The Martial Unity

Chapter 3298: The Power of Resonance

RUMBLE!!!!!!

Rui’s eyes widened with shock as he felt a profound shift in nature.

He could feel an ephemeral change in the very constitution of nature around him, sending chills across his skin.

Up until then, his senses and intuition told him that he was facing a large number of flora lifeform opponents. Now, however, he felt he was facing a more singular opponent that possessed power exceeding the sum of the parts.

He felt the minds and bodies of others converging into an overlapping existence.

They were separate still, yet so close that they may as well have been a singular existence.

A tremendous flux of information from mind to mind and a great flush of energy from body to body surged across the entire landscape.

The darkness of the night sky in which he found himself floating seemed to only grow more perilous. Primordial Instinct rang loud alarms in his head, warning him of the power that was coursing through the lands that he found himself in.

RUMBLE!!!!!!!

The world shook violently.

So much so that not even the roots of the forest could absorb all the seismic radiation. The Mothers of Nature rendered themselves as units in a much larger network. They functioned as beacons of information and energy that flowed between each other.

A network of great power.

A network of great intelligence.

It was almost as if they had rendered themselves as brain cells to an emergent brain.

Iota of cognition to an emergent super mind.

A supermind with cognition that far exceeded even Rui’s colossal mind.

It was power beyond power.

’We are not merely trees.’

A whisper emerged in his mind.

’We are a forest.’

The voice of all the Mothers of Nature combined.

’We are beyond your paltry water.’

RUMBLE!!!!!!!

The world shook as violently as a boundless surge of wood, leaves, and roots erupted from the entire region in the blink of an eye.

One moment, he had gained the advantage against his enemies, using Void of Water to partially incapacitate Mother Mara, who led the operation to kill him.

The very next moment, she had shaken off the powerful mental information attack.

He was no longer able to stop her.

’United, we are invincible.’

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

”Rgh...!” Rui gritted his teeth as an endless volley of attacks converged upon him once more, making for extremely intense collisions and explosions.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!!

From all directions, he found himself bombarded with powerful projectiles and intense explosions of such extraordinary brightness that they lit up the night sky across which Rui pushed himself to the very limit, adaptively evolving to.

He deactivated Void of Water immediately, putting aside the now-useless technique as his focus returned to survival.

He activated Neo Godspeed and Nemean Blossom, empowering his evasion and defense as his Martial Mind was pushed to the very limit.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH

He summersaulted through the air, evading a series of leaf blades spinning towards him at high speed, only to find himself running headfirst into a wide-scale tree barrage.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!!

He gritted his teeth, defending himself against the volley of powerful attacks with the help of Body of Water and Flux Earther, rolling off the blow before dashing off through an escape route.

A massive ocean of root bullets emerged from the forest, launched across the entire sky, laced with a potent neuropoison.

FWOOSH!

Rui dispelled the wide attack with a simple sound bullet while his Prophecy of the Void foretold a devastating, wide-scale, explosive attack moments before it happened.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

He balled up at just the right moment, using the explosion as propulsion to push him away rather than to hurt him. The momentum he gained allowed him to charge in the direction of the closest route away from the forest.

And yet, moments later, he had already been surrounded by a gushing ocean of attacks converging on him from all directions.

The Mothers of Nature, resonating with each other, had seen right through his evasion.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

Rui gritted his teeth as he reactivated Soul Retcon for evasion and defense, vastly improving both parameters at the cost of offense.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

The boost in his skill and muscle memory allowed him to produce an almost miraculously effective maneuvering and defense rally, barely escaping what should have been death.

RUMBLE!!!!!!

The sheer amount of energy that the Mothers of Nature were outputting with the offensive weapons systems installed far, far exceeded any peak Sage.

They even greatly exceeded the Transcendent Candidates.

After all, when it came to raw energy, the Martial Sages were constrained by the mass of their bodies for the most part outside of special techniques.

They could only convert so much mass into energy because their bodies had limited amounts of mass, even if they had much denser and heavier bodies than human beings.

But the Mothers of Nature did not have such constraints.

They had mind-boggling amounts of antimatter, nuclear materials, as well as organic, chemical energy that they could summon from across the entire continent to fuel unfathomably astronomical energy levels against them.

In comparison, Rui’s materia prima, impressive as it was, was merely a candle flame to their inferno. The last time he had faced such a large gap in raw power was in the battle with the Eldritch Chimera.

’This is the power of elven civilization.’ The Mothers of Nature whispered to him in unison. ’Behold the power of nature before you perish from existence, wicked demon of death.’

Rui’s eyes flared with power and determination.

”I have no intention of dying today.”

His tone grew saturated with willpower.

”I have no intention of dying before I complete Project Water.”

And yet, words were not enough.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

The Mothers of Nature continued blasting him with countless attacks of extraordinary intensity, making for a highly destructive offensive onslaught that he was barely dealing with through evasion and defense. If not for the combined power of the Prophecy of the Void, Soul Retcon, the gu poison, and the Metabody System, as well as other powerful systems of techniques, he would have been dead by now already.

But he knew that this couldn’t go on any longer.
