The Great Thief

However, even though they knew something was up with this person, Lu Li still had to follow the agreed upon procedures and prizes.

Although this was a private competition, the System still tracked it to make sure it was fair. As soon as something judged to be unfair was detected, apart from rectifying it, the System would also strip the club’s rights to hold competitions for a while.

After the competition results came out, they shamelessly copied Glory Capital’s tongue-in-cheek awards ceremony.

Glory Capital’s authorized ceremony was an event that attracted the attention of a lot of people. Whenever someone from Glory Capital received an important honor in a major competition, or a reserve competitor leveled up in the Green training camp, they would hold such an award ceremony.

Glory Capital’s Glory Cup was much larger than Lu Li’s competition.

However, no matter how much something was altered, the essence was still there. This sort of club-organized competition was very much goal-led. They had spent a considerable amount on prizes, and the ultimate aim was to network with people of talent.

In these two weeks before the level 70s were opened up, the Glory Cup officially opened for registration.

The rules were a little more relaxed compared to Ruling Sword’s competition. As long as someone wasn’t an official competitor, they could participate. If they were found to be of potential, even if they were part of another club, as long as they hadn’t signed a contract to be a competitor, Glory Capital could simply pull them over.

From Ruling Sword, players like Crippled Black Ant, the minstrel Big Dog Li, Her Tears and so on all joined the competition. They weren’t proper competitors. They just had to pay 10 gold and they could participate. By comparison, the top prize was 30 million dollars, so anyone was willing to risk 10 gold.

Of course, Her Tears didn’t lack money. He was just upset that the top prize of the Ruling Cup had been taken by an outsider, so now, he wanted Ruling Sword to get a sense of what that felt like. The people who had gone to participate from Ruling Sword had basically all been pushed by Her Tears.

Glory Capital’s top prize was 30 million dollars and three pieces of Epic equipment.

That was a real show of strength. Lu Li could barely part with one million. After all, he had to reward 300 people, so when it was all added up, it was no small amount.

Glory Capital was rewarding the top 1000 people. Even the lowest level award winner still received ten thousand dollars.

Regardless of the amount of prize money or the way awards were presented, Ruling Sword was still miles away from Glory Capital. Lu Li really had a mind to plagiarize the Glory Cup.

In any case, he had reached his goal.

With these players newly added to the team, as well as those from his own, Lu Li was easily able to put together three Core Elite teams – although the strength of these teams wasn’t that reliable.

He also considered taking a registration fee of 10 gold. Seeing tens of thousands of people register for the Glory Cup and the amount of income made his mouth water. Fortunately, he had a fair degree of self-awareness and knew that there was no point for Ruling Sword to do that since they didn’t have any publicity or history.

If they really were going to take 10 gold in a registration fee, they probably wouldn’t even get 1000 signups.

Actually, Sorrowless didn’t care about this little amount of money either. Their competition area was all rented from the System, which was in stark contrast to Lu Li’s budget option of the Arena.

However, the pace of their competition was extremely fast as well. Within a week of registration, it was all over.

After all, the level 70s were going to be opened up soon, and everyone was preparing to train.

Glory Capital’s awards ceremony was very grand – they even had a celebrity who came to perform. There were also some businesspeople and investors who reluctantly showed up, hoping they could expand their business with Glory Capital.

Lu Li also toughened up and came.

He used to be part of a lower class of people, but now he already had the money to enter into the highest echelons of gaming society. He would recognize others, and others were watching him too.

The results of the competition had already been released, so there were no surprises that people were looking forward to like in typical award ceremonies.

It was at the very last minute that Sorrowless went up to award the top few players their prizes.

“Hehe.”

Crippled Black Ant was a little bit embarrassed. He had taken seventh place along with a share in the prize money and a piece of Epic equipment.

“Keep it up – you’ve got great potential.”

Sorrowless maintained his pleasant, warm, glowing smile on his face as before.

“Hehe.”

Bearded Zaza was also feeling quite awkward. He originally didn’t want to participate in this competition, but Her Tears forced him to come, and Remnant Dream and Hachi Chan provoked him too. Remnant Dream even gave him a few Exquisite pieces of equipment for him to wear.

“You’re…very good as well.”

Sorrowless glanced over at White Westhill following next to him. He had been busy with some other things before, and did not even read through the list of winners. If he remembered correctly, this person was also in the Ruling Sword First Clear team too.

White Westhill twitched her mouth, not knowing what to say.

“Hehe.”

This laugh was a little exaggerated. Of course, Sorrowless knew who it was.

Her Tears!

This idiot had fought against Glory Capital many times.

Everyone in the gaming circle now knew that he was a die-hard Ruling Sword member and couldn’t be roped in by anyone else.

How did this idiot take 5th place? Wasn’t it said that his PvP skills were only average? Sorrowless was really suspecting that all the top players in the gaming circle had died out.

Actually, he had completely misunderstood.

The Glory Cup and the Ruling Cup differed in that those who participated in the Glory Cup didn’t include those who were from within Glory Capital. Although they weren’t banned, since they wanted to network with other top competitors, their own people tended not to take up space for signups.

Internally, Glory Capital had an extremely well-organized mechanism of training, so they didn’t have to join in the Glory Cup to prove themselves.

What Her Tears held in his hands was Mu Qiu’s Greatsword of the Brotherhood.

He had basically stripped off everything from Mu Qiu.

By relying on equipment that would even make a top competitor’s mouth water, he battled his way up to get 5th place.

“Hehe…”

As soon as they heard this laugh, Sorrowless felt goosebumps up his arm. This laughing, cunning Mage in front of him couldn’t be Ruling Sword’s as well, right?

He was correct. It was a shame there was no prize for guessing so.

The minstrel Big Dog Li couldn’t wait to get his hands on the prize. He received it from Sorrowless’ hands – he had taken third place.

Five million dollars and two pieces of Epic equipment – he had never seen so much money before. How many girls could this buy him…
