Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 59: Chapter 49: All Members, Prepare for Battle

Among the three mainstream types of Casters, Witches are the most unique—not only because Legends claim they are the origin of Wizards, but also because they are the only ones who don’t need to rely on Knowledge.

They only need to develop the power within their bloodline, and the potential of this power is absurdly high!

At a minimum, they’re guaranteed to reach the High-level.

Therefore, compared to Isaac and Cheryl, who still had to rely on Knowledge to crack difficult problems, Snake Princess Barbara was the most likely to find a solution directly from her own bloodline.

The power of a Witch was just that magical!

However, facing the expectant gazes of Isaac and Cheryl, Barbara first nodded, then shook her head before speaking to clear up everyone’s confusion.

As it turned out, her Magic could indeed summon Snake Monsters specifically to counter the Demonized Black Orcs. However, these special Snake Monsters were few in number; she could summon at most three—one large, one medium, and one small—which was nowhere near enough to be effective on a large scale.

Upon hearing this, everyone sighed in unison.

They were facing a conservative estimate of five thousand Demonized Black Orcs; three Snake Monsters would be of little use.

However, Isaac’s eyes lit up after hearing Barbara’s explanation. An idea struck him. ”Excuse me,” he asked, ”can you give me the corpses of the Snake Monsters you summon?”

Indeed, Isaac had thought of his Flesh Transformation Magic.

’It doesn’t matter that Barbara can only summon a few Snake Monsters. I can make plenty more!’

’Even if the resource cost is high, it doesn’t matter. Once I activate my Infinite Magic Power, I can meet any demand!’

HISS!!!

However, the moment Isaac spoke, before Barbara could say a word, her Magic Pet, the Cyan Snake, was the first to react. It immediately reared up from her shoulder, its pair of cold, serpentine eyes fixed on Isaac as its forked tongue flickered.

RIP!

As the Cyan Snake glared at Isaac, Demon Claw Harmon sensed its hostility and instantly emerged from the nape of Isaac’s neck. Its palm split open to reveal a blood-red Demon Eye that emanated an infinite allure, staring back at the Cyan Snake, not to be outdone.

At the same time, it didn’t forget to extend its little finger and gently poke the dazed Shushu.

Shushu froze for a moment. It looked at the Cyan Snake, then at Harmon, then at Isaac. Its developing brain couldn’t process so much information at once. It couldn’t understand why things had suddenly turned hostile when they had just been having a normal conversation.

’But even if I don’t get it, I know what to do when trouble starts: just listen to Boss Claw, no questions asked!’

And so, after a moment of stunned silence, Shushu’s plump body arched slightly, and it immediately bared its fangs at the Cyan Snake!

”Riven! Come back!”

”Harmon! Back!” Isaac called out as well, simultaneously raising a hand to rub Shushu’s head, getting it to stop baring its fangs and return to its dazed state.

”I’m sorry, Young Master Isaac, but that is a difficult request. They are my children. Please refrain from saying such things again.” Although Barbara’s tone was still respectful, it was clear she was growing impatient.

This was understandable. If she truly saw her summoned Snake Monsters as her children, his words had indeed been very offensive.

Isaac responded with an apologetic smile and said no more, turning his gaze to his father, Gaia.

”In that case, I’ll leave the research on countering the Black Orc Demonization to the three of you,” Gaia said. ”Tell Cheryl whatever resources you need. She will do her best to provide them.”

Cheryl nodded. Although these were special circumstances and many requests would be fast-tracked, they still needed to prevent anyone from using public resources for personal gain. That’s why they needed an expert to manage resource allocation.

Of course, this was really meant to keep an eye on Barbara.

Everyone understood this, but there was nothing to be done about it. After all, of the three Casters, she was the only outsider.

”Caesar, these are desperate times. Give up on that path for now. Focus on breaking through to High-level Knight first.” After speaking, Gaia sighed. Now he had not only let down his younger son, but his elder son as well...

’In the end, I haven’t managed to look after either of my sons properly...’

However, in contrast to the dejected Gaia, Caesar remained much calmer and showed little emotion.

He understood the current situation perfectly. Rather than continuing to build up his potential and waiting to condense a more powerful Authority, it was better to break through as quickly as possible now. Even the weakest High-level Knight was still a High-level Knight!

They were worlds apart from mortals!

After all, a long time ago, High-level Knights, just like High-level Mages, were once granted the title of Demigod!

Although High-level Knights were no longer called that, it didn’t mean their power had diminished. On the contrary, with the system being more refined now, a High-level Knight of the same Level was even stronger than their predecessors.

”Barry, I will give you the Black Snake Melting Technique and the Black Snake Essence Blood. For now, drop everything else and devote yourself completely to your Cultivation. It would be best if you can achieve a breakthrough before the Black Orc army arrives, but it’s fine even if you can’t. Every bit of strength you can gain counts!”

”Yes! Thank you for your gift, Lord Gaia! I, Barry Aide, swear to serve the Solomon Race until death!” Barry exclaimed, dropping to one knee with his right hand over his heart.

Remington, standing to the side, wore a complicated expression. He knew that if he hadn’t done what he did, all of this would have been his...

’But there’s no medicine for regret in this world. Once you do something, you have to bear the consequences.’

’I lost. I accept it.’

Caesar and the others, watching Remington out of the corners of their eyes, couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed that after withdrawing from the fight for succession, Remington had truly come to terms with things. He probably wouldn’t dwell on it obsessively.

But relief was one thing. Until the dust truly settled, the surveillance on Remington would not be lifted.

”I will contact the other High-level Knights,” Gaia continued, ”but don’t get your hopes up. We aren’t the only part of the Empire that borders the Wilderness!”

Everyone nodded. That was the most troublesome part of this crisis.

The transformation had affected all the Black Orcs throughout the Wilderness!

It wasn’t just the Black Orcs in their region. The entire Empire would be mobilized, which meant it might not be able to spare any attention for them.

In the end, they had to save themselves!

Of course, if they could hold their ground on their own, the benefits would be enormous. For instance, the promotion of Solomon’s Domain to a County would be guaranteed. They might even be granted additional territory. The four Barons could also accumulate a great deal of merit, which could not only be exchanged for rewards from the Empire but would also bring them much closer to the rank of Viscount!

So, despite the difficulty, everyone’s hearts were filled with a passionate will to fight!

...

Returning to his laboratory from the meeting hall, Isaac yawned as he walked to his desk. First, he copied all the Magic recorded in the Beast Hide Book, making three copies in total. Two were for Cheryl and Barbara, and he kept one for his own daily research.

As for the Beast Hide Book...

’Together with the Magic Book of the Master of Billions of Flesh, I’ll seal it away and toss it into the Dimension Space. There’s no way I’m ever using it, and I won’t let anyone else use it either.’

After giving the copies of the Magic to Cheryl and Barbara, Isaac collapsed onto his bed and fell fast asleep.

His deal with the Black Orc God had seemed easy and risk-free, but in reality, the transaction had taken a significant toll on Isaac’s mental energy. The only reason he had been able to hold out this long was that his body had been tempered by Magic Power. While it couldn’t compare to the physique of a Knight, it wasn’t bad, and his stamina was decent enough.
