The Martial Unity

Chapter 3398: Manipulating The Empire

While Amare grilled Rui on his actions, the dragons continued rampaging, unleashing a destructive onslaught of power across the marketplace, melting everything in sight. If not for the elves and their tenacious defensive barriers, millions would have died in the densely packed city.

CRACK CRACK CRACK!!!

RUMBLE!!!

A dense forest of large trees reaching hundreds of feet in the air emerged as native and genoran elves joined hands alike to create a defensive shield that protected not only themselves but the rest of the city. They grew larger and stronger, absorbing not just the energy of the dragons but also the energy of the bright, morning Sun, growing stronger and stronger with each passing second.

It was a sight that displeased the dragons.

”ROOOAAARRR!!!”

”RAAAWWWRRR!!!”

”KRRRIIIEEEKKK!!!”

RUMBLE!!!!!

The world shook as they unleashed an even greater destructive onslaught of plasma-flames, eroding the very bedrock that harbored them.

RUMBLE!!!!!

The elves gritted their teeth with pained expression as the trees began burning into ashes at an alarming rate. The weaker flora of the Hlakaschken Trade Empire was truly coming to bite them once more. They would have undoubtedly won effortlessly by now, had this battle been happening in Genora.

”Hold, sisters!” one light elf leading the charge roared. ”Show them the power of the Nature Path!”

They held even if it was a losing battle in these circumstances.

For the forces of the Hlakaschken Trade Empire had more than just elves.

They had warriors of all six paths.

”Target locked. Fire.”

BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM!!!!!

A barrage of missiles converged on the dragons at hypersonic speeds, detonating upon impact with catastrophic power, leaving the dragons roaring with pain. The dragons shifted their reptilian eyes in the direction of the forces responsible.

”Annihilate these maddened creatures.” The tekvore leading the charge commanded with a cold expression. ”No one harms the Hlakaschken Trade Empire on our watch.”

It wasn’t just the tekvores, however.

A squad of dwarven mechs, native therianthropes of the Hlakaschken Trade Empire, evosapien battalions, and even giants joined the charge as they worked together to suppress the berserker dragons.

It was overwhelming, of course.

The dwarven mechs and tekvores attacked from a distance while the Hlakaschken therianthropes and giants confronted them in close quarters. The evolutionaries aided the elves in containing the onslaught of destruction that the dragons unleashed upon the world.

”STAND DOWN!” One giant roared. ”STAND DOWN NOW!”

Had they not been under the influence of Rui’s Authority of Alpha, they would likely have resigned.

But Rui’s command was absolute.

They became exactly like the beasts and monsters of the Panama Continent during the Beast Incursion.

Maddened in a frenzied rampage.

Beyond reason.

The forces of the Hlakaschken Trade Empire had no choice but to put them down.

BOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!

With an overwhelming numerical advantage, the battle was over soon.

Heat melted the scales of the dragons.

Blunt force attacks broke their bodies.

Blades and lasers impaled bodies.

Claws and teeth tore them apart.

The once majestic dragons were whittled down until they were reduced to torn and burned pieces of meat.

RUMBLE...

The tumultuous energy flux once the battle was over.

The once-vibrant marketplace was gone, reduced to ashes and then further eviscerated until only a lava landscape was all that was left for hundreds of meters. A radius that would have been many orders of magnitude higher if not for the elves relentlessly absorbing all the energy the dragons unleashed.

RUMBLE...

Massive plumes of smoke erupted from the entire area, visible for hundreds of kilometers away, even as the light from the morning Sun only grew brighter as the Sun headed towards the center of the sky. A thick, choking odor of ash and smoke hung in the air, making the entire area a danger hazard to non-pathwalkers, while the noise of flickering fires and remnant tremors spread through the atmosphere.

”Dammit!” the Imperial Guard forces that killed the dragons gritted their teeth with anger and frustration.

The Hlakaschken Trade Empire was an Empire of peace and harmony, fundamentally.

To see such destruction brought about intentionally within their borders truly boiled their blood.

They were undoubtedly going to launch an extensive investigation to understand exactly what had happened here, even if the people here were certain of what had happened.

”Damn Ryu Clan bastards...” One evolutionary gritted her teeth, clenching her fists. ”Just because they are royalty in Kiriket doesn’t mean that they can come here and do whatever they want! How dare they go on a rampage!”

One therianthrope frowned with confusion as he dismounted his great wolf, gazing at the butchered corpses of the dragons. ”...This doesn’t make sense. The dragons of the Ryu Clan are volatile and unstable, but these dragons continued fighting right to the very death... I’m not defending them, but something seems a bit off here.”

”It just means that the Ryu Clan is unreliable.” The deep voice of a giant boomed in the air. ”We giants also experience urges, but there are many of us who learn to control ourselves to live among civilization. If the Ryu Clan cannot control themselves, then they should be treated the same as my brothers and sisters in Samarkha; as a threat.”

Far away across the city in a little inn, Rui nodded in agreement. ”Yes. Yes. The Ryu Clan is a threat. You should cut them off and suffocate them economically while deepening ties with the Harmonist Faction. Hehehe...”

Amare shook her head, heaving an exasperated sigh. ”Won’t the Empress suspect you since she knows you’re here and you have the Authority of Alpha?”

”There’s nothing she can do since there is no proof,” Rui remarked. ”The bodies are destroyed, and no traces of the Authority of Alpha can be detected within them. On top of that, I made sure to use hypnosis to change my appearance in the eyes of the people watching, so even if she tries investigating, she won’t have any reason to suspect me. With this, the Hlakaschken Trade Empire is less likely to ally itself with our enemies.”
