Warlock Apprentice

You might as well guess, where was the arrow shot from?

What does this mean?

When Angel left the Infinite Battle Tower, he was still pondering this question. This sentence is undoubtedly a threat to Rosen. So is it literal or metaphorical?

Angel personally thinks that it may not be the literal meaning. The so-called ”shooting an arrow” should refer to a retaliatory attack on Rosen?

Whether it’s literal or metaphorical, what’s certain is that if that person didn’t lie, the likelihood of them taking retaliatory action is very high.

Angel doesn’t need to worry about Rosen’s safety; after all, Sky Mechanical City is an airtight Steel Fortress, and Rosen basically never leaves here, so safety should be assured.

But it’s worth noting that since they want revenge, they will naturally descend upon the Southern Domain. And once these seed believers arrive, it is highly likely to become a disaster that destroys faith.

Upon careful consideration, Antonio’s worries are not misplaced.

After all, sometimes revenge doesn’t necessarily mean attacking Rosen. For example, spreading the seed’s faith in Sky Mechanical City or Yirong Country is also a form of revenge and even more terrifying.

Angel shook his head, temporarily discarding these complex thoughts.

What he can think of, Rosen and Antonio can certainly think of too. As the lord of a city, Rosen surely has preventive measures. So, Angel thought about it and decided not to worry too much.

Temporarily putting aside the matter about the seed believers, Angel flew towards Manshi Magic Material Street; barring any surprises, he would leave Sky Mechanical City in the next two days, and before leaving, he planned to buy some supplies.

After buying some basic alchemy materials from Nail Alchemy House, Angel prepared to fly back to the manor.

This journey just happened to pass Benzwei Curve Modification, and when Angel looked down from the sky, he noticed that even during the daytime, it remained bustling.

While flying over the square he passed yesterday, Angel paused for a moment as he found that the clown from yesterday was still handing out flyers for his magic performance.

And surprisingly, while those who received the flyers yesterday were disdainful, some even directly discarded them; today, there was a change. Those receiving the flyers were carefully examining the flyers’ promotions, discussing with others from time to time, and some were even heading towards the Grand Theater, seemingly preparing to buy tickets.

Although this change hasn’t reached the point of fundamentally changing people’s hearts, it still surprised Angel. Because, less than half a day from Sharley’s first performance, such a change occurred with her second one. Angel remembered that Sharley would perform for half a month consecutively. What would the situation be like half a month later?

While Angel was observing the change in the square’s atmosphere, he suddenly felt a gaze seemingly cast from below, watching him.

While flying, Angel hid his figure, so if someone could lock onto him, their strength must be at the same level or even higher.

The other party didn’t hide themselves, and Angel easily captured their figure. To his surprise, the gaze’s owner was Oupulia. He stood at the theater’s entrance, holding a ticket, seemingly ready to enter.

Despite the distance, with Angel’s current sight, he could tell that the ticket in Oupulia’s hand was for Sharley’s second magic performance.

”You remember you seemed to have just seen the magic performance yesterday?” Angel didn’t descend but directly constrained his voice into Oupulia’s ear.

Oupulia was silent for a moment: ”This performance is worth seeing a second time.”

”From what you said, is the magic performance exciting?”

Oupulia: ”From a magic perspective, Sharley has produced some artistic effects, but the height is ultimately limited. What draws me precisely is the card performance.”

”Oh? Specifically how?” Angel asked leisurely.

But Oupulia didn’t directly answer and instead said: ”I remember that the Transcendental Wizard is from the Illusion Series? Why not come see for yourself? Sharley’s card magic involves the illusion domain. Perhaps it might inspire you.”

Angel: ”...” That deck of cards is exactly what he refined; how could it not involve illusions!

Angel felt embarrassed to brag and could only change the topic: If merely using the illusionary realm to perform magic, why would Oupulia be attracted?

Regarding this question, Oupulia answered quite peculiarly.

”Each card corresponds to an illusion; each illusion has its unique meaning, and a deck of cards forms a performance stage. Different poker combinations can create different illusions; the different suits and ranks possess a very hidden inner logic.” Oupulia paused: ”Don’t you think it’s like various fates of different people, showcasing their lives on stage?”

Angel was silent for a moment and said: ”I feel Onassis might have a lot of shared language with you.”

Oupulia shook his finger repeatedly: ”No, no, no, I’m not talking about philosophy but fate.”

”Fate?” Angel only felt a head full of question marks. How could a deck of poker cards relate to fate?

”Yes, 54 cards, like 54 lines of unestablished fates; some are combined, some separated, some opposed, finally extending infinitely. When the poker is opened, the stage of the performance appears as an illusion, and every show will be unique. This is the so-called... the unpredictability of fate.”

Angel: No, it’s not.

Oupulia was completely immersed in his thoughts: ”I believe the creator of the poker cards should be someone who is in tune with my spirit.”

Angel: No, don’t say that.

I never meant that, reading comprehension isn’t done like this.

”That’s why I want to see it a second time, because the unpredictability of fate means it must be different from the outcome of the first performance.” Oupulia: ”Moreover, this gave me an inspirational idea for divination.”

”A unique card divination using distinct imagery as guidance for the future? How do you feel about it?”

Angel was about to respond, but Oupulia continued speaking, seemingly having completely forgotten he was conversing with Angel.

”If applied to divination, I feel 54 cards are too many. It can actually be simplified, like maybe 27 cards, or maybe 22?”

Oupulia was now entirely lost in his self-thoughts and murmuring, and Angel shook his head and departed alone.

Oupulia’s interpretation of the poker cards clearly exceeded Angel’s original intent; if he truly drew inspiration from them, it had to be his talent and luck.

However, observing Oupulia and others’ attitude towards the card magic, Angel had a faint feeling that this card form might truly become popular in the future.
