Chapter 1314: Chapter 523: Answering a Question with a Question (2)

After the story ended, a line of golden text appeared on the page:

”Little one, what did you see in this parable?”

Ron pondered over the story just told:

”Jerry succeeded in the end because it changed its way of thinking. It no longer adhered to the literal meaning of the recipe; it began to truly understand the essence behind each ingredient.”

”A good start.” The text on the page continued to appear:

”So, tell me, what is the essence of ’golden cheese’?”

”Noble, warm, mature...”

Ron thought aloud: ”These are qualities, not specific material forms.”

”So, the key to finding substitute ingredients is...”

The Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide did not directly provide the answer but continued to guide.

”Look for other things that possess the same essential qualities.”

It suddenly dawned on Ron:

”I’ve been searching for ’scorching mushrooms,’ but what I actually need is any carrier that can embody the ’essence of fire.’”

”Then, what is the essence of fire?”

This question sent Ron into deep thought.

He recalled the scenes he saw in the history of Stoker Star—the angry workers, the fiery furnace, the transforming metals...

”Passion and transformation.” He slowly said:

”Fire is not just about high temperature; it’s a force that changes the state of things.”

”Brilliant insight! Continue, what is the essence of water?”

”Inclusion and flow... the essence of wind is freedom and communication... the essence of earth is stability and support.”

The more Ron spoke, the more excited he became, as if the Gate of Wisdom was slowly opening in front of him:

”So I don’t need to look for specific forms of ingredients, as long as I find any carrier that can embody these essences!”

”Alright, you fully understand now.”

A smiling face appeared on the page:

”Form is the exterior, essence is the interior. A true alchemist is never bound by appearances.”

But just then, Ron suddenly realized something.

He stopped thinking and revisited the dialogue process he had just gone through.

The Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide didn’t directly tell him the answers but guided him to draw conclusions through a series of carefully crafted questions.

This teaching method...

”Wait.” Ron said softly: ”This heuristic guidance style...”

He recalled his own performance in the classroom.

When faced with students’ confusion, he also asked questions step by step, allowing students to find the answers themselves, rather than imparting knowledge directly.

”Come to think of it, the teaching techniques I’ve recently put into practice appear to be quite similar to your guiding way, don’t they?”

The text on the page began to refresh and then appeared with a line of playful words:

”A clever student always knows how to infer. So, what do you think yourself?”

This apparent avoidance only deepened the doubt in Ron’s heart.

He carefully recalled his teaching practices over the past few months.

In the Crystal Tower, besides the initial courses, in his advanced classes, those who attended were elite apprentices with sufficient levels and talents of their own, requiring no extra effort from him in teaching methods and talent stimulation.

But things were different here; not to mention the various psychological problems these mixed-blood apprentices faced due to their upbringing.

Just speaking of their power level and knowledge, in the class, those capable of reaching intermediate apprentice level were no more than a handful, with many aspects needing to be taught from scratch.

Teaching the mixed-blood apprentices on Green Ring No.2 was a difficulty level mode, where he should have been more at a loss. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

But in reality, he was instinctively using the most appropriate teaching strategies—listening, guiding, inspiring, instead of commanding and imparting.

These techniques, apart from some practical experience gained in the Crystal Tower, were more subtly learned in the dialogue with the Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide.

”You’ve always been teaching me how to become a qualified teacher, haven’t you?”

Ron directly expressed his inner speculation:

”It’s not just about mysticism knowledge but also includes teaching methods.”

”Oh? Why do you think so?”

The Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide continued to respond with a rhetorical question.

But this mode of response itself confirmed Ron’s speculation.

”Because you always answer questions with questions, always guiding me to think for myself, never providing a standard answer.”

Ron’s tone grew more certain:

”This is exactly the method I use in class. Letting students discover the truth for themselves, rather than passively accepting knowledge.”

The text on the page fell silent for a longer time, then appeared with a thought-provoking line:

”Perhaps true teaching has never been the transmission of knowledge but the ignition of wisdom.”

This sentence drove Ron into deeper contemplation.

At the same time, another bolder guess formed in his mind.

Ever since he obtained this Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide, the level of intelligence it displayed had far exceeded his expectations.

Not only able to answer various questions but also able to adjust teaching strategies according to specific situations.

Even showcasing distinct personality traits—humorous, wise, slightly mischievous.

This behavior was so similar to that of the ”King of Absurdity.”

”Are you... really just a copy?”

Ron tentatively asked:

”Or has a great being invested their consciousness in this book?”

The text on the page began to flicker uncertainly, seemingly a bit guilty.

After a long time, a slightly blurred response appeared:

”The boundary between copy and original, consciousness and record, is always more blurred than imagined... it’s up to you to decide what you think.”
