The Martial Unity

Chapter 2828: Her

Amare scrambled to feed him some potions, painstakingly ensuring that he consumed every single breath of the vaporized liquid.

Soon enough, his condition stabilized.

His body slowly started mending as the damage that he took against his opponent started fading away.

His charred skin slowly started returning to its original state.

His burned nerves slowly healed as healthier cells replaced the damaged cells bit by bit. The many wounds, cuts, and bruises that he had accrued across his entire body slowly began healing with each passing second.

Amare heaved a sigh of relief as she watched his condition stabilize.

”…So reckless,” she murmured under her breath as she rested his head on her lap, slowly brushing her hand across his face.

When it came to fighting others, she felt that he had completely lost his mind and acted in a manner that was so irrational that it overpowered the rest of the time when he generally acted rationally and logically in regards to non-Martial matters.

It was shocking to see someone who was otherwise very level-headed completely lose his mind when it came to Martial Art and do things that she, and many others, would consider complete madness.

She had a feeling that he was more suited to the Gu than he cared to let on.

She slowly carried him to the Martial chamber, which they had won by virtue of defeating the last person in the Gu. Within it were a wide array of Martial training and growth resources.

And yet, she simply set him in the private quarters in the establishment, tucking him in a simple bed with soft affection. From within her backpack, she pulled a cloth and an alcoholic rub, gently cleaning his body carefully.

The environment of the Gu was filthy, riddled with rot and disease. Fighting and falling in this environment had rendered his body filthy, leaving him vulnerable to infections that could kill even him in this weakened state.

Even as she meticulously cleaned his body, she couldnʼt help but wonder about everything they had been through in less than a day.

The Gu had been the most taxing nation they had ever visited, both mentally and physically. It made every single place that they had visited prior look like a picnic. Even the Solaris Kingdom was downright peachy compared what she had seen in the Gu.

”Nggg…” she winced as she held her head. A flash of pain in her head reminded her of her own issues in this hellscape. She didnʼt know why she had an especially strong reaction to the Gu, than any other place across the entirety of the Panama Continent that they has visited in the past three and a half years.

She instinctively felt that she had reached a special checkpoint in her journey with amount of memories she had unlocked. Each place gave her a trickle, some more than others. Distinct places gave her more than indistinct places.

The Solaris Kingdom, the Nest of Terra, and the Heaven Sect.

These yielded the most memories, allowing her to remember more holistically than other places due to how distinct they were. The Gu was the same.

It was the most distinct place that they had ever visited experientially. Lands that were pitch black with rot.

Skies that denied the entry of the Sun.

There were very distinct memories about this place that lit up in her. And, yet, she recalled Rui telling her that the Gu had been created by the Demon of Asmodeous.

She didnʼt quite understand how it was possible for her to have memories of this place.

”…I will need to meet him to find out.”

And yet, she didnʼt look forward to it.

She didnʼt want to meet the man who was responsible for creating and perpetrating the suffering that they witnessed in the Gu. She wasnʼt sure what she could possibly do or say to such a demon.

Her expression grew pained as she thought back to everything they had seen in less than a single day upon entering the Gu.

There were people who lived this every single day of their lives in this hellish nightmare of a place.

This journey had taught her that while there were people she certainly could help, she simply wasnʼt strong enough to help as many people as she would have liked. Not even Rui was strong enough to help all the people of the Gu.

If he couldnʼt do it, then she was far, far away from the threshold of power needed to help the people she wanted to. She knew what she needed to do.

”I must unseal all my memories.”

The power that lay within them was extraordinary.

”I… must attain Nirvana.”

Her grandmother had been right all along.

If she wanted to lead people to peace and salvation, then she would need to become a Bodhisattva.

Only then did she have the power to accomplish her goal.

”Nggg…”

Her vision grew blurry as she laid down next to Rui on the simple cot.

While not nearly as exhausted as Rui was, she was very tired.

The Gu simply drained her mentally and physically unlike any other place she had ever been to, causing her to finally fall asleep, next to Rui.

And just like that, half a day passed.

They were quite lucky that the Gu rituals didnʼt occur as frequently as they did in the Lower Realms and the outer perimeter of the Gu. Otherwise, both of them would have been thrown out in their sleep and would have died then and there. The first to wake up was Rui.

His eyes opened slowly.

For a moment, he was lost.

He simply gazed at the ceiling with blank eyes.

Then, he remembered.

The battle with that man. And his victory over him. A hint of triumph emerged on his face at the thought of it. His attention returned to his environment, taking stock of the humble living quarters they were in before his attention returned to sleeping Amare beside him with an endearing smile.

”Thank you. Get some rest.”
