The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1636: Show me your way!

A connection between an Alpha and his pack was unbreakable.

It was especially true among the royal bloodline.

Nothing, not even the Undead race that was adept at dealing with souls and necrotic magic, was able to sever the connection, the bond between an Alpha and its pack members. Unity is also one of the powers behind the Werewolf race.

Even separated through realms, the connection was still there.

So, it was concerning when the thread of connection between Rex and the Silverstar Pack was thinning.

But oblivious to Evelyn, who was worried about this problem, Rex was also in another kind of problem.

Rex stood in place, staring at Princess Davina with a blank yet composed gaze.

He looked completely fine outside, stoic even, but inside, it was an absolute mess to behold.

I’m fucked.

Rex swallowed hard, but it was a mistake as Princess Davina caught it with her sharp eyes.

As the daughter of a duke, she was taught to be attentive, to be a genius at socializing.

Such a blatant involuntary reflex that told many things would certainly be picked up by her eyes.

”I’m only asking for you to show me your full potential. Why are you nervous?” Princess Davina asked, raising a brow in question as she genuinely asked Rex to show it, not intending this to be a test. Now, she wasn’t so sure anymore. ”Are you hiding a big secret from me, fiancé?”

Rex clicked his tongue inside.

He found himself increasingly irritated by the way her form of address shifted.

It always happened whenever she had the upper hand and started to feel cheeky.

System, can I access the Werewolf’s form power without actually transforming into it?

Fuck, I know that. I’m only asking! Then what about partially transforming? Will that work?

Like maybe summoning my canines, claws, and slight increase in muscle mass?

As a Royal Black Prince, he has full control over his transformation to the minute detail—and he could essentially pick and choose which part he wanted if he was focused only on the aesthetics. But that does not mean the boost would remain the same.

He knew that already, as he could feel the boost reaching full potential when his form was complete.

But he didn’t know how much the difference was.

Frankly, there was never a need to partially transform.

Damn it, that’s not nearly enough. How about an item? Is there any item that can help me?

Then what is it? Recommend it to me, quick!

Seeing this recommendation, Rex was about to quickly purchase it, but he stopped mid-thought.

He has a lot of gold at this moment, north of tens of millions from all the quests—and killings he did in the Spirit Realm, which, unlike the Mortal Realm, provided him with gold with every kill he made. But it doesn’t mean he should throw some away recklessly like this.

It would be best for him not to use gold unless he absolutely must.

But this seemed urgent.

Rex blinked as he focused on Princess Davina again.

Just then, his brows creased into a frown as he realized that there was no need for that at all.

What am I thinking? Is getting close to the real prize making me act too cautiously?

Rex shook his head and crossed his arms.

”Why should I show my full potential to you?” Rex asked, his voice came out calm and collected, not betraying the worry he was feeling inside. ”I didn’t even know how strong you really are, so are you also willing to show it to me?”

Considering the gap between their strength, Rex made a gambit.

Surely—Princess Davina also has secrets of her own, and he was now betting on the fact that her secret was a lot more important than her curiosity about knowing his full potential. And from how her features changed, Rex knew that he had made the right choice.

”Very well,” She pivoted away. ”We don’t have much time anyway. Let’s go back, I’ll take you there.”

Rex could finally breathe easily as his gambit paid off.

He was about to follow Princess Davina right behind, but stopped when she turned around again.

”Oh, one more thing,” She said, curiosity lacing her tone. ”You seemed surprised that I’d be willing to sacrifice this bubble, no, a bubble, but not that I made the move at all. Why? Why aren’t you shocked that I’m the one behind this particular case?”

Upon hearing this, Rex chuckled humorously.

It seemed that was troubling her.

”You only wanted the Duke’s approval, that’s what you told me,” Rex said nonchalantly. ”And a mission like this would surely put you higher—in his radar. But helping Empress Morgana is not enough, and I thought you must’ve wanted to make this mission harder. And this was the way you chose.”

Princess Davina scoffed, but she couldn’t refute that he was spot on.

She only wanted to make the mission more challenging, so the merit she’d gained is higher.

”I’m getting too predictable,” She sighed. ”For someone like you to see through me.”

Swoosh!

Not even wasting a single more second, Princess Davina flew away.

Rex was about to follow her as she said she was going to lead him to where the army was, but he stopped as he remembered something. Glancing to the side—he saw the people of Xintarin Bubble were looking at him with a mixture of emotions.

For being criminals, most of them were wearing proper clothing.

Some were in full armor that looked expensive, and others were in a lavish dress and suit.

None of the people near the foothill looked anything like them. Maybe there’s a hierarchy at play here.

Rex shrugged his shoulders and approached the people slowly.

Then, he stopped, looking down at them.

”I don’t think I need to tell this, but I’m going to tell you anyway.”

He raised his hand and pressed his index finger against his lips, eyes gleaming with monstrous malice.

