The Versatile Master Artist

Miss Elina silently watched the sunset for a while, then lowered her head and took out her phone, wanting to discuss the replacement of the draft with Detective Cat.

No matter how troublesome this matter might be.

Such an illustration,

is worth her effort.

It was then that Anna realized the other party had sent a message shortly after sending the draft, which she hadn’t seen yet.

[Love is not about staring at each other, but looking in the same direction—this is the deepest insight I gained while drawing ”The Little Prince”. I understand you are very fond of The Little Prince, so I am sharing it with you.]

”Love is not about staring at each other, but looking in the same direction.”

Anna murmured to herself.

Love?

She understood that the love in this sentence had nothing to do with desire or gender, nor was it the sweet love between lovers, but something much deeper.

It is a higher level of spiritual entanglement, as well as a touching mutual companionship.

Yet, Anna still felt that,

the words Detective Cat Sister, a woman just like her, said to her were far more heartfelt and touching than all the hysterical declarations and analyses of interest she heard from her cousin Ole today.

It was some of the most romantic and moving words she had ever heard.

Anna recalled many years ago,

when her aunt first half-supported, half-hugged her up to the tower in the manor, watching the sunset descend from the horizon, and the starry sky appearing bit by bit against the night curtain.

At that time, neither of them spoke, silently gazing at the sky.

The stars were like pearls adorning a large scarf, slowly unfolding above her head, the magical warmth enveloped her, allowing her to forget the illness, to forget all worries.

In the many years and months since her aunt passed away,

when Anna thought she would never feel the same way again,

she realized she was wrong.

”August...”

Anna gently scratched the soft fur on the back of the neck of the dog whose front paws were resting on the wheelchair, holding the phone close to her heart, tears falling silently.

”I really am a lucky girl, truly.”

August quietly gazed at his mistress with those big hazel eyes.

Then the big dog softly extended its tongue and gently licked away the tears hanging from Anna’s chin.

Tenderly, as if it were her aunt’s hand gently brushing across her cheek.

...

”Ding, ding, ding!”

At the Good Fortune Orphanage,

the foreman of the renovation construction team, working overnight, personally climbed up the ladder to nail the final meter of the picture rail two fist lengths below the ceiling on the wall, finally letting out a long breath.

”I think... it’s not straight enough, is it? Let someone measure it with a laser pen.”

The supervisor, with graying hair, wearing a suit and two dark circles under his eyes, let out a big yawn, persistently offering his professional opinion.

”It’s straight enough, besides, we don’t have a laser pen.”

The foreman muttered a sentence in Burmese, regardless of whether the other heard it or not, and instructed his crew to pack up the room’s belongings, ready to leave.

”Worked all night again yesterday? It’s the third day. Bro, which company’s contractor are you with? Your hair’s all white, and you’re still working so hard. Your big boss must be giving you a bonus not less than 10%, right? But this project isn’t worth much at all!”

A dark-skinned man slipped in, marveling at the originally bare cement floor, now covered with dark wood flooring.

The man was in the construction business,

recently took on the project of modernizing this Old Church, using the agrarian festival period to have his men finish the installation of the old well’s water purification facilities and pipes.

As a result, he was quite enlightened.

The day before yesterday, an uncle brought a huge team and crowded into the site, busying themselves in a small room, going non-stop for three days and two nights.

It completely threw the big man off balance.

Are people working this hard now?

”Moreover... wearing a suit to supervise, is that your company’s policy? Isn’t it hot!” The big man asked, puzzled, trying to figure out the other person’s ways.

Wages in Southeast Asia are low enough.

And now encountering such a hardworking king, the big man thought this industry’s ecosystem was just not too healthy.

”There’s no laser pen, I can have someone fetch one from the hotel.”

The uncle in the suit disregarded the big man who came over to scrutinize his background.

He was examining the construction traces on the wall.

While saying this, the uncle raised his arm to look at his wristwatch, an IWC classic Portuguese series steel watch, and felt that time was indeed sufficient, so he did not press further demands.

Contractor?

The uncle gave the nearby big man a disdainful, charming smile, patting his handmade formal suit stained with gray patches of mud and dust.

Dust cascaded down, revealing two crossed gold keys in a proud manner.

The Aman You’s renovation of the Old Imperial Palace into standalone executive suites is listed at 5 million Myanmar Kyat per day on their official website.

According to Aman Group’s global market pricing, it’s not considered expensive, but in Myanmar, it’s already quite terrifying.

This amount of money roughly equals a month’s salary for an ordinary person in Paris or London, or three to four times the local per capita annual GDP.

Even with USD payment discounts or long-term rental offers, staying for a few months could buy a rather nice ocean-view duplex apartment locally.
