Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1441: Section 1442: Cicia, Who Loves Gossip

Should I hand over the door that serves as the anchor to the Thief of Time?

This is actually a simple choice, because the options do not involve changing a major variable in your life.

It’s like a classic scenario where your loved one and your blood relatives fall into a river at the same time, whom would you choose to save? Stripped of other conditions and with only two choices, no matter whom you choose, it will bring a great variable to your future life, because it’s difficult to have the best of both worlds.

However, the choice given by the Thief of Time this time is not like that.

If you hand over the anchor, there might be some variables to a certain extent; but if you don’t, it essentially equates to no change.

When you have confirmed that the Thief of Time has impure motives, then the best way to defend is to try not to change the status quo as much as possible.

Therefore, Angel’s choice can’t be said to be absolutely correct, but it will definitely not involve risk.

Of course, the simplicity of the choice given by the Thief of Time this time does not mean that he will always be like this in the future.

Sanders still solemnly reminded Angel that once he encounters the Thief of Time again, even if faced with such a simple multiple-choice question, he should not take it lightly.

Because the Thief of Time often sets traps in these choices, just waiting for you to jump in.

In the world, choices are actually made at any time, anywhere.

The answers are often a moment of creation and a moment of destruction.

Just like, at this moment on the other side of the middle realm.

Having just returned to Silent Hill, Falga, after a long silence, made a choice: he let go of his obsession with Angel.

This was not only because Angel had previously saved them all on the ship, but also because of the reality of the power gap. Moreover, continuing the obsession was unnecessary, as Angel did not regard him as a target, and it was rather ridiculous for him to view the other as an archnemesis.

Reality necessitates bowing your head, and life does not require pride at every turn.

By letting go of his obsession with Angel, Falga also let go of his pride.

As Falga’s mentor, Talos was very happy to see Falga’s change. However, when he learned from Wizard Ivan the reason behind Falga’s change, he was somewhat stunned.

At the very top of Silent Hill.

Inside a dilapidated stone tower that seemed to fall apart, the ruler of Silent Hill, “Eternal Silence Black Raven” Talos, sat at a withered wooden table, his scarred brows deeply furrowed.

In front of him burned a fierce fire, in which an image appeared. It was the scene recently recorded by the Ghost Ship in the sky above the dome.

As the image gradually faded away, Wizard Ivan, on the other side of the fire, said softly, “That’s what happened.”

Talos pondered for a long time.

As for their encounter, it could be divided into two parts. At first, when Isabel and her disciple along with Lady Kimberly “hijacked” the ship, it did not surprise Talos, for when Isabel had returned to the Southern Domain, Talos already knew that as long as the Black Castle remained in the Fairy Tale Town Wizards’ Alliance, one day the Ghost Ship would be reclaimed.

The second part was Angel’s advancement to Official Wizard and even standing on the threshold of the Path of True Knowledge. Including the rescue of the Ghost Ship, that accounts for this part.

When Talos learned of this news, he was actually more shocked than the retaking of the Ghost Ship by the Black Castle.

For a wizard of long life, Talos felt as if it were just yesterday that he saw Angel nearly dying under Isabella’s intimidation in Silent Hill.

But who could have expected that in the blink of an eye, Angel would break through the Great Barrier, become an Official Wizard, and even step into the threshold of True Knowledge?!

This speed was indeed astonishing.

Keep in mind that Talos himself was still wandering outside the great door of True Knowledge without a clue.

Talos massaged his somewhat swollen temples. Not long ago, he had learned of the turmoil Angel caused in the Abyss, of Angel becoming a member of the Development Institute… Every single deed, to Talos, was already a shock, and yet the repercussions of this shock had not ended and continued to spread to the middle realm where Silent Hill was located.

After some time, Talos took a deep breath and said, “The lineage of Illusion Demon Island is truly formidable.”

In his eyes, envy could not help but surface. Sanders’s eye for talent was more accurate with each, not to mention Sumishe stepping into True Knowledge, while Angel was also making his mark in terms of individual strength.

Such a favored son of heaven hadn’t appeared in Silent Hill, which was truly regrettable.

However, Talos had been reading a lot of magazines lately, and they recorded Angel’s experiences in great detail.

If Talos’s regret was just a momentary sentiment. Then once the news of Angel’s advancement to wizard spread, those who would truly regret might still be the White Coral Floating Island Academy.

Talos sighed and shook his head, saying to Wizard Ivan standing beside him, “Although the Ghost Ship was damaged, making a connection with Wizard Pat is not a loss.”

After all, Angel had plenty of potential and was already a True Knowledge Wizard in all but name. Plus, with his status as a member of the Development Institute, he would now be treated as a distinguished guest in any wizard organization, including the Frostmoon Alliance.