”Nothing you see here should ever go out. Let’s keep things between us.” Rex said raspingly, his aura pressed down on the people as if they were nothing, forcing them to bow their heads. ”If I know one of you told others about me, I’m going to come back and annihilate you. If any of you tried to look into me, I’m going to come back and annihilate you. If I heard anyone talking about me, guess what?”

Rex swept his menacing gaze across the people, making sure each one of them understood.

Nobody should talk about his other form.

”Rex? Come on, what are you doing talking to those lowlifes?” Princess Davina called from above.

”Be right there!” Rex answered before fixating on the people again. ”I hope for all of your sakes that this is the last time you ever see me. This will be our little secret. So, take it to your grave... Don’t test me.”

Once he said that, he leaped away, exiting the bubble without giving the people a chance to reply.

By the time Princess Davina and Rex returned to the legions, they were already past the summit.

Now, they were going through the rest of the mountain range.

Most of the disturbances caused by Haxel caused grievous wounds to several dozen soldiers, and mildly wounded a hundred more. All of them were separated from the formation, tending their wounds using the supplies they brought along for a case like this.

Other than that, the formation was still intact, with only a few spots weaker than earlier.

But it shouldn’t be a problem.

An incident like earlier, where the three Special Voidal Knights separated forcefully, shouldn’t normally occur unless the White Mask had strayed too far. But, with the nobles monitoring the distance between them, ensuring to regulate it, this separation was an unusual anomaly.

Others also thought the same, but only Rex knew that it had happened only because of Haxel.

But he couldn’t prove it.

It wouldn’t be good to confront Haxel right now anyway, as the mission takes priority.

So, Haxel would get away with it.

Rex looked in the direction where Haxel should be.

Both of their eyes met through the rowdy Voidal Monsters and soldiers.

A cheeky smile crept to Haxel’s face as he looked forward again, not surprised to see Rex come back with only minor wounds and slightly exhausted. He expected that much. But it was only the beginning, and he knew Rex wouldn’t be able to keep up.

’He looked rough already,’ Haxel sneered inside. ’It should be easier than expected.’

On the other hand, Rex caught Princess Davina’s hand before she could leave.

She looked at Rex and raised her brows questioningly.

”Knight Haxel is a traitor. He’s working against the mission’s goals for some reason.” Rex whispered, deciding that it’d be best to inform Princess Davina about this, too. ”The incident earlier was caused by him using Berserkin Berries. I’m going to stop him, but if things escalated... You know what to do.”

Princess Davina didn’t turn to look at Haxel; she wasn’t that stupid.

She didn’t need to look to know that Haxel was probably stealing glances at them warily.

After all, she could be another piece going against his real aim.

Looking at him right now would only inform him that Rex had told her about him.

Instead, she tucked her hair behind her ear, leaned in, and pressed a soft kiss to Rex’s cheek.

Tchup!

It was a light kiss.

But the moment her soft lips pressed against his cheek, his eyes widened in shock.

Princess Davina lingered for a second too long, putting Rex on the spot.

Some of the soldiers were glancing at them.

Some even whistled.

As they were struggling to keep the voidal monsters in check, even almost failing earlier with several of them almost going to the afterlife, their captain was being doted on—by his soon-to-be wife. Not a normal woman, too, but the woman hailed as the most beautiful of the young generation and also the very pillar of inspiration for women across the empire.

Seeing Princess Davina smile was already a rarity, but to see her acting like this was an impossibility.

And yet, Rex has the opportunity to see her like this every single day.

Lady Luck never took sides, but she did play favorites—and Rex was clearly her spoiled child.

But Princess Davina remained composed and smiled warmly.

She acted as if she had done this before when in truth, this was the first time she showed any affection.

”No need to apologize to me, I’m only glad that you’re fine. You’ve done well. Just ensure you don’t act recklessly... I’d rather not be given reason to worry.”

”Ah... right. I’ll try to be safe.”

Nodding her head, Princess Davina looked in a particular direction behind Rex a bit longer.

She smiled faintly, and then flew away, leaving behind a trail of emerald light.

Almost as soon as she left, Ethan cleared his throat.

”Yes, I’m totally fine, Sir. You don’t need to ask how I’m doing.” He said, clearly pissed.

Rex looked at him with a half-smile, ”What’s wrong? Did you get hurt dealing with those boulders?”

”No, I’m completely fine! But my heart is bleeding right now, Sir!”

”Huh? Did you get stabbed?”

”Sir, are you dense? I’m talking about the princess!” Ethan rubbed his face with his arm, pretending to cry. Then, he held Rex’s hands, putting on puppy eyes, ”Please tell me how you do it, Sir! How did you melt the ice princess’ heart?! Show me your way!”

”If you still have time to play games, I’m going to toss you into the horde.” Rex pulled his arm away.

But Ethan wasn’t having it.

”Don’t you know that acting like love-birds in front of your soldiers is also a blow to our morale? You have to take responsibility, Sir.”

”Shut up and pay attention. We’re not even halfway through the mission.”

Ethan crossed his arms and walked further away, cursing Rex under his breath for not sharing his secret.
