Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 1166, The Battle Begins!

With a low rumble from the Slaughter Ancient God, wave upon wave of oppressive pressure radiated out from his body.

In an instant, everyone felt the crushing weight of that pressure. Even with Han Ke’s Skill, still circulating ceaselessly across the group, was unable to dispel the Slaughter Ancient God’s influence over them.

There was simply no helping it. Han Ke’s Skill could indeed Cleanse Negative Status Effects from a person’s body, and even when those Negative Status Effects had been personally set in place by an Ancient God, she could still cleanly wipe them away.

However, faced with such an absolute gap in raw strength, Han Ke’s own Skills were suppressed by several degrees, making it nearly impossible for them to perform anywhere close to their true capability.

It was like water being able to put out a fire, but if the fire were a towering, sky devouring blaze, then a single basin of water would hardly be enough to douse it.

Before the overwhelming Ancient God Power of the Slaughter Ancient God, Han Ke’s own Ancient God Power was, in the end, far too feeble.

Lu Fan frowned and summoned Xiao Cui, having her transform into her Divine Tree Of Life Form and release Life Pulse, hoping to use Dragon Language Magic to offset a portion of the Slaughter Ancient God’s influence over the group.

As wave upon wave of Life Pulses rolled out, everyone did genuinely feel a measure of relief.

It seemed that Dragon Language Magic, though it did not constitute as Ancient God Power, was nonetheless formidable. Given the Dragon Race’s extraordinary strength, it had already reached a level capable of contending with Ancient God Power.

Under the combined Skills of Han Ke and Xiao Cui, the Slaughter Ancient God’s hold over the group was already rendered negligible.

Even so, the Slaughter Ancient God was now fully unleashing his presence and was on the verge of striking. This great battle could not be avoided.

Being able to withstand the Slaughter Ancient God’s mere presence was one thing; victory was still a very long way off.

To defeat this kind of existence, whose sheer presence alone gave Lu Fan and the others a considerable headache, was by no means a simple matter.

The Slaughter Ancient God, observing that Lu Fan and his companions had managed to withstand his oppressive might and showed no particular surprise.

Without wasting any further words, he surged down from the altar and lunged straight towards Lu Fan and the others.

That enormous body came sweeping forward with suffocating force, and Lu Fan’s brow furrowed at once. He took the lead, leaping skyward, and in mid-air transformed into his Golden Dragon King Form, meeting the Slaughter Ancient God head on.

*Boom!*

The two collided violently, sending a world-shaking shockwave rolling outward.

What no one had anticipated was that even after Lu Fan transformed into his Golden Dragon King Form, with his Defence at a terrifying level, he was still thoroughly overwhelmed in that very first collision.

Lu Fan was sent crashing backwards through the air, and golden Dragon Blood spilt from his Dragon Mouth.

He beat his wings in mid-air and barely managed to stabilise himself, deeply shaken by just how fearsome the Slaughter Ancient God truly was.

That single exchange confirmed it for him: this was, without question, the most formidable opponent he had ever faced, second only to the Fallen Corpse Ancient God.

The resilience of that body far surpassed his own after transforming into his Golden Dragon King Form.

One had to understand, when Lu Fan transformed into his Golden Dragon King Form, he still had the Little Blade Armour Dragon King on him, providing a further layer of Attribute Enhancements.

Lu Fan’s Defence at this moment, even if it could not quite match that of a true Adult Golden Dragon King, still far exceeded that of an ordinary Adult Giant Dragon.

And yet, after that single collision, he felt as though his internal organs had been thrown into violent turmoil, while the Slaughter Ancient God simply remained where he stood, showing not the slightest abnormality.

Lu Fan reckoned that to surpass the Slaughter Ancient God in sheer physical toughness, perhaps only a fully grown Adult Golden Dragon King could manage it.

He was, after all, only a Dragon Tamer, having mastered merely a portion of power from the Dragons around him.

The equipment that granted him access to that power was not complete, and he only had three pieces so far.

It was through this Equipment Set that Lu Fan had been able to draw upon a portion of a Golden Dragon King’s strength.

Compared to a true Golden Dragon King, he was still far off the mark. Had the Little Blade Armour Dragon King not been on him, that collision would have been even worse for him.

This Slaughter Ancient God truly lived up to his name as something born for Slaughter.

That body of his was genuinely capable of hunting every living creature under the Heavens.

Lu Fan’s wariness towards the Slaughter Ancient God deepened, but at the same time his resolve solidified: in this battle, he had to bear the primary responsibility for attacking, and he could not allow Ye Wuxian or Jian Ying or the others to engage in any direct frontal combat with the Slaughter Ancient God.

Otherwise, given the level of Ancient God Power they possessed, one moment of carelessness could very easily result in them being grievously wounded.

“Jian Ying, Xiao Qiu, Tao Zi, the three of you stay on the flanks and manoeuvre around him. Do not get close!” Lu Fan commanded, then beat his wings and flew once more towards the Slaughter Ancient God.

Jian Ying and the others inside the Golden Asura King could see it clearly: a battle at this tier was not one they could afford to be involved in from the front.

Though keeping to the flanks might mean they could not provide Lu Fan with much direct assistance, doing their utmost to protect themselves and not add to Lu Fan’s burdens was absolutely the most important thing they could do in this battle.

And so, the Golden Asura King did not charge forward head-on either. Instead, with a single leap, it bounded up onto one of the enormous pillars atop the altar.

Several swords gathered into its hands, then dissolved and fused, finally forming into a large heavy bow.

The Golden Asura King drew the bow and nocked an arrow, taking aim at the Slaughter Ancient God and waited for it to expose an opening, ready to deliver a sudden decisive strike.

Although Lu Fan had not specifically reminded Ye Wuxian, with how experienced she was at combat, she naturally knew what she ought to do.

Ye Wuxian did not take advantage of her ability to transform into her Elemental Form and rashly charge straight into a head-on clash with the Slaughter Ancient God.

She transformed and soared up high, stretching her arms out as she unleashed fireball after fireball towards the Golden Asura King’s position and beyond.

Those flames might not deal tremendous Damage to the Slaughter Ancient God, but once they landed on the enemy’s body, they would not be extinguished, continuing to inflict Burn Damage without ceasing.

No matter how powerful the Slaughter Ancient God was, he would still have a headache dealing with that kind of sustained torment.

This way, Ye Wuxian had made her own contribution, causing the Slaughter Ancient God a certain degree of persistent annoyance.

As for Ouyang Bai Ge, she was to be one of the primary forces in their resistance against the Slaughter Ancient God.

In the earlier battle against the Sacred Jiang Family, she had consistently held herself back, not revealing her full hand.

Now that she faced such a troublesome opponent as the Slaughter Ancient God, she no longer held anything in reserve. She released one Void Insect after another from the Void World in rapid succession.

Some of these Void Insects resembled beetles, bearing a pair of enormous pincers, with a biting force that was simply astonishing.

They were small in stature and appeared unremarkable against the Slaughter Ancient God’s colossal frame. But once they landed upon the Slaughter Ancient God’s body, these Void Insects began gnawing at the scales on his hide, producing a crisp, crackling sound with every bite.

When Lu Fan had collided head-on with the Slaughter Ancient God just moments ago, not even that had been enough to scratch the scales on his body.

Yet these Void Insects were gnawing through those very scales with ease, which spoke to how formidable they truly were.
