asked while hiding in the spatial storage. At the moment, Grey was stronger, so it was best he let Grey deal with these things while he tried to figure out what makes this place unique. ”Void, Iʼm going to kill you. Donʼt you see that itʼs after you?” Grey was vigilant, waiting to see if the creature would come out of the ground once again. ʼDoes that change anything? Youʼve been hunted all your life since I knew you, have I ever abandoned you?ʼ Voidʼs question made Grey almost stagger. Grey couldnʼt refute Voidʼs question since he was right, he truly has been hunted by one thing or the other for as long as he could remember, even before meeting Void, he was still hunted. ”Fine, but try to figure out what they want so we can come up with a plan to deal with them.” He gave a defeated sigh. ʼAlright, try not to get eaten for now.ʼ ”What do you mean ʼfor nowʼ?” Grey didnʼt like Voidʼs words and added, ”I donʼt want to be eaten, ever.”

ʼWhatever you say, sir.ʼ Grey felt the ground vibrate slightly, it was barely noticeable, but being the cautious person he is, since the first attack on Void, he has been vigilant and employed every sensory ability he has. Luckily, he has the earth element, and through his feet, he was able to sense the vibrations in the ground. Even with this, it was almost impossible to pick up the movement of the worm, and it was only as it was about to emerge from the ground did he sense it.

He jumped into the air, and without thinking too much, he bolted for it. He didnʼt know where he was going, but he knew that he had to get out of her as soon as possible.

The worm came from the ground just as Greyʼs figure jumped into the air, before it could attempt to swallow him, Greyʼs figure, covered in lightning, disappeared from its view. ….

Somewhere in the secret realm. Grey saw a building and stopped flying, he rushed into the building, trying to see if there was anything of value to him in there. He stood at the front of the building. This building was the only one in a few kilometers, he was still in the desert-like region, and even this building has been well heated up by the sun. Grey felt like it would come crumbling down if he touched it. ʼI wonder how strong that thing was.ʼ He thought to himself. He didnʼt get the chance to sense the cultivation level of the worm, but he was certain that he felt a sense of danger from it. One has to know that he has fought with Mid stages Magical Beasts before and didnʼt feel any form of threat from them. If he felt danger from that creature, it meant that it was at least in the Late stages of the Eighth Rank. He couldnʼt help but shiver at the thought of being swallowed by such a creature.

He didnʼt do anything in a haste, only after a few seconds of properly inspecting the door to the building did he finally decide to open it. The building wasnʼt large, around eight meters high or so, and it didnʼt look big either, around fifteen to twenty meters wide.

The door was made from a metal he hadnʼt seen before, and when he touched it, he could feel a strange coldness seep into his body, and the first thing that came to his mind was…

ʼDamn!!! This is good stuff!!ʼ

The cold sensation he felt from the metal was different from the scorching heat in this place. The fact that it could retain this coldness even after being stuck here for years was shocking. Anything wouldʼve started to give off heat too, especially metals, but this one didnʼt seem to have any issues with the heat here, and still maintained its usual coldness. He grabbed the handle and opened the door.
