Chapter 2083: Chapter 2084: Maze Machinist Valen

After a few seconds, the dark void seemed to transform into a deep abyss, abruptly spitting out a faint light from its depths, which gradually turned into an arc of light.

At the moment when the arc of light reached its brightest.

An unimaginably gigantic magical creature gradually revealed the outline of its head.

The arc of light seen earlier was the ”lamp” on this creature’s forehead, similar to the anglerfish of the deep sea, illuminating the endless road of the dark void for it.

It sailed silently, appearing without any warning, like thunder striking on a clear ground.

Angel couldn’t fathom how large this magical creature was, as he could currently only see the outline of its head, but just its scarlet, glowing eyes were as large as a hill. One could imagine how colossal this magical creature that survived in the void must be.

Angel was staring at this terrifying magical creature from behind a dome.

Even though the dome shielded all oppressive forces and aura, just looking into its eyes, Angel felt a powerless chill born from deep within his heart...

The Dalmatian beside him continued barking at the magical creature in the void, but the creature seemed not to hear the Dalmatian’s voice, only gazing at this small dome with its huge, greedy eyes.

Angel didn’t know what this creature intended to do, but he instinctively took a few steps back.

If this creature intended to destroy the dome, he must quickly find a route of retreat.

”Liani Magic Whale...”

A message subtly emerged beside him, and Angel glanced back at the Void Traveler in the treasured birdcage, realizing the message came from it.

Angel was preparing to further delve into this message, but at that moment, a sudden sound came from behind.

Tap, tap, tap—

Two footsteps, one was the familiar tapping of leather shoes hitting the ground, the other was heavier, like a horse fitted with horseshoes, each step carrying a sharp metallic sense.

Angel didn’t turn around, hiding the fearful expression facing the outside of the dome, suddenly discarding it. — He hadn’t forgotten he was still playing the part of Shava.

Angel gazed indifferently at the gigantic magical creature outside the dome, like an absolutely calm observer.

The footsteps approached his side, and Angel casually glanced with the corner of his eye, seeing it was the Fez Gentleman who had left and returned.

And standing roughly a step behind the Fez Gentleman was a figure enveloped entirely in steam and iron armor.

The Fez Gentleman looked at the gigantic magical creature outside the dome, with no trace of anxiety or fear around him, even leisurely extending his hand and waving outside: ”Oh my, oh my, we’ve met again, my old friend, mutated void little magic whale~”

”Almost forgot, you can’t see inside; that greeting was in vain.”

”Today I’m entertaining the esteemed Lady Shava; why not come back tomorrow? Seems like you won’t, so I will have to expel you...”

As soon as the Fez Gentleman finished speaking, the eerie blue light on the dome suddenly intensified.

As the light flickered continuously, the gigantic magical creature’s head — previously nearly against the dome — slowly retreated.

It arrived silently and departed in the same manner.

It seemingly indeed visited like an ”old friend” as described by the Fez Gentleman.

But Angel hadn’t forgotten the creature’s eyes filled with greed for the dome. Such pure, unemotional gaze represented the creature’s inner intentions.

Its relationship with the Fez Gentleman was definitely not that of old friends, perhaps even adversarial.

However, this had nothing to do with Angel since the creature retreated voluntarily, which was ultimately for the best; he didn’t want any disturbances on the verge of his departure.

As the void around them returned to tranquility, Angel casually spoke: ”Your old friend seems to covet this place of yours.”

”I’m not even sure what it covets; it often comes here... Perhaps it’s my power furnace?”

”As such, to satisfy its needs, recently I’ve been devoted to researching a power furnace capable of bearing this void little magic whale,” the Fez Gentleman said with a sigh, ”Unfortunately, the usage of Nightmare Light is decreasing, and I’m not sure if I can apply for more from Lord Nuka.”

Nightmare Light? Angel’s mind flashed back to the faint red light seen from Rainbow Mountain.

Why did the Fez Gentleman suddenly mention Nightmare Light? Could it be—

”Was Nightmare Light mixed into the power furnace?”

”Lady Shava saw through that as well? The main component of the Origin of Chaos is diluted Nightmare Light. Previously, before Lord Nuka descended, it could be used freely. But now, all Nightmare Light has been collected by Lord Nuka, leaving me unable to modify that little magic whale.” The Fez Gentleman spoke with deep regret.

Angel suddenly understood. No wonder the Fez Gentleman had said before when introducing the Origin of Chaos: ”As long as slaughter continues, as long as nightmares persist, the energy of the Origin of Chaos will perpetually endure.”

The mention of persistent nightmares likely referred to Nightmare Light.

The more he understood about the power furnace, the lower his expectations for it became.

Not to mention the power furnace might subtly drive one to madness; just the fact that its main component, Nightmare Light, greatly reduced Angel’s interest.

As a well-read Alchemist, he was entirely unfamiliar with Nightmare Light, indicating that it was exceedingly rare. This meant that the power furnace might be difficult to replicate in the Wizards’ Realm, rendering its effectiveness inconsequential if unreplicable, not to mention its potential inefficacy.

Angel furrowed his brows, opting not to pursue the topic of Nightmare Light further, instead turning his attention to the other person behind the Fez Gentleman.

Admittedly, the servant brought by the Fez Gentleman conformed perfectly to Angel’s aesthetic.

Its style still adhered to steampunk.

Standing approximately two and a half meters tall, its entire body was covered in armor.

Its armor resembled a steel fortress, adorned with intricate gears and steam machinery, even its visage composed of a golden hooded mask made of bearings, one eye having an eerie symbol drawn with white paint, the other a red telescope.

Standing there quietly, it invoked in Angel a fascinating longing for machinery.

Noticing Angel’s gaze, the Fez Gentleman remembered his primary purpose, introducing Angel: ”Lady Shava, this is one of my servants, the Machinist Warren. He usually patrols the east section and the exit of the Maze Candle Corridor, repairing broken power furnaces for me, and occasionally creates Black Nightmare Fiends for the Seed of Distortion experimentation.”

The Machinist Warren gazed at Angel, the red telescope in its eye flashing a bright light.

This light shifted from a vigilant scarlet to a calm glimmer.

Following this, the Machinist Warren slowly knelt on one knee, performing a chest-hand salute to Angel.
