Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1429: Section 1430 Body Metamorphosis

Angel was unaware of the events unfolding aboard the Ghost Ship.

He was still in a state of surprise.

Time rewound to a few minutes earlier, when Angel had concentrated his entire soul in the Land of the Soul, waiting for an even stronger storm to strike.

Although for now, his soul felt not only comfortable but even somewhat refreshed; his mood, however, did not relax, as he still anxiously awaited the next wave of the storm.

The more intense storm arrived as expected.

Yet, what surprised Angel was that despite such a powerful onslaught, his soul still did not feel significant discomfort.

So Angel continued to wait for the next wave.

With each wait, Angel never lowered his guard, and each arrival of the storm was met with ease.

Just when Angel thought the unknown energy deep within the Land of the Soul was holding back a major attack, the Soul Land Storm came to an abrupt halt.

While Angel was still in a daze, a stream of purity and essence that was extremely refined and gentle merged into his soul without any defense.

The Soul Body underwent an unprecedented purification.

This sensation of purification was like the salvation and peace one feels in their heart when looking upon the body of a sworn enemy that they could not coexist with under the same sky.

All burdens seemed to be let go, leaving only tranquility and peace.

In the Land of the Soul, the Soul Body radiated with a bright and brilliant sunlight from within, closing its eyes serenely and curling the corners of its mouth into a warm smile.

Enjoying the serenity of the moment without any constraints.

The soul was harmonious, but Angel’s mind was filled with doubts.

Is that it?

Angel carefully examined the situation and compared the current state of his Soul Body to the state of “Purification Metamorphosis” described in the books, concluding that the Soul Land Storm had indeed ended.

Angel hadn’t even felt it start, and it was already over?

The process had no details that he found unbearable. The only thing that he found frightening was his own fear and nervousness of the “unknown.” However, this unknown was conjured by his own imaginings; in fact, no danger had materialized.

It was certainly good that nothing happened, but doubt still required an answer.

The explanations Angel could think of were nothing but a few tricks for dealing with the Soul Land Storm recorded in the books: “regular exercise of the soul,” “deep development of the soul,” “special souls receiving certain blessings when facing the Soul Land Storm,” “taking special potions”…

Aside from using external aids, the tricks recorded in the books essentially said: Apprentices of the Soul Sect would have a relatively easy time dealing with the Soul Land Storm.

Angel himself was not of the Soul Sect, yet he actually met several of these conditions. For instance, he frequently used his soul, and in almost every tough battle, he would undergo Astral Projection, which also counted as soul training.

Moreover, when he first received the Secret Soul Chant, he also learned from Isabel how to cultivate Soul Force. He had been practicing continuously over the years, so he hadn’t neglected the development of his soul either.

Lastly, his soul was also exceptionally unique, not to mention the inexplicable scar that seeped soul energy, which even Sanders couldn’t explain; another particularity was that his soul contained the origin of the Gravity Meridian.

All these factors combined may be what allowed him to face the Soul Land Storm with such ease, right?

After guessing the answer, Angel couldn’t help but ponder a question within his heart: in summary, his soul was very strong, which allowed him to perfectly handle the Soul Land Storm. So, could the same be said about the last battlefield of the breakthrough – Body Metamorphosis – considering his body transformation?

Energy, soul, and body. These three elements are the rigid requirements for a Wizard’s breakthrough and the three barriers that must be faced during ascension.

For Angel, among these three, his body actually stood out the most.

His energy was at a normal level, not much different from other peak Apprentices. Although his soul quality was decent, his soul power had, at most, reached the level of a Half-Step Wizard.

What was truly formidable was his body, which he had not valued highly in the past. His journey to the Abyss had pushed his body transformation to an inconceivable degree. In fact, the strength of his body alone had already reached the level of an Official Bloodline Wizard.

This was why Angel could resist most Wizard’s suppressions at the Apprentice stage, because his body could bear the brunt of it.

With his body as a foundation, the Phantom Limbs he developed could also be considered part of the “Spell Technique” tier.

From this, one could see a glimpse.

Thus, with his current soul strength, he was able to face the Soul Land Storm easily. Then, wouldn’t his body, having reached the level of an Official Wizard, also easily handle the last part of the breakthrough – the Body Metamorphosis?

With this question in mind, Angel entered into the process of Body Metamorphosis.

The facts proved that Angel’s guess was not wrong.

Body Metamorphosis is a sublimation of one’s bloodline. If one were to draw parallels with the situation of other Extraordinary Creatures, it’s a bit like the ‘Awakening’ of an Abyssal Demon.

It’s about forcing the blood energy to rise to a critical point for a sublimation of the body. This sublimation is a development of one’s own bloodline.

