Wizard: Unlimited Profession Slots

Chapter 1319: Chapter 524: Engineer and Artist (Part 4)

”But,” he once again used that familiar transition:

”The very scarcity of such an ability further proves its value, doesn’t it?”

His gaze swept over each mentor present:

”If everyone could easily do these things, would we ’professionals’ still be needed?

Professor Weinard hires us at high salaries precisely because we can do what others cannot, correct?”

Ron continued his argument:

”Moreover, I never said we should train a large number of professional mentors in the short term. What I suggest is a gradual talent cultivation system.”

”First, the few existing professional mentors focus on training the most promising few apprentices;

then, once these apprentices become Official Wizards, they can take on the responsibility of training the next generation;

in this way, the number of professional mentors will gradually increase through this cycle.”

Hillas sneered:

”How long will this take? Ten years? Twenty years? Meanwhile, what happens to those apprentices who aren’t ’focused on training’?”

”They receive basic standardized education,” Ron answered without hesitation:

”I have never denied the value of standardized teaching. I just believe that when resources allow, we should prioritize discovering and nurturing individuals with the most potential.”

Cunning guy, Hillas cursed internally:

He keenly detected the trap in Ron’s rhetoric:

If this theory is accepted, then who decides which apprentices are ’geniuses’ and which are ’ordinary people’? The answer is obvious—of course, the ’professional mentors.’

And currently, so-called ’professional mentors’ mainly refer to Ralph alone.

This means he will gain the authority to select and train all high-quality apprentices.

This kind of power is much more important than a mere teaching position.

Thinking of this, Hillas’s expression became even more serious:

”Mentor Ralph speaks very eloquently.” He decided to take a more direct approach:

”But you consistently avoid one core issue—what are the standards for your so-called ’talent identification’? Who sets them? How do you ensure objectivity?”

”Without clear standards and transparent processes, this ’elite selection’ can easily turn into a nepotistic and biased tool.”

Good question!

Ron remained calm and composed:

”Mentor Hillas’s concerns are quite reasonable. Transparency and objectivity are indeed issues that any selection system must face.”

”However,” he smiled as he looked at Hillas:

”May I ask, do you believe that differences in apprentices’ talents objectively exist?”

”Of course they exist,” Hillas replied without hesitation: ”But the issue is accurately identifying and fairly assessing them.”

”Then, could you tell me whether Lira’s third eye ability, Gareen’s metal arm legacy, and Kael’s plant resonance talent are obvious enough that they don’t require complicated assessment criteria to identify?”

Hillas was momentarily speechless.

Indeed, these mixed-blood apprentices’ special abilities are quite apparent, almost self-evident.

”Moreover,” Ron continued pushing forward:

”The talent identification I propose is not decided by one person alone, but involves establishing an evaluation group consisting of multiple mentors and using diversified assessment criteria.”

”Specifically including: skills testing, actual performance, adaptability to learning, innovation potential, and other dimensions.

Each dimension has clear quantitative indicators to ensure the objectivity and transparency of the evaluation process.”

He considered every detail thoroughly, and Ella nodded secretly: this plan indeed sounds feasible.

Hillas felt his attack had been deflected again, and couldn’t help but feel a bit impatient:

”Mentor Ralph, you speak so eloquently, but ultimately, your entire theory is based on one premise—your personal teaching ability is truly irreplaceable.”

”If this premise doesn’t hold, all your arguments are castles in the air!”

You cannot guarantee that every apprentice can reach this level. Whereas my method can at least ensure they all master basic skills.”
