Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

”No, no!” Charlie Rhodes struggled, but he was no match for these men.

The drug was forced down his throat. Charlie Rhodes felt as if all his strength had been drained away. The moment the men let go, he collapsed to the ground. He tried to vomit it up, but nothing would come out.

Ivy Sherwood didn’t want to know what Charlie Rhodes would be like when the drug took effect, nor did she have any interest. So she just left.

Because of that, she didn’t see him writhing and crawling on the floor after the drug kicked in.

An old man like him, rubbing against the floor like a dog, desperate for relief.

...

After leaving, Ivy Sherwood bought some snacks and small cakes, ordered a lot more food, and then headed to Nina Scott’s studio.

Nina Scott was still busy. The New Year was in two days, and she had a mountain of things to do.

”I need you to revise this part here, and this too.” Nina Scott directed her team. When she was working, she was incredibly serious.

Ivy Sherwood waited off to the side. Once Nina Scott finally finished up, Ivy walked over. ”Boss Scott, I don’t suppose you have time to grace me with your presence for a meal?”

Nina Scott was pleasantly surprised to see her. ”Ivy, what are you doing here! When did you get here? Why didn’t you tell me?”

”I saw you were busy. I didn’t want to interrupt.”

”What’s there to be shy about? You’re way more important than work.”

”Have you had dinner yet? I bought you some food, and I also ordered late-night snacks and milk tea for everyone at the company.” Ivy Sherwood brought the food over.

The food Ivy had ordered arrived, and the others began to thank her.

”Thank you, our beautiful and kind-hearted fairy!”

No one else in the company recognized her. Although Ivy used to come by often, she wasn’t wearing any makeup now, so the others didn’t dare assume it was her.

Ivy and Nina Scott went to the side and had a simple bite to eat together.

As they were eating, Nina Scott stared at Ivy Sherwood with a mischievous smile that made Ivy’s skin crawl a little.

”What is it, Nina?”

Nina Scott grinned. ”Ivy, did you go find yourself a man?”

”Huh?” Ivy Sherwood was taken aback by her words.

Nina Scott pointed to her own neck. ”The marks on yours are still so obvious. Don’t think I don’t know just because I haven’t experienced it myself. Spill the details. Where’d you find a boy toy? Or do you have a new boyfriend?”

Ivy Sherwood: ”COUGH! COUGH! COUGH!”

Ivy Sherwood was so shocked by Nina Scott’s words. How was she supposed to explain this? She couldn’t possibly say it was Quentin Blackwood, could she?

If she said she’d had a night of passion with Quentin Blackwood, she felt like Nina Scott might just skin her alive.

”I... I just spent a few hundred,” Ivy Sherwood said vaguely.

’She did give Quentin Blackwood money, so she could stretch the truth and say she’d paid for it.’

”I never would’ve guessed, Ivy! That’s the way to do it. Find a few more men, make that Quentin Blackwood regret everything. So, what was the guy you found like? Was he any good? Tall, handsome, well-built?”

Ivy Sherwood’s face turned as red as if she’d put on blush. ”Nina, you... I don’t even know how to answer that!”

”Haha, our Ivy is getting shy.” Nina Scott was delighted.

She felt like it had been a long time since she and Ivy had talked like this. They had both been so busy lately. But seeing that Ivy seemed to be in much better spirits, she was relieved. She had been worried, worried that Ivy wouldn’t be able to move on.

’Looks like not only has Ivy moved on, but she even went and found a man. Not bad, not bad at all.’

”Now that you’ve been reunited with the Mercer Family, do they know about the baby?” Nina Scott changed the subject.

Ivy Sherwood shook her head. ”No.”

’I haven’t told them yet. I mostly just don’t know how to bring it up. How did Mom tell Grandpa when she was pregnant with me?’

”It’s okay, have the baby and I’ll help you raise it! Though, now that you have the Mercer Family, you probably don’t need my help.”

Ivy said, ”You’re the baby’s godmother. I have to rely on you.”

”Alright! Want to get hot pot or some skewers later? I wonder what my godson or goddaughter is craving.”

Ivy Sherwood smiled. ”He wants Korean barbecue!”

”Okay, then I’m clocking out now. Let’s go get some barbecue!”

Nina Scott had everyone eat and then head home for the day, while she went to dinner with Ivy Sherwood.

There was a barbecue place right next door, and the two of them grabbed a lot of food.

Nina Scott asked, ”Ivy, can you eat all that?”

Ivy said, ”I’m eating for two now, of course I have to eat more.”

Ivy Sherwood couldn’t drink right now, but Nina Scott had a couple of drinks.

As the two ate, Miles Mercer sent Ivy Sherwood a message saying he was coming to pick her up. Ivy gave him the address.

Even though it had been a while since Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott had seen each other, they had endless things to talk about.

Ivy’s company had grown so much. The most famous perfume brand in the country now was probably Iris.

Moreover, Iris had established partnerships abroad and was now popular internationally. It was no longer just a small studio.

”So, what do you think happened with that Anna Nash and Silas Blackwood?” Nina Scott asked.

Ivy shook her head. ”I’m not sure. I haven’t paid any attention to them in a long time.”

Ivy hadn’t known what happened after the last chaotic incident.

”Well, I’m sure their lives are miserable. They deserve it!”

Ivy truly didn’t know what had happened to them. ’But my brother probably knows. I’ll ask him when I get a chance.’

After they finished their meal, Ivy and Nina went downstairs, just as Miles Mercer’s car pulled up.

”Oh, Little Sis. I see you were having dinner with *her*.”

Nina Scott didn’t like the sound of that. ”What’s wrong with her having dinner with me? When Ivy and I were eating together, you weren’t even in the picture!”

”Ivy, why is he here?” Nina Scott didn’t want to see Miles Mercer either.

Ivy said, ”My brother said he was coming to pick us up. Perfect. Brother, could you give Nina a ride home?”

”No, thanks. I drove. My studio is right next door, and my car isn’t far.” Nina Scott refused.

’Just thinking about Seth Scott’s driving made her nervous; she was genuinely afraid of getting into a crash.’

”Didn’t you have a few drinks? How can you drive?”

”I...”

Before Nina Scott could say anything else, Ivy Sherwood had already pushed her into the passenger seat. ”Just let my brother take you home. I’ll grab a cab back later. Brother, Nina is my best friend. You have to get her home safely for me.”

”Don’t worry. I’ll do exactly as you ask!” Miles Mercer promised.

’Even though he and this woman clashed, it was a task from his little sister, so he would definitely see it through.’

”Where do you live?”

Nina Scott told him the address.

Miles Mercer drove, and it wasn’t long before they arrived at Nina Scott’s place.

”I’m here. Thanks.” It was a rare for her and Miles Mercer to have such a peaceful interaction.

Nina Scott closed the car door. ”Well, I’m heading up.”

Miles Mercer got out of the car too. ”I’ll walk you up.”

”I’m right at my building. It’s just a few steps.”

”My little sister told me to get you home safely. This doesn’t count as home yet.”

Nina Scott thought for a moment. ”Fine.”

’I can offer him a cup of tea as thanks for driving me back.’

What Nina Scott didn’t expect was that when she went upstairs, someone was at her door, blocking her way.
