The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 359: Broken

”You fucking Undead, Iʼm going to massacre each one of you”, Rex mumbles with a voice filled with hatred, thereʼs a burning sensation crawling upon his spine wanting to erupt.

Rex is cursing himself in his head while looking at the scene,

Although he didnʼt want to admit it, he really did go soft and forget this kind of thing.

Forget didnʼt seem to be the right words for Rex, trying to forget maybe is the right term since what he sees and felt during the military puts a scar on his mental state.

The scene in front of Rex reminds him of the war against the Supernatural,

Ratmawati is like a safe haven where the people there are shielded from these kinds of views, theyʼre living under the protection of the UWO.

Itʼs natural for people from other cities to dreamt of living in Ratmawati City,

This view that Rex is seeing is what they have to suffer occasionally, cities got destroyed on a whim whether itʼs by Supernatural or Mutated Animals.

Always in constant fear of danger thinking one day the city might crumble.

Rex gritted his teeth as his eyes burned,

In front of him is another open space almost as big as before, but way darker.

There is a huge bridge in front of him connecting two grounds that are separated by a valley, the sound of flowing water gushing can be heard from below.

But the sounds were muffled because of the view across the bridge,

Hundreds if not thousands of rotten corpses of humans are staked by black spears lining up a few feet from each other, the scene spans from left to right leaving no space at all.

It filled Rexʼs vision with staked corpses,

All of the corpses were staked perfectly the same as each other, theyʼre staked on their mouths.

Some of them wear the outfit from all kinds of military divisions, while some are wearing guilds or even FAA outfits and theyʼre certainly the ones that defended Eqosa City.

Out of all of them, there is one cross-shaped black object taller than the others.

Rex saw that there is five heads hung on the cross-shaped black object with a black skull on top of it, he doesnʼt know who they are but just by looking at the corpses alone, they are certainly Awakened.

Itʼs suffocating, to see the Supernatural manage to do this again.

The cold wind brushes the entire place making some of the lighter-staked corpses sway, and Rex saw all of them have a weird symbol on their foreheads.

With a heavy heart, Rex asks the system to translate the symbol with heavy breaths.

Rex grinds his teeth upon reading the systemʼs notification, not only do the Undead cruelly stake each one of them but they also marked them with a despiteful symbol.

While Rex is feasting on the scene, light steps can be heard from the back.

Leo and the woman walk slowly from the back as their eyes widen, the disbelief in their eyes can be seen clearly as they saw the view in front of them.

The woman covers her mouth as tears started to roll down her cheeks,

But Leo on the other hand froze on the spot like a statue while looking at the view, his body then moves on its own and runs across the bridge heading towards the staked corpses.

”Wait!”, Rex called but fall on deaf ears.

Rex grabs the woman who is already starting to cry before he follows Leo,

Leo ran with all his might across the bridge as he looks around with a desperate look, ”Father?”, he called out while turning his head left and right.

He kept on running to the sea of staked corpses searching for his father,

”Father! FATHER!”, Leo called out checking each one of the staked corpses, even though itʼs almost impossible to find his father from this many corpses.

Rex follows Leo who is running left and right,

He felt a pain in his heart looking at Leo who was desperately trying to find his father, even the woman who he carries on his shoulder kept sobbing non-stop.

ʼJust how did this happenʼ, Rex thought as he closes his eyes.

This all happened because the Great Barricade got breached, if itʼs not for that then itʼs impossible for a Supernatural army on this scale to manage to go through.

Stepping near the Great Barricade will just spill their deaths,

One spell from a ninth rank Awakened that guards the Great Barricade will obliterate all of them in one clean swoop, but the Supernatural outwitted the humans.

Making dummy demons that seems powerful, ʼThey even said that Iʼm the one that inspired themʼ

The Vulvazith winged demon said that the plan to make dummy demons came from Rex, they know about when Rex uses the Invincible item against the Shapeshifter before.

ʼItʼs my fault... I didnʼt expect it to be like thisʼ, Rex thought, he feels guilty.

While dwelling in his own thoughts, Rex suddenly saw Leo suddenly stop in front of a staked corpse wearing military clothes.

Just like the other corpses, this man right here is staked through its mouth.

”F-Father...”, Leo mumbles as he creeps toward the staked military man slowly, his entire body is trembling uncontrollably as his eyes gaze upon this corpse.

