Chapter 1302: Chapter 557: Deliberating on Musillon_3

The Count’s Domain of Glamorgan is indeed rich, and Laine’s army is indeed elite, but its size is still too small.

This son-in-law of his is very aware of his situation and already has his own long-term plan. Francois is very pleased with this, having always taken pride in marrying Surya to Laine, and now this pride continues to grow along with Laine’s consistent development.

My daughter, you are now a Duchess, Francois couldn’t help but feel pleased, and his face betrayed his delight. Bohemond and Veronica had mixed feelings upon seeing this and both snorted coldly.

Thinking of his daughter, Francois asked with some concern: ”After recapturing Musillon, will you relocate Surya to Musillon?”

”Not for the time being,” Laine immediately shook his head, stating earnestly: ”At least not for a year or two, until Surya has finished childbirth and recovery, and until the corruption in Musillon has been completely eliminated. Only then will I consider relocating them to Musillon, or perhaps I’ll set the duchy’s capital in Gene in the future. We will see.”

”Hmm,” Francois was quite satisfied with Laine’s attitude. Despite having many women, Laine truly adores Surya. Francois senses from his daughter that this political marriage is extremely happy, and now with an eldest son, the major prospects are settled.

”Francois, Lord Bohemond, what I inherited was Landuin’s Musillon Duchy, not the Connaught Duchy after it was reduced,” Laine casually brought up this subject.

”Are you planning to reclaim the old Musillon territory in Southern Leonais?” Francois immediately realized Laine’s intentions.

”That rightfully belongs to me, and only to me,” Laine said seriously, ”I hope you can support me.”

”Reclaiming the old Musillon territory now... is indeed a good opportunity,” Francois frowned, naturally siding with Laine: ”The knightly nobles of Southern Leonais have all chosen to pledge allegiance to you. You possess Landuin’s inheritance along with formidable power, so dealing with these knightly nobles, who have been traitors before, means they dare not express any grievance. As for Leonais... nothing remains in the north but ruins, with fewer than eight hundred knights on the roll. Duke Aldred is dead, and Richard has dispatched people to locate Duke Dalheid, who is currently conducting a penance expedition. Though it may be somewhat unfavorable, now is indeed the best time to reclaim the old territory; it all depends on how you think about it.”

”Negotiations still need to happen,” Laine pondered aloud, ”Perhaps food aid, assistance in quelling revolts, and rebuilding the homes?”

”Hmm, you might also need to provide appropriate financial compensation. With these conditions on the table, the nobility of Leonais will find it very difficult to refuse,” Francois found this challenging too: ”However, specifically how to reclaim it will be a difficult process. Wait until you have restored all territories in Musillon before proceeding! Regarding those old Musillon nobles, Calon Castle provides a precedent for pledging allegiance to you.”

Francois referred to Calon Castle in the Imperial Middle Territory, which belongs to the Prince-Electoral Palace of the White Wolf Prince-Elector, yet the nobility within Calon Castle pledges allegiance to Emperor Carl Franz of Rick Territory. The most famous Great Sword Corps in the Old World obeys Emperor Carl Franz rather than Prince-Elector Boris Todbringer.

As Laine and Francois pondered their next steps, a young attendant entered the room, whispered a few words in Duke Bohemond’s ear, and respectfully withdrew.

”Allow me to interrupt briefly, Laine and Francois; we have encountered a new problem,” Bohemond muttered, appearing troubled by the issue.

”What issue?” Francois knew that anything troubling Bohemond must be a major matter.

”Lorne has returned. He has been brought back to Kulona by his mount, the Horned Eagle Beast Biquis. He is now gravely injured, feverish, and barely conscious.”

”How should we deal with Lorne? This father of Viper Matthew Bard, the Kingdom Regent, Duke of Connet, Lady’s Champion, and noble Holy Grail Knight, the last direct descendant of Caliod the Brave, one of the original twelve Holy Grail Knights?”

Both Laine and Francois found themselves in a difficult position.

”Perhaps...”
