Chapter 2607: Chapter 2608: Neya Tribe

The curly-horned half-blood demon originally didn’t have much malice, at least compared to the other pig, his malice was much more restrained.

But when he smiled and said, ”I would be very happy to answer,” a strong malice burst forth from his body. Most importantly, all this malice was directed solely at Angel.

However, even this towering malice didn’t affect Angel much. After all, he was always accompanied by Earl Mi, who released even fiercer malice. The malice of the curly-horned half-blood demon was indeed a small scene.

Angel was becoming more and more curious, wondering what he did to offend the other party? The malice was directed solely at him, and this hatred didn’t seem small.

”Sure enough, this bit of malice impact is useless against you.” The curly-horned half-blood demon didn’t appear surprised: ”You carry the scent of quite a few undead; it seems you have killed many undead.”

Angel: ”So you are targeting me because I’ve killed many undead? Is it the sorrow of foxes at the death of hares?”

”The sorrow of foxes at the death of hares, that’s an interesting description. But, it’s not the case.” The curly-horned half-blood demon said: ”I never consider myself an undead, so there is no premise for such sorrow.”

Although everyone classified the curly-horned half-blood demon as undead, his previous behavior showed he was truly unlike an undead—elegant, polite, and sensible, with no discrepancies except for his unwillingness to disclose any information.

”Then why do you bear malice towards me?” Angel sensed the surroundings, the other’s malice still lingering beside him.

Despite releasing such massive malice, the curly-horned half-blood demon remained very restrained, even speaking with a refined noble tone: ”Although I am now just a wisp of a ghost, I have never forgotten the glory before my death. And you have offended the very identity I was most proud of in life.”

Is that all?

Not only Angel thought this, but everyone else had the same thought. They all assumed Angel had previously offended this being, given how much he knew about the mysteries of the Underground Labyrinth. But unexpectedly, the other cared only about an identity.

Angel had offended his identity in life, which is why he released such immense malice and constantly referred to Angel as ”the rude one.”

Just how important was this curly-horned half-blood demon’s identity to him in life?

No one understood, and neither did Angel, but if it’s just for such a trivial reason, he didn’t mind taking back what he said and apologizing for it.

However, before that, Angel still wanted to know: ”Is it because I called you mixed-blood or referred to you as a half-blood demon?”

Angel had met many half-blood demons, many of whom leaned more towards humans since true demons didn’t favor this group of mixed-bloods. So some half-blood demons despised their demonic bloodline. Angel was wondering if this one was also the type that despised the demon lineage?

”I am indeed of mixed blood; referring to me as a half-blood demon is correct.” The curly-horned half-blood demon said calmly: ”However, what I hate is the phrase you said when referring to me as a half-blood demon.”

Angel thought for a moment; they had mainly talked about that pig demon general earlier. Regarding this one, he seemed to have only said one sentence: ”Mixed-blood of a curly-horned demon and Abyssal Natives?”

When Angel repeated the sentence, the malice released by the curly-horned half-blood demon intensified, and his previously stable emotions showed slight ripples.

Without a doubt, this sentence was indeed the source of trouble.

”What do you mean by Abyssal Natives? This is what you humans are most annoying about; humans have various races, and we also have different surnames and clans, but you just lump us all together as Natives, which makes me very unhappy...”

After the curly-horned half-blood demon finished speaking, everyone heard the Black Earl’s voice in the Mind Ribbon.

”This is a cultural difference. We humans, regardless if you are Wise Man, Carabits, Xis, or Hog people... as long as you’re classified as humans, using ’human’ as a general reference does not cause any offense. Even if some ethnic groups consider themselves nobler, they still accept the ’human’ collective term.”

”But Abyssal Natives are different. Some can accept us calling them this, but some groups with peculiar surnames are extremely averse to being mixed with other Natives. What they care about is their clan surname, not the whole group.”

Vay: ”So, that’s how it is... So, this half-blood demon’s spirit must have had a special clan surname in life?”

Black Earl: ”It’s almost certain.”