Hearing this, the woman looks toward Leo before her eyes widen.

The woman started struggling to break free before Rex puts her down, she then looks at the staked corpse and her legs feel weak as she falls to her knees.

ʼOut of all the corpses, they really manage to find their fatherʼ, Rex thought wryly.

From looking at their expression alone, the corpse is certainly their father.

The corpse is wearing a military outfit and is missing one arm, his eyes are still opened as the Undead didnʼt have the courtesy to close them, and thereʼs a black dagger still stabbed into his body.

Leo grabs his fatherʼs leg with his trembling hand as he shakes his head,

Although he already steeled his will knowing that his father has certainly died, seeing it in person still makes his heart crumbles and no one can blame him.

With determination, Leo grabs the black spear trying to pull it out.

Leo wanted to bring his father down from the black spear, but no matter how much he tries to pull the spear he just canʼt make the black spear budge from its spot.

He did it desperately giving it his all, but the black spear still stubbornly stabs the ground.

Looking at this, Rex slowly walks toward him and grabs the black spear.

After putting some strength in his hand, the black spear got pulled out off the ground before Rex gently puts down the black spear in respect for their father.

Rex also gently pulls out the spear off of their fatherʼs mouth,

Leo is already started sobbing while holding onto his fatherʼs corpse, the woman who is kneeling on the side didnʼt even dare to come close unable to see her fatherʼs corpse.

”Why did this happen to us, Why is the world so cruel!”, Leo shouted desperately.

He kept on rambling about how unfair the world is as Rex gives him some time to mourn, he sigh before turning to his back, ʼIʼll check this place to make sure itʼs safeʼ

Dash!

Rex leaves the two to mourn their father, he knows how they are feeling.

Although itʼs been a long time, the time that Rex and Mrs. Greene brings his real parents to be buried still brought a slight pain in his chest, itʼs a hard thing to remember.

ʼItʼs been long, I should visit their gravesʼ, Rex thought with a sigh.

Leaving the two, Rex scans the place around and finds that there is only a couple of low-rank Undead roaming this place as he takes care of all of them.

It didnʼt take long because the Undead is really weak,

RAARGHH!

Rex glances to the side and finds a ghoul is leaping toward him, the muscular build and the bones sticking out of its body puts him in a nostalgic,

Without even caring about the ghoulʼs attack, Rex just received them calmly.

The ghoulʼs attack didnʼt even manage to land a scratch on Rexʼs clothes, it looks at its claw before intending to run away feeling that their power is too far apart.

It didnʼt even look back and started running to flee from Rex.

ʼEven low intelligence Supernatural know when to runʼ, Rex thought.

With a slight dash, Rex appears beside the ghoul before he kicks it right on its ribs crushing its entire body instantly as the ghoul got slammed to the ground.

Rex looks at the dead ghoul as he shakes his head, ʼTo think that I died because of this thingʼ

After clearing the Undead around to make sure the two are safe, Rex then went to the cross-shape black object with the five heads hung on it.

From a closer look, Rex saw that turns out itʼs literally a black cross.

The black cross is as thick as Rexʼs body and six times taller than Rex, it looks like it is made of black steel as it glistens under the golden sunlight.

After inspecting the black cross,

ʼItʼs different?ʼ, Rex thought as he saw the symbol on the hanging heads is different.

The previous symbol is marked with somekind of black ink shaped like a withered leaf but this one is different, not only that itʼs marked with red ink instead, the shape is a devious skull shape with an eye on its forehead.

Rex asks the system to translate this one,

ʼThis symbol is familiar, Sacrifice for the Origin?ʼ, Rex thought with a frown.

But then suddenly he remembers something, ʼIsnʼt this the same symbol as the human corpses during the big war in Dwight City? I remember it!ʼ

Back when Rex is still in the Dwight City war,

Rex saw the corpses brought back to be buried have the same symbol as this, all of them have this symbol on their heads which explains why this symbol seems familiar.

During then, Rex didnʼt think of anything except for humiliation from the Undead.

To think that itʼs a sacrifice they did for the so-called Origin, ”Hmmm, Origin huh...”, Rex mutters before he gets back to the two after cleaning the place for about 15 minutes.

Upon getting back, Rex can see that Leo and the woman are still mourning.

Despite the fact that Rex didnʼt want to bother them in this painful experience, the day is starting to get dark and Rex needs to bring them back to Eqosa City before then.