Therefore, it would be entirely beneficial and not at all harmful for Wizard Ivan to speak with Angel and maintain a good relationship.

“Wizard Pat has just been promoted, and he should be stabilizing his condition during this period. Once he’s stable, perhaps you could go to thank him…” Talos said.

Just considering Angel’s identity as an alchemist alone, it was already worth cultivating this relationship, not to mention he is also a potential prodigy.

Wizard Ivan nodded in agreement.

After Talos expressed his sentiment, the topic shifted from Angel to Falga.

“It’s a good thing that Falga was able to let go of his Obsession Demon. I know Falga too well, his excessive pride made him unable to see dust beneath his feet, and it also became the shackles that bound him,” said Talos.

Wizard Ivan nodded deeply in agreement. On the way back to Silent Hill aboard the Ghost Ship, he had witnessed Falga’s transformation first-hand.

Pride is not inherently bad. But when one bases their life on pride, the things one can see become increasingly narrow.

It was not a bad thing for Falga to put his pride aside.

“By the way, Falga told me on the way back that he should be participating in the New Star Tournament in the next few days,” Wizard Ivan said.

“The registration deadline for the preliminary round of the New Star Tournament is also approaching. It’s good for him to participate now,” Talos paused and then casually called out, “Cicia, help me call for Falga.”

Cicia is a small sunflower cockatoo, which Talos encountered during a disaster. At that time, Cicia was a newly born chick, forced to be abandoned by its mother due to the sudden rainy season. If it had not been for Talos, Cicia would probably have had to wait for death alone in its nest.

Cicia accompanied Talos through the toughest times and later, he brought Cicia back to Silent Hill, where he put in a great deal of effort to transform her from an ordinary parrot into a magical creature.

Talos called several times but received no response.

Turning around, he saw that Cicia was not on the windowsill.

Within Talos’ flock of black crow magical pets, the white-feathered Cicia was always the most conspicuous. Now, the windowsill was filled with dense black crows, and Cicia had disappeared.

Talos frowned, “Cicia was just here a moment ago, how could she disappear so suddenly? That critter, she wouldn’t have gone to chat gossip with Taros again, right?”

Cicia was fine in every way, but as a talking, mimicking parrot, she had one aspect that gave Talos the biggest headache.

It was her love of gossip!

The one in Silent Hill who matched Cicia’s penchant for gossip was Taros, so whenever Cicia vanished, it was likely she had run off to Taros’ place.

Meanwhile, at the edge of Silent Hill, a beautiful white-feathered cockatoo with a sunflower-yellow crown on its head perched on a giant stone.

This stone had a strange face on its surface, half its eyes open, half closed; half its eyebrows black, half white; half of it youthful, half aged; half of it laughing, half solemn—as if the face of a flamboyant young man and that of an aged elder were forcibly joined together.

“Taros, stop pretending to sleep, wake up! I’ve got major news!” After landing, the cockatoo immediately started pecking at the stone with its crimson curved beak.

“Stop, stop… stop pecking, I’m going to go bald!” “Have you forgotten you’re a stone, you’re already bald!”

The first to speak was the older face on the stone, while the younger face on the stone followed up.

“How dare you call me bald! I… oh, it seems I am indeed bald?” “Are you an idiot?”

“Anyway, I am you, and you are me. If you call me bald, you’re bald too. If you say I’m stupid, you’re also stupid!” “Are you looking for a fight, you old geezer!”

As they were about to start bickering, the cockatoo hurriedly interrupted, “Taros, stop it. I came to share some big news with you, not to listen to your pointless bickering!”

“Cicia, it’s always us who tell you the gossip. What big news could you possibly have? Could it be that Europa told you something? And how many times have I told you, we’re called Taros, not TarTaros!”

The cockatoo, indeed Talos’ magic pet Cicia, replied with some dissatisfaction, “This is truly big news, I just heard it from my master!”

“Oh?” “What news could there be from Master Talos?”

Cicia: “Didn’t you notice when Wizard Ivan returned just now, there were several big holes in the Ghost Ship?”

“Eh, that seems to be true.” “I also saw that there seem to be a lot of wounded on the ship, that’s why I didn’t go to ask what exactly happened.”

Cicia said proudly, “So, that is the news! Big news!”

Both faces on the stone looked at Cicia with curiosity, the older face obsequious, the younger face flattering.

Taros’ expressions managed to please Cicia excellently. She lifted her crown and announced word by word, “This major news is about the person you were most interested in recently…”

“The person we’re most interested in?” “Could it be Miss Man Yin from the Elysium Pavilion?”

Cicia spat out, “You’re a stone, what do you want with women! I’m talking about Angel, the very same Angel you mentioned a few days ago!”
