Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 877, The Ancient God’s Past

Translator: Silavin

The Devouring Dragon King pondered the implications of the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s words, and immediately bristled with fury. “You said you need an ally and a Mount. The ally refers to this boy, but the Mount you are referring to is me!?”

“Curse you! The moment we leave this Negotiation Space, I’m going to smash your bronze coffin to pieces and desecrate your corpse!”

Watching the Devouring Dragon King ready to give the Fallen Corpse Ancient God a thorough beating, Lu Fan did not know whether to laugh or cry.

He hurriedly restrained the Devouring Dragon King, whispering: “Isn’t all of this happening within the Negotiation Space? You said it yourself, everything in the Negotiation Space is technically not real. Even if you kill it now, there’s no real meaning to it. As for killing it after we leave, that will be even more difficult. We still need to accumulate strength before we have a chance of killing it.”

“But I cannot swallow this grievance!” Although the Devouring Dragon King said so much, she still calmed down. She no longer showed intent to immediately kill the Fallen Corpse Ancient God.

Right now, with her and Lu Fan’s current strength, they were indeed not the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s match.

Though the Devouring Dragon King despised being treated as a Mount, she was not a fool. She knew when to be impulsive and when not to be.

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God acted as though it had not seen the two’s quarrel, remaining utterly composed.

Only after the Devouring Dragon King and Lu Fan both stopped speaking did it continue. “Dissatisfied with becoming my Mount? Why would that be the case? Becoming my Mount bears no shame; rather, it’s a supreme honour. Do you know what kind of existence my original Mount was? It was called the Crimson Ancestral Crocodile, a top-tier Monster from the previous era, with status no weaker than you Giant Dragons. My Mount was the most noble king among the Crimson Ancestral Crocodiles! But so what if it was a king? It still considered following me an honour.”

Pausing, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God continued. “A Mount is indeed one rank below me. But being one rank below me still means being above all things. ‘Below one person, above ten thousand.’ What’s wrong with that? All living beings in the world, even Ancient Gods, would still respect you and dare not provoke you. What’s dishonourable about that!?”

The Devouring Dragon King could no longer endure, saying. “Stop spouting nonsense! If you want me to become your Mount, you’re just being delusional! In this lifetime, this Grandmother can only stand above ten thousand people, and will never submit beneath anyone’s crotch! Want me to help you, to cooperate with you? Fine! You become my Mount, then I’ll consider it!”

The Devouring Dragon King’s attitude made the Fallen Corpse Ancient God lose interest in conversing further with her.

That featureless head turned slightly towards Lu Fan, who immediately felt as though he was being watched by the other party.

“And you? Are you willing to become my ally?”

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God continued offering conditions. “Your current Level is very low. If you’re willing to join forces with me, I can rapidly elevate your Level to the maximum, directly granting you all the abilities of your Ancient God Divine Seat. The Abyssal Ancient God is merely a Mid Tier Ancient God. You directly killed the original Abyssal Ancient God. I believe with your abilities, utilising the Abyssal Ancient God’s Divine Seat, you would be able to demonstrate strength equivalent to a High Tier Ancient God.”

“All the High Tier Ancient Gods fight independently. Until now, there has never been a precedent of two High Tier Ancient Gods cooperating. If you and I join forces, we will be able to sweep through all Ancient Gods. The ultimate victory in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy will inevitably be obtained by you or me.”

“If you’re willing, I can even let you become this era’s God King. In the next era, when the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy begins again, we’ll join forces once more, and I’ll be the God King. When we can cooperate like this, we might monopolise all the God King positions. The entire world will be yours and mine. You and I will be the Creator Gods, possessing everything in this world. All things can be changed according to our will, at our discretion!”

Lu Fan, without hesitation, directly refused. “Sorry, not interested. My only purpose here is to eliminate all you Ancient Gods. Beyond that, becoming a God King or whatever is something I have absolutely no interest in. I only need to protect this era, allowing my family and friends, my country, to reach a peaceful conclusion. That’s enough for me.”

“Hehehehe…” After Lu Fan finished speaking, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God laughed aloud. “If you can continue being an Ancient God, after multiple eras, when you recall your current thoughts, you’ll find them incredibly laughable!”

“Family, friends, country. In an Ancient God’s eyes, these are merely ephemeral clouds, like an ant you encounter on a path you’ve walked. Do you think that ant is a life you should cherish? No. You can choose to forget them, because they will quickly die while you will exist eternally.”

“You can even easily crush that ant, because as long as you wish, you can create all kinds of ants that obey your commands, embodying the perfect image in your mind. When you have this ability, why would you still cling to those inconsequential things around you?”

Saying this, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s head turned upward, as if gazing at the sky, falling into contemplation. “Back then, many, many eras ago, I too was like you, believing I possessed the world’s most precious things. I had a Family. I had friends. A Wife. And… a Daughter.”

Reaching this point, it covered its forehead with its right hand, laughing coldly. “Once, I desperately missed them. Even after becoming an Ancient God, I recreated them to accompany me. But later, I discovered this was completely meaningless. Becoming a God King, creating one era after another, that’s what has meaning. Now, I’ve long forgotten what my Wife’s name was. I’ve forgotten what my Daughter looked like. But so what? None of it matters anymore. I don’t need to remember them.”

Lu Fan’s brows furrowed slightly upon hearing this.

It seemed the Fallen Corpse Ancient God was once Human, having seized the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s Divine Seat. However, having been an Ancient God for far too long, its Human emotions had long since dulled. It was different from Ouyang Bai Ge.

Perhaps, after truly gaining eternal life, one would become like the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, viewing everything with complete indifference.

But now, Lu Fan dared not agree with the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s perspective.

Lu Fan smiled and shook his head, saying. “I truly hope that even after I become an Ancient God, I won’t turn into something  like you.”