Dox snickered: ”In the Abyss, to have such internal conflicts just because of a clan surname claiming superiority is quite idle. Just let any demon appear, and no matter how noble the surname is, it would have to kneel.”

Black Earl: ”Saying these things now, there is no problem, as the strength of Abyssal Natives is indeed weak at present. But ten thousand years ago, those groups with special surnames were not weak; they could even rival Legends and each had miraculous talents. Ten thousand years ago, they were proud enough of their surname.”

When the Black Earl said this, there was a hint of emotion. After all, the majority of Abyssal Natives supported their humans, and many of the Abyss’s stronghold cities were built with the help of the Abyssal Natives. So when talking about their declining strength, he felt quite emotional.

”Why did their strength suddenly weaken?” Kaier wondered.

Black Earl: ”It’s not traceable, seemingly related to the fall of the old gods.”

Upon hearing this, Kaier stopped his inquiries, for things concerning the Abyss’s past and the era of gods’ fall were far too distant now.

”When I was wandering in the Abyss, I heard a rumor.” At this point, Angel’s voice suddenly appeared in the Mind Ribbon: ”The fall of those old gods is related to the Wizards’ Realm.”

”Do you mean, that the fall of the old gods was caused by Wizards? So the weakening of Abyssal Natives was actually caused by humans?” Kaier asked in surprise.

Angel: ”Handle present matters in the present way, let past matters stay in the past. Human stances can change at any time; perhaps one day, humans will stand with the Demon God. So saying humans are the main culprits that weakened the Abyssal Natives is not right. The standing today differs from that of the past, and the humans who could influence the fall of the gods are at a level we cannot reach. Why should we guess their intentions?”

After speaking in the Mind Ribbon, Angel looked up at the curly-horned half-blood demon across from him.

”I apologize for my remarks that made you feel angry.” After saying this, Angel bowed deeply.

Although the other party showed no emotional fluctuations, Angel continued: ”I believe that after staying in Naraku City for so long, you should know there are cultural differences between humans and the Abyss. I didn’t mean it on purpose; I know quite a few people with Abyssal surnames.”

”Oh, are you trying to use those Abyssal surname friends to establish connections?” The curly-horned half-blood demon chuckled coldly.

Angel: ”No, what I mean is, they are all friends. I could never intentionally desecrate them. The same applies to you; it was inadvertent.”

The curly-horned half-blood demon gave Angel a deep look, and the malice surrounding him began to slowly withdraw.

”Withdrawing my malice doesn’t mean I’ve forgiven you, just that I know it’s pointless against you.” The curly-horned half-blood demon said, ”I have already answered your questions; now, you may continue forward.”

After speaking, the horned half-blood demon began to slowly transform into flames, seemingly no longer interested in continuing the conversation.

Angel sighed and didn’t say much, signaling everyone to keep moving forward. Wasting time here was truly pointless.

However, what Angel didn’t expect was that as they moved forward, Vay, who always seemed like a docile homebody, suddenly started cursing at the horned half-blood demon engulfed in flames: ”Even the great Chaowei bowed and apologized to you, yet you still put on airs. Don’t think that the Abyssal Natives are so formidable now; it’s only by relying on us humans that they can barely survive in the Abyss. I called you an Abyssal Native, so what? We can’t kill you, but can you kill us? I bet you can’t even get out of this semicircle distance!”

After finishing his words, Vay let out a heavy ”humph”.

No one knew what the others were thinking, but Dox was looking at Vay in shock.

”You actually dared to provoke like this?” Dox’s eyes were wide open: ”Isn’t that supposed to be my job? How did you learn this?”

Vay: ”I didn’t learn it from you; I just think this Abyssal Native and demon hybrid is too ignorant of his own good!”

Vay deliberately yelled the term ”Abyssal Native” very loudly.

Dox gave Vay a thumbs up: ”It’s rare for you to be so impulsive. But if next time it’s me instead of Angel, would you speak so boldly for me?”

Vay rolled his eyes at Dox and didn’t answer. Protecting the reputation of an idol is the responsibility of a fan. You’re not my idol, so why would I care about you?

