The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1610: Bad Impression

Rex looked at the statue, brows furrowed in shock and confusion.

He wanted to be mistaken, but the features of this statue were incredibly close to those of an Angel.

Feathered wings, grandiose posture, and there was even a small halo.

It was clearly the statue of an Angel.

Am I missing something? I saw Werewolves recently, and now Angels?

He had been living in this realm for almost a month, years if counting the Forsaken Tower, but he had never heard of anyone mentioning this figure, who seemed to be an important figure, considering that this important city created a monument of her, and even worshipped her to an extent.

In the Forsaken Tower, he talked with April about a lot of things.

No—listened.

Rex rarely talked about himself or where he came from, but April talked a lot about herself.

It ranged from her upbringing to the empire’s matters.

But not once had she ever mentioned a figure that was worshipped by the people.

”Maybe it’s only this city?” Rex thought aloud.

”I know the Silent Consort is mesmerizing, but we have to focus here,” Ethan interrupted, smiling wryly as this was not the time for them to be distracted. ”How are you going to handle this? I can be of help, so you can count on me to do anything yo—”

”Silent Consort? Who is that?” Rex intervened, ignoring all Ethan said other than the first few words.

Ethan looked at Rex helplessly.

His shoulders slumped as he couldn’t tell whether Rex was the strict kind of knight or the playful kind.

Earlier, he was strict.

Now, he was goofing around.

”Sir, with all due respect, this is not the time we play games. In a few hours, we’re going into a deadly battle, and our side will be screwed if we don’t unite the legion under us.” Ethan exhaled exasperatedly, not knowing what to do with Rex. ”Please, take this seriously.”

”I’m going to take it seriously, but answer my question first.” Rex turned towards him. ”Who is she?”

Ethan inspected his expression in disbelief.

He wanted to think that Rex was playing around right now, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Rex seemed to be genuinely oblivious to the Silent Consort.

Just then, it clicked on Ethan’s mind.

”You must really come from a faraway place if you don’t know who the Silent Consort is, Sir,” Ethan mumbled in silent surprise; he expected Rex to be commonfolk, but not to this extent. ”Nobody knows for sure what happened back then; the details were already erased by time, but we still have remnants and records of the old stating that she’s the last person who held the Great Flood of Hell, back to give enough time for us to prepare.”

Rex’s eyes flickered.

Since this was a different realm, he also expected a different origin.

In the Mortal Realm, the Radical Era is the start of everything, while the Era of Might was the most known as its effect still rippled until the present day through the hatred that Supernaturals had against Humans, and vice versa.

So, the Great Flood of Hell must be the known incident in the past in the Spirit Realm.

One that started the Black Rift, I assumed.

Rex nodded; this was new news to him, and perhaps an important piece of information.

”Silent Consort?”

”Once again, the interpretations are a bit divided, but most of us believed she was named that because she held the onrush of the Great Flood of Hell in silence. She didn’t ask for recognition, didn’t weep, and didn’t complain. She endured in silence until she couldn’t anymore.”

Ethan looked at the statue with reverence and love.

A look that one would give to a God-like figure; a Demi-God.

”Even now, I believe she’s still protecting us somewhere because there was no record of her remains.”

”I see... And what is she exactly? A Spirit? A Demon Spirit?”

Hearing the question, Ethan chuckled a bit.

He found it funny for Rex to classify her as the same as them, but he wasn’t offended.

Rex wasn’t aware of her, so he didn’t mean to offend anyone.

”She has ten wings and a halo. What else could she be? She’s an Angel!”

Deg!

Having Ethan state it so casually as if it were the most natural thing made Rex’s heart skip a beat.

Of course, the wings and the halo made it obvious what she was, but Rex still clung to the hope that she wasn’t an Angel. Supernatural creatures only existed in the Mortal Realm, that is what he believed, but he was proven wrong at this very moment.

Rex unconsciously reached for his collar, feeling a sudden tightness around his throat.

An Angel stands on equal footing with a Demon, both being incredibly powerful Supernatural creatures, even above creatures like Werewolves—he was the anomaly. Even now, the Angels are asserting their dominance over the Mortal Realm.

It would be a lie if Rex weren’t wary of them, or at least acknowledged them as a powerful force.

He knew full well that the Angels are troublesome since all eyes turned towards them.

So, Angels in the Spirit Realm... that made him swallow hard.

Rex looked up at the statue again, but now, it doesn’t seem celestial and majestic anymore.

It loomed over him like an inevitable shadow, shrouding him in its chilling embrace.

Not to mention, in this realm, at this current moment, the Silent Consort was worshipped by many.

A God-like figure.

Considering that Rex hadn’t met with an actual Angel in this realm with his own two eyes, he could assume that Angels aren’t as common here as they were in the Mortal Realm. If there are only a few or even no Angels left in this realm, this Silent Consort... Some people might even consider her a Goddess.

A bead of cold sweat trickled down the side of Rex’s face.

His mind reeled at possibilities, no matter how unlikely.

And if somehow the Angels here have a connection with the Angels in the Mortal Realm... Shit.

Rex shook his head, not wanting to think about that.

