The Versatile Master Artist

Gu Weijing stepped out of the lobby.

Gu Tongxiang was still leaning against the car with a healthy complexion, engrossed in his smartphone.

”I’m going out for a while, I might be home late tonight.”

Gu Weijing informed his grandfather.

”Go play by yourself. Grandpa has important business to discuss now, no time to care about you.” Old Gu didn’t even look up.

He was happily tapping away on his phone, with no time to worry about what his grandson was doing in the evening.

It seemed,

the old man probably didn’t even hear clearly what Gu Weijing was saying.

Gu Weijing looked around, and without much effort, casually took Ah Wang, who was strolling in front of their gallery.

He headed towards the last light of dusk, strolling along the embankment of the Yangon River towards the main road.

”Do you like Grandpa Wu?”

Passing by Old Wu’s antique shop, Gu Weijing scratched the soft flesh on Ah Wang’s chin that had recently been bitten, and asked casually.

In the evening breeze, the tabby cat immediately hissed to show disdain for the old fellow who was stealing his food.

Of course.

Ah Wang could also simply be having an outbreak of the oral inflammation that was just about to heal, making his gums itch.

Anyway, such a reaction was unlikely to be related to the noble love spoken of by Mr. Tree Sloth.

”Alright, we’re a noble, untamed, free cat.”

Gu Weijing nodded, pressing his palm gently against Ah Wang’s head and giving two presses.

This is a trick from ”Pet Mind Reading Skill.”

When stroking a cat’s head, you should gently press instead of kneading.

The difference is that kneading causes the pet pain, while moderate pressing triggers the tactile response of the pet lying next to its mother as a kitten.

Ah Wang’s little chubby legs kicked comfortably a couple of times.

The whole cat turned around in Gu Weijing’s arms, changing from lying on Gu Weijing’s arm to lying flat in his arm like a ten-pound baby.

Gu Weijing slightly paused his steps, standing under the shade of a tree by the embankment, strangely staring at the whiskers-twitching cat in his arms.

Ah Wang was lazily looking at him, sprawled out and looking very content.

In the movie ”Garfield,” the exotic shorthair cat often liked to sleep on the blanket in this posture.

In reality.

When a cat lies on its back in your arms with its belly up, it feels very insecure.

Only with very close people and very tame cats can this holding posture be unlocked; otherwise, you are likely to get bitten holding a cat like this.

Whoever said Ah Wang is a gentle cat, the scratches on Gu Tongxiang’s face and those five rabies shots would certainly disagree.

And now.

Ah Wang, so non-aggressively lying in his arms, opened his mouth not to bite but to stick out his tongue and try to lick his paw.

”What’s it thinking?”

Gu Weijing asked himself in his mind.

In nature, when cats express goodwill, they like to lick smaller offspring, marking them with their scent.

When facing a larger owner, they like to rub their heads, showing submission.

In fact, recently Ah Wang often licked Gu Weijing and Koizumi Katsuko, who fed him meat, though he rarely thought deeply about it.

After hearing Mr. Tree Sloth’s insight.

Gu Weijing suddenly had an intuition.

Ah Wang’s licking action now was neither submission nor treating him as an offspring but a very affectionate expression.

Probably, Mr. Tree Sloth was not wrong.

When the close relationship between humans and pets reaches a certain level, a spiritual bond beyond the laws of the jungle emerges.

The cause of all this, at its root, might be his exquisite massage technique and the delicious imported cheese cat food from Miss Sakai that even Old Wu would crave, wanting to stir-fry it with green peppers and cucumbers.

These materialistic, worldly things.

The emotions they generate are something transcendent above the primitive biological instinct of animals.

What is called the sprouting of ”love.”

Love can turn a Vajra into something gentle, and also make a cat lose its feline wildness, becoming obedient and gentle.

There’s a cold yet interesting fact in the pet community. Most pet cats or dogs kept in apartments will, after their owner’s sudden death, chew on their corpses out of hunger.

But there are also instances of them staying by their owner’s side, neither eating nor drinking for a week.

”Do you like me? Would you let me tame you?”

Gu Weijing lifted the tabby cat in his arms and placed it a few centimeters away from his eyes.

He stared into Ah Wang’s round emerald eyes under the not-so-strong twilight and asked this absurd and neurotic question that sounded nonsensical to nearby passersby.

Meow?

One man and one cat stared at each other.

Ah Wang might have understood, or maybe not.

Finally, he just stuck out his pink-white tongue and licked the tip of Gu Weijing’s nose.

”Alright then, from now on, you’re my cat, and I’ll ask Old Wu for you.”

Gu Weijing nodded.

When Gu Weijing went out in the evening, he was slightly delayed waiting for Dr. Jin to send over Tony’s information.

By the time he reached the street, Uncle Ah Lai’s car was already waiting there in advance.

Generally speaking.

Whenever Gu Weijing needed a car, Uncle Ah Lai would park it next to the tea stand at the end of the embankment by the commercial street.

At the entrance of the Yangon Scenic Area Commercial Street, there are many small tea stands specifically for drivers and the like to rest.

When bosses or jade merchants talk business, their attendants might wait outside for an entire day.

In summer, the highest temperature in Myanmar can reach forty degrees; waiting in the car could be extremely hot.