Listening to the conversation between Vay and Dox, Angel vaguely sensed that Vay might have said this for him.

Perhaps it was because Angel had spoken for Vay in front of the Black Earl earlier, and this was a form of repayment?

However, this was a bit too impulsive.

Angel clearly felt a huge emotional fluctuation from the horned half-blood demon for the first time.

Previously, even when Angel mentioned Abyssal Natives, the other party’s emotions only showed small ripples. But now, there were at least continuous waves.

Angel wanted to say a few words to Vay but felt that since the other was speaking for him, criticizing wasn’t appropriate. Angel could only look at the Black Earl, after all, Vay was a descendant of the Black Earl, and it should be the Black Earl who should discipline him.

But Angel noticed that the Black Earl was quietly resting in Vay’s hand at the moment. Although he said nothing, the emotions exuded were somewhat... satisfied?

Was this an affirmation for Vay?!

Angel rubbed his temples, wondering why even the Black Earl thought Vay’s words were commendable?

Angel was genuinely helpless this time; it seemed destined that they would be at odds with this horned half-blood demon.

Fine, so be it. Angel wasn’t afraid of this horned half-blood demon anyway.

If the other side was really going to confront them, they would likely be the ones suffering in the end. Besides, Angel had bound them with the Magical Energy Array, and they wouldn’t die unless the array was broken. While this was true, Angel also had ways to isolate them individually. Although it would take a lot of time, if they were truly at odds, then there was no need to leave survivors, better to vanish directly.

Angel had already begun to silently plan his words, intending for the Black Earl and Dox to restrain those two demon spirits while he dealt with the Magical Energy Array, and upon separation, completely exterminate the soul.

However, before Angel could articulate his plan, the horned half-blood demon reverted to a spirit-like form.

The horned half-blood demon didn’t summon the ”little pig,” nor did it show any malice. It merely stared quietly at Vay: ”You say the natives now rely on humans to survive in the Abyss?”

”What’s the matter, are you curious? You just said you wouldn’t answer our questions; if you don’t answer, I won’t either. I’m not telling you!” Vay blurted out without thinking.

The horned half-blood demon turned its gaze slowly towards Angel.

Angel thought for a moment and nodded: ”He is mostly right, but the various indigenous peoples in the Abyss are also divided into factions, and not all have allied with humans; some have also fallen under the domain of demons.”

As soon as Angel finished speaking, once again, the emotions of the horned half-blood demon fluctuated, even more than when Vay cursed earlier!

”Under the domain of demons?” The horned half-blood demon’s voice was very calm, but its emotions were like a rolling sea: ”Can you tell me which tribes have fallen under the domain of demons?”

From this question, it could be inferred that the horned half-blood demon seemed more enraged by the Abyssal Natives falling under the domain of demons.

But clearly, it had half the blood of a horned demon itself?

So is this one staunchly proud of its tribal heritage, with a strong aversion to demons? But previously, there was no hint that it was displeased with its mixed blood!

Angel had many questions in his mind, but he also understood that even human thoughts couldn’t be the same, let alone a half-blood demon from a different culture. Perhaps the other party merely viewed the demon bloodline as a power resource, and still adhered to the glory of the tribes?

Angel: ”I don’t know much about the Abyss; I only know a few of the tribal native groups. Which tribe do you want to know about, and I’ll see if I’ve heard of it.”

Angel said this, intending to find out which tribe the horned half-blood demon might belong to.

However, the horned half-blood demon wasn’t foolish either: ”You just need to say what you know.”

Seeing that the other party wasn’t taking the bait, Angel could only shrug: ”Alright then, let’s start with the Neya Tribe. Do you know of the Neya Tribe?”

”I know, the lineage of the former Savior.”

”Savior?”

The horned half-blood demon was noticeably more talkative than before and explained: ”I can’t elaborate much on the specific circumstances, but in the old days of the Abyss, a Savior indeed emerged from the Neya lineage. They possessed a very noble bloodline.”

Angel raised an eyebrow and said: ”A noble bloodline, huh? Unfortunately, it’s just past glory now.”
