The Quest for Immortality

Mo Hua glanced again at the Little Immortal’s shrine, then turned and left.

Seeing Mo Hua leave, the Little Silver Fish quietly hid inside the shrine, behind the imposing statue of the Little Immortal, contentedly consuming Mo Hua’s incense.

Most deities, once they stray from the path and their Divine Way is destroyed, will immediately perish and disappear.

It’s already a heaven-given fortune that it can leave behind a life.

Not to mention, after leaving behind a life, it can still have a shrine to reside in, consuming incense, and reinforcing its divine position; this is an immense favor.

The Little Silver Fish eats the incense, feeling grateful.

...

Mo Hua no longer delayed, took a horse-drawn carriage, and returned directly to Taixu Gate.

Upon returning to Taixu Gate, Mo Hua sent a letter token to Gu Changhuai:

”Uncle Gu, is Crossing River Dragon still alive?”

After a while, Gu Changhuai replied:

”Alive.”

Mo Hua: ”Actually alive?” .

Gu Changhuai: ”...Are you hoping he’s dead?”

”No, I thought with all those secrets and so much information leaked, he would surely be killed in the Taoist Prison, didn’t expect he has a tough life...” Mo Hua said.

Gu Changhuai: ”I’m watching.”

When it’s time to die, he will die, watching is useless...

Mo Hua whispered in his heart.

But he didn’t say it out loud, otherwise Uncle Gu with his petty mind would surely bear a grudge.

Gu Changhuai was somewhat alert, ”Why did you suddenly ask about Crossing River Dragon?”

Mo Hua pondered for a moment and asked, ”Uncle Gu, do you know about the matter at Hundred Flower Valley?”

Gu Changhuai: ”What matter?”

Mo Hua: ”It’s about a Senior Sister who committed suicide.”

Gu Changhuai sighed deeply.

This kid, could it be he has a keen ear? How can he find out about everything...

Gu Changhuai responded with an ”Hmm”.

Mo Hua was a bit surprised, ”Uncle Gu, you actually know?”

Gu Changhuai emphasized, ”I am the Dao Court Canon.”

”Wasn’t it said to have been marginalized?”

Gu Changhuai paused, then said irritably, ”Even marginalized, it’s still a Supervisor!”

Mo Hua then asked, ”Did you go check at Hundred Flower Valley?”

”No...” Gu Changhuai replied, ”Hundred Flower Valley doesn’t allow men to enter, not even Daoist Court officials.”

Mo Hua: ”Then does Dao Court just leave it alone?”

Gu Changhuai: ”It will be handled.”

Mo Hua was puzzled, ”Isn’t it said men can’t enter?”

Gu Changhuai couldn’t help but say, ”Is it possible that there are female supervisors in the Daoist Court?”

Mo Hua was shocked, ”There are female supervisors? Who?”

Gu Changhuai: ”Transferred from outside, you don’t know her, even if I told you, you wouldn’t know.”

”Oh...” Mo Hua’s eyes lit up, and he asked, ”Why suddenly transfer female supervisors from outside...”

”Stop!” Gu Changhuai said displeased, ”Don’t ask about these things, it’s about Daoist Court personnel transfer, even if you ask, you won’t be told.”

”Alright then...” Mo Hua muttered.

Gu Changhuai said, ”You haven’t said why you suddenly asked about Crossing River Dragon? Is it related to the Hundred Flower Valley matter?”

”Hmm.” Mo Hua said, ”The Senior Sister who committed suicide at Hundred Flower Valley, her surname is Ye, she is from the Ye family in Mistwater City.”

”And a Young Master Ye from the Ye family in Mistwater City was killed last year.”

”The one who killed Young Master Ye was Crossing River Dragon.”

”And I suspect that the killed Young Master Ye and the Senior Sister Ye who committed suicide should be somewhat related.”

Gu Changhuai initially didn’t pay much attention but the more he listened, the more intense his expression became.

