Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Cheryl Yates averted her gaze, not daring to tell Ivy Sherwood what she had done.

But it was obvious that if she didn’t give Ivy Sherwood an explanation right now, Ivy wouldn’t let it go.

Cheryl Yates’s eyes darted around for a moment before she looked up and said, ”Actually, I was just looking for a phone number.”

Ivy Sherwood scrutinized her. ’Let’s see what kind of story she cooks up.’

Cheryl Yates continued, ”You wouldn’t give me Quentin Blackwood’s contact information last night, so I figured you must have it in your phone. I just took a quick look. When you saw me typing, I was searching for Quentin Blackwood’s name. But I tried a few different names and still couldn’t find it. So, do you even have his number?”

Having found a very plausible excuse, Cheryl Yates’s tone became bold and self-righteous.

Ivy Sherwood looked into Cheryl Yates’s eyes. Cheryl met her gaze without flinching, not looking like she was lying.

’Is that really all it was?’

”And you think I’d believe that?” Ivy Sherwood didn’t say whether she believed her or not, instead countering with a question, hoping Cheryl Yates would give herself away.

”What else would it be? In such a short time, what do you think I could have possibly done? It’s not like I could’ve done anything malicious to your phone; I wouldn’t have even had the time.”

That did make sense, and Ivy Sherwood’s suspicion subsided a little.

”So, what is Quentin Blackwood’s phone number? I wanted to save it, but I couldn’t find it. Why don’t you just give it to me?” Cheryl Yates was still putting on an act.

Ivy had saved his contact as ”Death Exemption Token,” a name only she would think of.

Cheryl wouldn’t have found it, whether she searched for ”Quentin Blackwood” or ”Uncle.”

”If you want it, go ask him yourself.”

Cheryl Yates’s excuse was impeccable, and Ivy Sherwood was inclined to believe it.

Since it seemed Cheryl Yates hadn’t done anything, she decided not to press the issue.

”Cheryl Yates, we’re not cut from the same cloth. Don’t resort to these kinds of tricks in the future. If you really like him, then be forthright and ask him yourself!”

Cheryl Yates bit her lip. ’What right did Ivy Sherwood have to lecture her?’

It wasn’t that she hadn’t asked. Quentin Blackwood had just rejected her flat out.

He had shut her down decisively before she could even finish her sentence.

’What else could she do but resort to this?’

’But at least Ivy Sherwood wasn’t suspicious. And it seemed Quentin Blackwood hadn’t called Ivy to confirm, either. Otherwise, Ivy would know what she’d really done.’

Ivy didn’t press Cheryl Yates any further about what she had done, and quickly left.

’From the way Cheryl Yates was acting, she probably hadn’t found Quentin Blackwood’s number. Otherwise, she would have taken out her own phone and saved the number directly.’

’The security footage didn’t show her doing that, so she must not have found it.’

Ivy Sherwood hesitated, wondering if she should send Quentin Blackwood a message. She wanted to let him know that if Cheryl Yates contacted him, it was because she’d gotten the number from her phone.

But after a moment’s thought, Ivy decided against it. ’He’s so busy, and Cheryl probably didn’t get the number. I shouldn’t bother him.’

’After all, who would have ever guessed that ”Death Exemption Token” was him?’

The weather today was lovely. It was sunny and bright all day. By evening, a crescent moon had risen, and as the sky slowly darkened, the stars began to appear one by one.

By eight o’clock, the sky was filled with countless stars, a breathtaking sight.

Even from inside her room, Ivy Sherwood could see the beautiful sight of the moon rising over the sea.

’It’s so beautiful.’ Ivy Sherwood took a photo and sent it to Nina Scott.

That’s what best friends do—share things with each other. Whether it was beautiful scenery or good food, they always shared it with one another!

...

After spending all day getting ready, Cheryl Yates had applied her makeup to her own satisfaction and picked out what she considered her prettiest dress.

The dress was strapless and extremely short, barely covering her backside and revealing her long, slender legs.

Cheryl Yates had an excellent figure, and many people had complimented her on her voluptuous curves—a result she had achieved by hiring numerous personal trainers.

Whenever she dressed like this, men couldn’t tear their eyes away.

’Men are animals who think with their dicks. She refused to believe Quentin Blackwood wouldn’t be moved when he saw her dressed like this!’

Cheryl Yates arrived early, but she didn’t go straight to the pavilion. She wanted to wait until Quentin Blackwood arrived before making her appearance.

’Otherwise, if Quentin Blackwood saw her there first, he might not come over at all.’

The sky grew darker. As the night was so beautiful, more and more people came out for an evening stroll.

The area was nestled against the mountains, which meant one thing: mosquitoes. Although the staff had installed UV bug zappers, some of the pests inevitably slipped through.

Since Cheryl Yates was wearing so little, she was suffering from unbearably itchy bites all over her body.

Soon, her arms and legs were covered in red welts.

She was practically fuming, but the thought that Quentin Blackwood could arrive at any moment made Cheryl Yates endure the misery.

From twilight until the lights began to wane, Cheryl Yates waited until eight o’clock on the dot. Only then did she spot him—a figure so striking you could pick him out of a crowd in an instant and find yourself unable to look away—walking in her direction.

Cheryl Yates’s heart leaped with joy. ’It’s Quentin Blackwood!’

’Quentin Blackwood actually came!’

’But she could never get him to meet her. Why would he show up just because of a single message from Ivy Sherwood?’

’Could it be true what Yara Scott said? Is Ivy Sherwood really using her status as Quentin Blackwood’s niece-in-law to get close to him by any means necessary?’

’So that’s why she refused to help me time and time again. She has her own agenda!’

Cheryl Yates was going mad with jealousy. ’I’m Lustre’s number one socialite! How could I possibly be inferior to Ivy Sherwood?’

’Someone like Ivy Sherwood isn’t even worthy of shining my shoes!’

Quentin Blackwood hadn’t arrived too early, wanting to avoid giving Ivy Sherwood the impression he was too eager to meet.

’The view tonight is nice. Ivy Sherwood certainly knows how to pick a time.’

Quentin Blackwood strode over to the appointed place, but it was completely empty. ’Ivy Sherwood was the one who invited me, yet she dares to be late?’

Quentin Blackwood glanced at the watch on his wrist. It was eight o’clock.

Suddenly, Quentin Blackwood sensed someone approaching from behind. ’Has Ivy arrived?’

The next second, Quentin Blackwood’s brow furrowed.

The overpowering scent of perfume was acrid. Quentin Blackwood had always disliked perfume.

’This isn’t Ivy!’

Ivy Sherwood was a Perfumer, but she rarely wore any fragrance herself, as it would interfere with her sense of smell.

Her natural scent was very light and crisp, not this cloying, nauseating fragrance.

Cheryl Yates walked up behind Quentin Blackwood, intending to reach out and embrace him.

She wanted to wrap her arms around his waist from behind and press her cheek against his back. It always looked so romantic in the TV shows.

However, before her hands could even touch Quentin Blackwood, he dodged aside, giving Cheryl Yates no opportunity.

His gaze was piercing, his expression as sharp as a blade. ”Who told you to come here?”

Cheryl Yates’s eyes flew wide in disbelief. She never expected Quentin Blackwood to dodge her. ”How did you...”

’He hadn’t even seen me, so how did he know I wasn’t Ivy Sherwood?’
