Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1810: Section 1811: Closed Airport

During the flight, Asaz encountered several ruins again, some only showing an entrance, while others had their full structure revealed. For instance, below them, on a small hill, there appeared a group of ancient buildings shimmering with halos, clearly visible as exposed ruins.

Traces of human activity could be seen near this ancient architectural group.

After seeing these varied ruins, Asaz slowly calmed down from his initial shock and awe.

The ruins in other places might be precious, but there are simply too many ruins on the Pamiji Plateau... Moreover, each ruin seems to have been developed, rendering them basically valueless.

Half an hour later, the gondola finally officially entered the Central District of Pamiji Plateau. At this moment, Sanders looked up, his expression tense and surveying the surrounding situation, trying to see if there were any anomalies as Zithraide had mentioned.

A cool breeze brushed against the wandering clouds. The color of the sky was as blue and flawless as a gem.

The spatial energy around was not too chaotic, and the primordial magic was at normal levels. Everything seemed very calm, showing no signs of anomaly.

Sanders shifted his gaze to the ground. On the high-altitude plains, besides the desolate land and the disordered cold-resistant plants, there were large swathes of cold-colored stones.

On some empty ground, there were tracks and hoof prints left recently, indicating recent human activities nearby.

Sanders closed his eyes briefly, his spiritual power penetrating the surface. Beneath the ground, he saw underground steam train tracks, likely connections from Night Demon City to various underground villages. There were oil spots on the tracks, indicating that some steam train had passed through within a day.

Everything looked peaceful and harmonious on both the surface and underground. Sanders mused inwardly that Zithraide’s alarming words seemed somewhat exaggerated; has Barbarian Cave already handled the danger? Or is the danger hidden more discreetly and in more unknown places?

Sanders didn’t know, but he continued to quietly observe.

But even when the gondola reached the great pit gorge on Pamiji Plateau, there wasn’t anything unusual.

Once inside the great pit, they would reach the endpoint—the entrance to the Mirror World.

”Looks like I overthought things.” Sanders mused.

On the other hand, Greya stopped communicating with Angel, stretched lazily, and put on her red heart-shaped sunglasses again: ”Finally arrived, I heard at a small tea party before leaving Sky Mechanical City that Lianna seems to have returned to Barbarian Cave. Later, I might go to the Rose Garden, have tea with her, and chat about how to arrange the next big tea party.”

As Greya spoke, she gestured for Asaz to lower the gondola.

When the gondola hovered above the pit, Asaz looked at the dark cavern below, feeling slightly uneasy as if about to fall into a giant abyssal maw.

However, with Greya urging beside him, Asaz dared not pause and continued to navigate the gondola downwards. From approaching the ground to penetrating it, deeply into the pit.

About ten seconds into the descent, Greya suddenly frowned: ”Something feels off.”

It wasn’t that Greya sensed something, but given the descent speed, the surroundings shouldn’t be this dark because there was an air harbor nearby in Windmill Town for airships to dock.

Meaning, light from the harbor should be visible on the cliff. It shouldn’t be entirely like the eternal dark Earth Cavern now.

Before Greya finished speaking, Sanders had already noticed something wrong. He directly projected his spiritual power into the cliff, his vision rapidly shifting, quickly approaching the area near Windmill Town’s airport.

”Today it seems Windmill Town’s air harbor is resting. I’ve seen repair signs near the harbor.” Angel’s voice then sounded.

Sanders glanced at Angel and nodded to confirm his words.

Greya: ”That’s the situation...” Greya signaled Asaz to continue descending, then looked towards the darkness opposite her, knowing Angel was there.

”Does the air harbor usually undergo maintenance?”

Angel: ”I’m not very familiar with it.”

Sanders: ”It does undergo maintenance. However, it’s typically scheduled for the seventh day of the month’s beginning, during Windmill Town’s rest period, when no one travels.”

Greya: ”But today is outside the usual time frame; was there an incident? Like, damage to the harbor, or something happening in Windmill Town.”

After speaking, Greya immediately negated her own thoughts.

It’s unlikely anything has happened. After all, Windmill Town is very close to Barbarian Cave. Any disturbance in Windmill Town would affect Barbarian Cave. Backed by such a large wizard organization, if something were wrong with Windmill Town, it’d truly be a slap in Barbarian Cave’s face.

Therefore, it’s highly unlikely something’s happened in Windmill Town.

Sure enough, as the gondola approached the pit’s bottom, dim lights appeared on either side of the cavern walls, alongside various openings, winding wall paths, and bustling crowds.

These are the ordinary people living in Windmill Town, who use the transport tracks to move food and daily necessities for sale in Barbarian Cave.

This is how Windmill Town makes a living.

With these people still operating continuously, it indicates Barbarian Cave is still maintaining a stable life.

However, Angel noticed that although these people were doing the same tasks as before, their expressions seemed much more solemn than in the past. Previously, when Angel returned from the Mirror World, there could be some joking tones, but now the atmosphere seemed significantly heavier.

Is the atmosphere truly changed, or influenced by Zithraide, making them subconsciously imagine worse scenarios?

Currently, Angel couldn’t determine, but there was no need to deliberately discern, as they’d understand once back at Barbarian Cave.

When they were about ten meters from the bottom mirror surface, Angel retracted the gondola.

They fell directly, yet upon approaching the mirror surface, everyone seemed transformed into feathers, gently and stably landing on the mirror surface.

Angel observed around, but no white smoke or figures emerged, indicating Lady Mirror was still not awake.

”Let’s head inside.” Sanders took out his cane, tapping the mirror surface lightly, and light began to disperse, revealing a passage before them.

Just as they were about to enter the passage, a cry sounded from the cave openings within the cliff.

”Ah! Why is Yva here; how did he escape!”

”Quick! Restrain him!”

”No, we mustn’t touch him!”

”We are near the entrance; let’s find the Honorable Wizard!”

As they spoke, several sweaty men rushed out from the cave openings. Upon emerging, they first laid eyes on Angel and the others.

These mortals naturally wouldn’t recognize Angel and the others, but the shimmering mirror indicated their Transcendent identity.

”Thank goodness! It’s the Honorable Wizard!”
