The Martial Unity

-o—o-o and Oo—o- shuddered as the voice of Divine Mother O-o-o-o overwhelmed their mind. The click, reverberating through past, present, and future, was intense, but physically and psychologically, rocking them to the core of their being. The Divine Mother made no effort to spare them from the weight of her voice.

This was despite clearly seeing that -o—o-o was injured, writhing in pain where he prostrated. The white pupils of her black alien eyes were filled with apathy for the creatures before her. It was a chilling sensation for the two of them, especially for -o—o-o, who needed to exert the maximal amount of self-control to withstand the Divine Mother’s voice. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK

“O. Divine. Mother. We. Come. Bearing. News. Regarding. The. Recent. Invasion. Of. The. Bipedal. Interstellar. Alien. Civilization,” Oo—o- began with a reverent tone. “We. Have. Observed. And. Fought. Against. The. Alien. Outsiders. Who. Have. Identified. The. Infected. Matter. Within. This. Outpost. World.”

Her tone grew more severe.

“We. Have. Since. Learned. That. They. Come. From. Just. A Civilization. Just. A. Few. Star. Systems. Away,” she explained with a grim tone. “And. That. Their. Civilization. Comprises. More. Than. Ten. Thousand. Stars. Over. A. Hundred. Light. Years.”

Those words caused the Divine Mother to stir as her apathetic dark eyes shift ever so slightly.

The barest of reactions.

Her tone of voice, beyond the trans-temporal resonance, contained just the faintest of a hint of incredulity. Of course, her extraordinary insights into the web of neuron-like cells that composed their brain-like organs and the integrated information therein allowed her to see that they believed what they were seeing and that they were uttering the truth.

The two lesser beings opposite her were too busy withstanding the overwhelming clicks of the Divine Mother to notice her considerations. -o—o-o shuddered with pain while Oo—o- maintained her posture without moving, before responding to the Divine Mother.

“Yes. Divine. Mother.” She affirmed. “They. Have. Managed. To. Conquer. A. Section. Of. The. Cosmos. A. Hundred. Light. Years. In. Radius. In. Just. The. Span. Of. Thirteen. Years.”

This evoked a more pointed reaction from the powerful homoarachnoid. The Divine Mother sharpened her six eyes ever so slightly as she peered into the minds of her lesser kin, trying to gauge whether this was actually true. And it was. Just ten light-years away from this outpost world was a growing interstellar civilization that had grown so fast that they had managed to conquer a massive patch of land before the light from those stars could even cross the stars.

The Divine Mother realized that they were dealing with an unusually prodigious civilization. No ordinary civilization could grow from a single star to such a vast territory in a small amount of time. The fact that they seemed to have expanded like a plague meant that they were dealing with a civilization with high technology, high enough that interstellar operations and logistics. They had undoubtedly mastered the power of stars.

And now they had come to this star system.

To this planet.

And yet, the Divine Mother remained unmoved in her body language.

As if not even news of the remarkably extraordinary alien civilization was worth her attention.

“They. Are. Strong. O. Divine. Mother,” Oo—o- spoke with a grim tone. “They. Appear. To. Be. In. Possession. Of. Infected. Matter. But. They. Do. Not. Appear. To. Derive. There. Power. From. It. And. Yet…”

“They. Have. Wiped. Out. Our. Forces. On. Numerous. Two. Occasions,” she explained patiently. “The. First. Wave. Was. Composed. Of. Our. Weakest. Blessed. Warriors. That. Man. The. Boundary. Of. The. Manifold. But. The. Second. Wave. Was. Led. By. Some. Of. Our. Strongest. Warriors.”

She gestured to the injured -o—o-o who panted with a pained expression.

Her words seemed to finally move the Divine Mother ever so slightly. Her inscrutable expression as her six eyes bore deep into the wounds that -o—o-o had sustained. And yet, it wasn’t enough to keep her attention for more than a moment.

She turned towards Oo—o- in a gesture that sent chills down the female homoarachnoid’s mind.

“W̵h̴a̴t̶.̵ ̷D̴o̶.̵ ̸Y̵o̵u̷.̴ ̶S̵e̴e̵k̶?”

Oo—o- gritted her teeth as she withstood the powerful voice of the Divine Mother.

“We. Seek. Reinforcements. O. Divine. Mother,” Oo—o- replied with a deferential tone. “We. Seek. Warriors. Who. Can. Protect. This. World. From. The. Alien. Outsiders. We. Seek. Forces. That. Can. Help. Us. Best. Them. Lest. They. Take. Over. This. World.”

Of course, Oo—o- knew that it wasn’t that simple. Homoarachnoids weren’t simply an isolated species with endless military capital to be able to redirect to an outpost like the one that they had occupied. Their were greater priorities that consumed the Homoarachnoids that demanded their power, resources, and their strongest warriors.

The Divine Mother’s voice was absolute. The sheer power in the tone of voice of the extraordinary being was unyielding. It didn’t help that each click that she created resonated through time in a message that almost overwhelmed both of the lesser beings that prostrated before her.

And yet, Oo—o- managed to hold on to her composure, even if barely. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK…

“I. Am. Aware. That. Our. Civilization. Is. At. War. With. The. Dessandrites,” she spoke with a grave tone. “I. Am. Aware. That. Even. This. Outpost. Is. Ultimately. To. Produce. More. Infected. Matter. Blessed. Warriors. Ascendant. Homoarachnoids. However…”

She gulped, pushing through with her plea.

“If. We. Do. Not. Do. Anything. We. Will. Be. Swallowed. Up. And. They. Will. Discover. This. Place. They. Will. Discover. Your. Divinity. We. Must. Keep. Them. Out. Now. Before. They. Establish. An. Unshakable. Stronghold.”

The Divine Mother did not appear to be moved by those words. The extraordinary creature did not appear to harbor great regard for the outpost world or the two of her lesser kin before her. Her six eyes sharpened as her attention on them grew heavier.

Instantly, they felt a tremendous surge of pressure mounting on their minds as they felt a hint of the irritation emerging from the Divine Mother.