It might become a problem later, but regardless of the truth, it didn’t matter right now—all he needed to do was focus on the task at hand. He still wasn’t sure if he could achieve what he needed to achieve before his spirit form expired, so he had no time to get distracted.

Someone bumped into him from behind.

Rex didn’t budge from his spot at all as he glanced over his shoulder.

A group of three soldiers was standing on the side.

Compared to the normal soldiers, their right pauldron was gold in color, a sign of status of some sort.

Rex glanced at Ethan and found that he had no golden pauldron.

I’ve seen one or two soldiers along the way with a golden pauldron. Must be the captains. Ethan didn’t have that distinctive feature, probably because he wasn’t supposed to be a captain. He’s only a captain because of an added legion for me

It’s obvious from how he seemed smaller in front of these soldiers.

”Hey, you. You’re the new knight everyone was talking about, aren’t you?” The man leading the group finally came to his senses; his voice laced with mockery as he eyed Rex with a smug grin. ”You really think cozying up to the princess and getting handed a title by the Empress makes you a real knight? Do not kid yourself. You’re embarrassing yourself by coming here. Do yourself a favor—run back to your princess’ armpit before you get hurt, little boy.”

Almost instinctively, Rex reached out his hand and grabbed the man by his breastplate.

His intention was clear.

Allowing disrespect would make others think he’s a pushover, so he must impose consequences.

Fear and strength would evoke respect, and that’s what he was going to do.

But he stopped right when he raised his fist to punch this man.

No, I can’t be doing this. I have to always assume the traitor is watching.

Rex’s body eased a bit as he caged his intention to assert his dominance with absolute force.

Just as he thought earlier, coming on too strong would only drive the traitor deeper into hiding away—and worse, reveal the extent of his true strength. For now, it was wiser to appear ordinary, unremarkable, carrying only the bare minimum power expected of a knight.

It must be the Blood Moon. I got worked up easily.

He shook his head a little.

Getting so worked up from a simple mockery made him think of the Blood Moon.

It was easier for him to get angry recently.

And without a doubt, this was the effect of the approaching Blood Moon.

I’m sure Kaiser is preparing something for me. After all, I’ve stolen his power again by attempting to create the Blood Moon Echo; he’s not the type to let that slide. He can’t touch me directly after what he and the other Lunirich Gods did. But maybe he could indirectly mess with me, like amplifying the effect of the Blood Moon on me.

Rex took care of the Lunirich Gods for now, but he didn’t take them out of the picture yet.

At least not when he’s vulnerable like this.

Or maybe I think too much about it. I’m also a Werewolf besides a Human.

Other than that, Rex blamed it on his Werewolf bloodline that made him want to assert dominance.

Frowning, the soldier slapped Rex’s hand away.

”What? Are you going to fight me? A Knight acting high and mighty in front of a regular soldier?”

Rex was about to say something, but someone intervened.

”He’s right.”

A voice reverberated through the air, carrying an authoritative tone that seemed to silence the plaza.

Rex’s brows furrowed as he could already tell that it was another knight.

Here we go again. I knew the moment I saw that invitation—grouped as one of the Knights tasked with subduing the Voidal Monarch’s forces—that the other Knights wouldn’t be happy with me. I even gave them a free reason to mess with me.

Arriving late and now messing with a soldier from another legion.

If the Knight wanted to be unreasonable, he could right now, and nobody would blame him.

A blonde-haired man with imposing stature, who wasn’t any smaller than Rex, and aura approached with steady steps. Beside him were two more soldiers, his trusted guards, who were looking at Rex sharply from behind their helmets.

Seeing this, Ethan’s face paled as he leaned close to whisper.

”He’s Sir Gallick of the Gold Pride Legion, one of the strongest knights here.” He informed.

Rex looked at Gallick and instantly scanned his stats.

...

Status: Angry.

Race: Golden Spirit

Power: Master Immortal Spirit 3 (Third Circle) – Lion Pride

Soul Artifact: Mane of Lion – S-grade (Hybrid)

Echo: Lion Echo, Strength Echo, and Indomitable Echo.

Spiritual Points: 1,000,000

Strength: 2,540,000 (+1.000,000)

Agility: 1,830,000 (+700,000)

Endurance: 2,333,000 (+1,000,000)

...

Hmm... He has three Echoes? What’s a Lion Echo?

Despite being one of the strongest knights to arrive in the city, Gallick wasn’t even close to Rex in terms of stats. What made it more surprising was that Rex was only at Master Immortal Spirit 1 while Gallick had already reached Master Immortal Spirit 3.

Rex was expecting him to be at least on par with him, but it seemed he overestimated the knights.

Or rather, he underestimated himself.

But then again, I have three Soul Artifacts, and two of them already reached Manifestation.

Spending time training in the Forsaken Tower bore fruit as he was abnormally strong for someone who was only at the Master Immortal Spirit rank. Even before the Forsaken Tower, he could already beat the Singing Lady, so even calling him abnormally strong seemed to be an understatement.

Gallick stopped a few steps away from Rex, eyes as fierce as a lion.

”You didn’t even show any respect to us by being late, and now you’re already causing trouble?” His eyes narrowed sharply, a clear intention of causing problems for Rex behind his eyes. ”Sir Rex, aren’t you taking us too lightly?”
