The Golem Mage

Chapter 1036: Concluding Things 2.

With the City Lord as the center, a two-hundred-meter domain unfolded, the surroundings transformed into the image of a dense forest, overflowing with plant life and ancient vitality.

Behind him, a gigantic tree manifested, its roots digging deep into each other in midair as if anchoring reality itself. But that wasn’t all. A plant dragon also took form behind him, coiling around the massive trunk as though it had always belonged there.

When the City Lord said he was going to give it his all, he truly meant it.

In high-rank battles, mages usually fought using only their own combat prowess and elemental control, rarely did they summon their mental images to fight along with them, that was because manifesting one’s mental image was equivalent to exposing one’s soul power directly to battle.

And matters involving the soul were extremely dangerous, unlike physical injuries, damage to the soul did not only affect one’s current strength but also crippled future potential.

Mental strength would be permanently limited, and recovery was painfully slow, if possible at all, terran was a living example of that danger, he was still struggling to recover from the soul injury he had suffered when he fought against multiple Tier 8 Orc Lords who had tried to hunt him down after he slaughtered so many of their Tier 7 kin.

Because of how catastrophic soul injuries could be, most high-rank mages avoided summoning their mental images at all costs, yet now, the City Lord had clearly thrown all caution to the wind.

Things had gone far beyond what he expected, with the battlefield turning increasingly hopeless, he knew one thing for certain: if he did not change his approach, he would die here.

So he opened his domain first, which would allow him to cast spells faster and with far greater fluidity.

All this time, George Gordons had forced him into close combat, and despite coming from a battle-path clan that specialized in dragon bloodlines, the City Lord had quickly realized the difference between him and George.

He could not win in close quarters, so he was trying to shift to spellcasting, and this time, he had absolutely no intention of underestimating his opponent again.

Casting the Worldroot Descent was meant to accelerate the growth of every plant within the domain, because the stronger the plants under his domain became, the stronger his spells would be, his power rose in direct proportion to the vitality of the forest around him.

The manifestation of the Green Dragon spirit was just to push that power even further, amplifying his abilities beyond their natural limits.

Seeing this, Titan and Legion both turned their attention away, as they knew there was no way the Gordons Patriarch would tolerate any interference in his personal battle with the City Lord.

It was clear to all of them that George Gordons carried a deep, burning grudge against the city lord, and since he showed no signs of losing, they did not worry about him.

That left only one remaining Tier 8 opponent, the one being faced by Midnight and Oni, so they shifted their focus there, but they were already too late.

Midnight had forced the Dark Guild mage onto the defensive with that bite injury, and Oni had closed in with terrifying speed to capitalize on it.

Oni swung his scythe first, not with the blade, but with its inner curve, as the weapon hooked behind the mage’s right leg and he yanked backward, dragging the mage off balance.

In midair, that alone wouldn’t have been decisive, but Oni had been able to pull the mage close, forcing his upper body down to his waist level, as two extra arms erupted from his sides.

In each palm formed a small sphere of compressed darkness.

Oni slammed both shadowed hands into the side of the mage’s face, and the dark spheres vanished on impact, sinking into his flesh like they had been absorbed through his ears.

The Tier 8 mage had staggered and was disoriented during his clash against Oni all because of how his right side burned with pain from the bite, and his balance was completely shattered.

For the whole moment that Oni did what he did, the Tier 8 mage couldn’t even understand what had just happened.

In desperation, he pulled out a small dagger and tried to stab at Oni’s mask, but another arm snapped forward and caught his wrist.

At the same time, a different hand struck his chest with a brutal palm strike, sending him flying backward through the air until he finally managed to halt his momentum.

He paused, staring ahead in disbelief, as he couldn’t understand where all those hands had come from, but when he looked at Oni again, he finally realized the truth.

There were six arms attached to him, the first two pairs, the main ones, were holding the scythe. Beneath them, the other two pairs moved in perfect synchronization, forming hand signs before pushing forward into the air.

“Explode,” Oni said calmly.

Out of nowhere, the Tier 8 mage’s head began to deform, as black specks erupted across his face, spreading rapidly like a living infection, as his expression twisted in horror before his skull finally burst apart, accompanied by a shrill, agonized scream.

His body went limp in midair.

While all this was happening, two Tier 7 mages were still charging straight toward Alec, they clearly couldn’t hide the anger burning in their eyes.

All because they felt before Alec had appeared, the battlefield had been under their control, now everything had collapsed into chaos because of him, what infuriated them the most was not just the golems he commanded, but his attitude.

Alec didn’t act like he feared them at all, even when they were so close to him, on the contrary, he looked like he was welcoming them to come at him.

Alistair arrived first, as he swung his right claw in a horizontal arc straight toward Alec’s neck, aiming to tear his throat out in one savage strike.

However; Alec calmly raised his changdao from the scabbard at his left waist, he didn’t even bother to draw the blade fully.

That single motion had been enough to block the attack, without sparing Alistair another glance, Alec shifted his attention to the other side.

Where the second Dragonmir clansman, also a Tier 7 mage, had already reached him, already slashing his blade toward Alec’s neck from the right, attacking at the same deadly angle.