He didn’t expect Mo Hua had already investigated the connections so deeply and organized them so clearly.

With this ability, he could easily become a Supervisor at Dao Court...

”So, you want me to interrogate Crossing River Dragon, ask him why he killed Young Master Ye, and at the same time use the Dao Court’s background to investigate this Young Master Ye, and the female disciple with the surname Ye who committed suicide at Hundred Flower Valley, to see what relation they have?”

Mo Hua nodded, praised, ”As expected from Uncle Gu, so smart.”

Gu Changhuai: ”...”

Mo Hua then worried a bit, ”Uncle Gu, you’ve been marginalized, can you still investigate now?”

Gu Changhuai snorted coldly, ”Marginalized doesn’t mean dismissed, just wait, I will inform you when there is news.”

”Hmm hmm.” Mo Hua nodded.

After that, the letter token had no more messages.

Gu Changhuai seemed to be busy.

Mo Hua still had classes, and could only patiently wait for news.

However, outside of class, he had other matters to attend to.

During a trip to Kushan Mountain, after chatting with Lord Yellow Mountain for a while, Mo Hua gained a lot.

Firstly, it was the matter of transforming Divine Thought into a sword; through Lord Yellow Mountain’s description, Mo Hua had some inspiration.

Divine Thought into sword might be able to discard Sword Weapon and Sword Qi, trying to use the eyes to refine Sword Intent.

The eyes are the windows of Divine Sense, allowing the maximum extent of Divine Sense to be externalized.

Perhaps, through training, I can explore techniques to drive Divine Thought into a sword using just a gaze.

When no one was around, Mo Hua tried it.

As expected, all failed.

No matter how he squinted, he couldn’t release sword light from his eyes.

Though it failed, Mo Hua was not discouraged.

Any spell point is not achieved overnight.

The more powerful the sword technique, the more it requires persistent refining over years to reach mastery.

Mo Hua decided to practice every day when he had time.

Maybe one day, he could gather sword light in his eyes.

Another thing Mo Hua particularly cared about was what Lord Yellow Mountain referred to as...”Divine Sense Taoism!”

Mo Hua follows the path of Divine Sense Proving the Dao.

He always thought he was on that path.

But after chatting with Lord Yellow Mountain, he suddenly realized he might have accidentally taken a very strange route.

His Divine Sense Proving the Dao might differ greatly from other Divine Practitioners, and even more from the path his master planned for him.

His Divine Sense Proving the Dao, to be precise, should be called ”Divine Sense Sublimation.”

It’s the path of Divine Sense engaging in deity Taoism, the ”Divine Sense Taoism” route.

Mo Hua couldn’t help but sigh.

Most likely, his master didn’t foresee that as he practiced Heaven Yan Jue, and as the Evil Spirit feasted, he unintentionally veered off to the path of deity.

Mo Hua couldn’t help but worry.

”Without my master, and I’ve learned wrongly, who knows how the future will unfold...”

But upon careful thought, Mo Hua realized that what he learned wrongly wasn’t just one or two things.

With so many lice, they don’t itch; with so much debt, one doesn’t worry.

Having learned the Heaven Yan Jue, he can only forge ahead blindly, worrying is useless.

Mo Hua set his mind at ease, casting all these concerns far away.

Let’s take it step by step.

Tao cultivation is just a matter of walking step by step, steadily moving forward; no one knows where they will reach in the end.

Determined in his Taoist Heart, persisting forward is enough, no need for excessive worry.

Mo Hua nodded.

He then peacefully cultivated, tried in his free time to release Divine Thought into a sword using his eyes.

All the while, he waited for news from Gu Changhuai.

However, after several days, there was still no news from Gu Changhuai.

Mo Hua couldn’t help but frown.

If Uncle Gu can’t find any leads, where should he start himself?

Couldn’t possibly sneak into Hundred Flower Valley for investigation, right?

With this thought, Mo Hua’s mind stirred but he quickly shook his head.

”Probably couldn’t sneak in...”