During the transformation, the bloodline continuously boils and metamorphoses, a process that, according to others, is extremely painful and can make people wish they were dead. Moreover, one must have a strong foundation to successfully undergo bloodline sublimation, otherwise, if the blood energy is insufficient, it is likely to result in failure.

Of course, it’s still possible to boost blood energy concentration using external objects, but such actions ultimately do damage the transformation process.

Angel approached the Body Metamorphosis with an anxious heart, yet that anxiety quickly vanished because his Body Metamorphosis concluded in the blink of an eye.

It was as if it were just a walk-through.

Angel only felt a slight warmth in his bloodline, accompanied by a faint stabbing pain, followed by a minor enhancement of his bloodline.

The excruciating pain akin to living death never occurred.

The extent of the bodily enhancement was also quite respectable, in the past his physical strength was comparable to that of a beginning Bloodline Wizard. But now, it had reached a level equivalent to the middle stage of level one. In relative terms, it might not seem like the “qualitative change” he experienced in the Abyss, after all, the first enhancement was from Apprentice to Official Wizard; however, in absolute terms, this enhancement was significant, belonging to the category of “quantitative change”.

Overall, the Body Metamorphosis reached the highest level Angel could have imagined, constituting a very perfect enhancement.

As the Body Metamorphosis concluded, the purification of the soul, or Soul Metamorphosis, had also just ended. From this, one could see how swift the Body Metamorphosis was.

The effects of Soul Metamorphosis were astonishingly good, completely different from the Apprentice stage.

However, Angel currently had no opportunity to test this, since his attention had already shifted away from these two “blink-and-you-miss-it” battlefields, refocusing on his Mind Space.

The domains of the soul and body, after all, are but sidelines.

The Whirlpool of Magic Source is the most crucial main line and the deciding factor for whether Angel could step into the realm of an Official Wizard.

Under normal circumstances, the second step in the Whirlpool of Magic Source development would involve turning to confront the “Soul Land Storm” and “Body Metamorphosis” due to the breakthrough challenger’s inability to intervene in the rotation of the Magic Vortex seed.

Generally speaking, as the Soul Land Storm draws to a close, the Whirlpool of Magic Source would also be nearing its end.

So this moment is critical for the challenger, who must simultaneously tend to the battlefields of the soul and the Magical Core.

By the time the embryo of the Magic Vortex starts to emerge, a typical Apprentice would have already dealt with the Soul Land Storm.

Then, they proceed to the third step: stabilizing the Magic Vortex.

In this step, they must not only stabilize the Magic Vortex but also deal with energy dissipation, distracting them to restrain the leaked energy, and furthermore, they have to confront the Body Metamorphosis.

Multitasking threefold.

And accompanied by the pain that comes with the Body Metamorphosis.

A slight error could lead to failure, and let’s not even talk about the cost of failure. — From this, it’s evident why becoming an Official Wizard is as rare as a blue moon; the challenge of breakthrough is such that every detail is scrutinizing the challenger.

The end.

Those were the steps of breakthrough for other Apprentices, also the most detailed records found in textbooks.

But Angel belonged to a special case; whether it was the Soul Land Storm or the Body Metamorphosis, he completed them faster than others. Thus, he could now concentrate solely on the Whirlpool of Magic Source.

The Whirlpool of Magic Source was now nearing the end of its second phase.

The seed of the Magic Vortex drove the energy mass to rotate, its own form had already become somewhat blurry, and now, the semblance of a vortex had roughly begun to take shape.

Once the Magic Vortex seed completely vanishes, transforming into a vortex that drives the energy mass to rotate, this step would be finished.

Angel watched quietly, waiting.

When the Phantom Shadow of the Magic Vortex seed disappeared from the center of the vortex, Angel’s excitement reached its peak.

Could the Magic Vortex Embryo appear? And if it did appear, would it function properly? Finally, could it operate stably? These three progressively linked questions began to whirl in Angel’s mind.

The Whirlpool of Magic Source, under Angel’s earnest attention, finally entered its third phase!

The Magic Vortex Embryo, revealed!

Angel saw the Magic Vortex Embryo, identical to his previous calculations, but he did not relax. Because having the Magic Vortex Embryo didn’t mean everything was alright.

The Magic Vortex Embryo was still just an embryo. To become an actual Magic Vortex, it had to undergo multiple tests, and eventually be stabilized using a special method; only then it would be considered complete.

The first test for the Magic Vortex Embryo: could it operate?

A simple question, but it could trace back to the initial design of the Magic Vortex seed by Angel.

Was the result of those calculations consistent with the now manifest reality?

Angel carefully observed the Magic Vortex Embryo, as time ticked away. After watching the Magic Vortex operate countless times, he used inductive reasoning to draw a conclusion.

The operation result was consistent with his initial calculations.

Meaning, the first test was passed.