The Death Energy will be amplified in the night, and the Undead will start to roam.

Many of the Undead are not comfortable walking under the sunlight although it doesnʼt hurt them, itʼs probably due to the fact that theyʼre night creatures so they have such a feeling.

”What father? You think so too?”, Leo suddenly mumbles.

Rex glance at Leo and saw him talking to the corpse, itʼs sad to see a kid his age do something like this, even his sister felt pain in her heart seeing Leo like this.

”I want to be with you father...”

Leo then suddenly widen his eyes before he suddenly said, ”The other side is better? Is it true?”

The woman looks at Leo in confusion despite her tears, she then holds Leoʼs shoulder lightly as she whispers, ”Letʼs bury him, let father rest”

But Leo shrugs his sisterʼs touch and holds onto the corpse,

”You want me to go there too father? Okay! Iʼll go to you”, Leo suddenly said making the woman and Rex frown before suddenly,

STAB!

Leo reaches out for the black dagger stabbed into the corpseʼs chest, he pulled it out and with one swift motion stab himself right in the throat.

Both the woman and Rex widened their eyes as they were caught off guard,

”LEO!!!”, the woman shouted in absolute shock seeing the blood flowing out of Leoʼs neck, it stains her trembling hands in blood as she catches Leoʼs body.

Rex appeared beside them as he instantly buy a healing elixir from the shop.

”Help him! Please, Help him!!”, the woman pleaded to Rex holding onto his arm.

Leo gazes up at the golden color that painted the sky beautifully, a smile crept on his face as he stretches out his arm to the sky, ”Father... Wait for me, Iʼll be there”, he mutters silently.

Without wasting any more seconds, Rex immediately pours the healing elixir into Leoʼs mouth.

”Leo! Leo! Stay with me, donʼt die!”, the woman mutters softly feeling Leoʼs body start to get weak, the tears coming out of her eyes flooded out as she holds onto Leo.

Rex is also cursing himself for not foreseeing this, ʼIʼm fucking dumb!ʼ

ʼNot everyone can cope with something like this easily, How did I not realize this soonerʼ, he thought while helping Leo swallow the healing elixir.

But the system notification makes his body stiff,

The sudden system notification makes Rex looks at Leo with a heavy heart, unknowingly Rex doesnʼt have the gut to raise his gaze to meet Leoʼs sisterʼs eyes.

”Iʼm sorry...”, Rex mutters silently turning his head away.

Hearing this, the woman widened her eyes as the tears kept rolling down her cheeks, ”It canʼt be, youʼre joking right?!”, she asked desperately.

But all Rex can say is an apology, heʼs too late.

Her eyes then slowly gaze at Leo who has already turned pale, the realization makes her body tremble until finally, her tears burst, ”No, no, no! LEO!!”, she shouted while hugging Leoʼs body.

The scream of agony reverberated to the surroundings as she holds Leoʼs body.

It was a broken view with so many corpses around them, ʼThis is just one family, and there are at least a thousand corpses hereʼ, Rex thought with a darkened look.

Never crosses his mind that another Supernatural almost matches his hatred for Werewolves.

ʼThis is unacceptable, just this once Iʼm going to go all out. So help me here Systemʼ, Rex thought as he glance in the direction where the death energy is so thick.

Leoʼs sisterʼs scream seems to attract the Undead,

But Rexʼs attention is pulled back to the woman as she said, ”Hey... this must be a dream right?”, the woman looks at Rex with a broken smile filled with tears.

Seeing the broken look, Rex canʼt help but smile assuringly.

”Itʼs all just a dream, just rest here”, Rex replied softly while hugging her trembling body.

The warmth of Rexʼs body penetrates through the womanʼs body, sheʼs sobbing confusedly before suddenly her eyes turn blurry and the world is spinning after Rex hit the back of her head.

After knocking the woman unconscious, Rex stands up slowly with a darkened expression.

He already feels hundreds of presence on his back that are filled with Death Energy,

Rex glanced at them with a contorted look, the dark red Werewolf aura exploded from Rexʼs body as his eyes glowed with a red hue, ”Itʼs good youʼre all gathered here”, he mutters.

BOOM!!

A powerful blast of energy blasted from Rexʼs body as Devo materializes behind him.

”None of you will survive”, Rex added with a fierce glare as his body started making a cracking sound turning him into a monster.
