The Golem Mage

The sound of bodies dropping could be heard in the temple, from all the directions the directions that Titan retaliated at by returning ice shards, as Alec lightly clapped his hands twice.

”I see, so your heavenly punishment just happens to be a sneak attack as well!” Alec said, gazing calmly at the Priest.

As the murmurs of the villagers began to fill the room as they all realized what had just transpired, However, the Priest, in an attempt to preserve his reputation, quickly devised a new plan.

”Resident of this great city, do not be deceived. This man here is a demon,” the Priest announced, pointing accusingly at Alec, who couldn’t help but smirk as he folded his hands.

Eager to see the spectacle the Priest was about to orchestrate in order to escape his own predicament, as the villagers eagerly listened to his words.

”Ever since he and his demonic group entered our city, a murderous aura has enveloped a part of our prosperous city, that is why I have sought to eliminate him for you all, If he is not a demon, then why does he associate with beings that are not human?”

The Priest’s words fueled the villagers’ anger, causing them to turn on Alec and hurl accusations at him, labeling him a demon and other derogatory names.

Alec’s eyebrow raised slightly in irritation at their ignorance, and switch of behaviour so fast.

Despite the oppressive air that affected all who entered the town, the Priest had noticed that Alec remained unaffected.

He knew that only the Evil Sect possessed the antidote for the infectious air, and they were profiting off the suffering of the city’s inhabitants.

The only way to bypass the infection was for a mage to be in the Middle ranks and practice good bodybuilding techniques.

However, upon observing Alec’s youthful appearance, the Priest was sure that Alec had not yet reached the mid rank.

He believed that Alec was merely feigning confidence because of the golems by his side, taking advantage of the ignorance of the residents regarding the nature of golems.

He knew the residents would be easily swayed by his words, as he had been in the city longer and had brainwash most of them.

The Priest knew he could not confront Alec directly, as he was only a Tier 2 Mage from the Evil Sect.

He had secured his position as a priest through his connections, particularly his influential uncle who was a Bishop.

And after witnessing his Tier 3 guards being swiftly defeated by Titan, the Priest realized he could not defeat the golem standing next to Alec, so he decided to take a different approach.

”What are you all waiting for?, Are you going to stand by and watch as this demon slaughters the rest of the town?, Quickly attack him now and immobilize him!” the Priest commanded the residents inside the temple, urging them to use their powers to eliminate Alec and his Golems.

Unable to match Alec’s power, the Priest resorted to using sheer numbers to try to eliminate him.

Alec was taken aback by the sudden turn of events, but he was also prepared to defend himself against a mob attack, If things went sideways.

He placed his left hand on the hilt of the Blood Changdao peeking through his cloak, giving him the appearance of a mysterious hermit with the addition of a bamboo hat.

However, as Alec attempted to draw his blade, the city lord saw this and approached him, gently guiding the blade back into its scabbard by placing a firm hand on Alec’s.

Initially poised to react aggressively, Alec reconsidered upon locking eyes with the city lord, sensing no malicious intent emanating from him.

With his sharpened perception of killing intent, Alec had honed his ability to detect harmful intentions directed towards him, because every malicious intent release killing intent and Alec would never miss it.

”I will take charge of this situation, please proceed with your meeting, our city does not mistreat its visitors, I will accompany him to avoid any confrontations,”

The city lord informed the residents, ushering Alec along with him, the onlookers could only watch as their Tier 3 city lord escorted Alec out of the temple to his residence.

The Priest watched as Alec was dragged away, giving him death stares.

’This boy has quite a few strong helpers, I better ask for Uncle’s help,’ he thought to himself.

As Titan and the System Spirit golem followed closely behind, the Priest’s eyes were indirectly drawn to Alec’s Changdao, gleaming with greed.

Previously, he had wanted to get rid of Alec because of the prestige of the Evil Sect, but now, he had an additional reason - Alec’s treasures.

Alec was forcefully led into the courtyard of the city lord, his captor releasing his grip on Alec’s hands as they finally entered.

As the city lord paced around, he was lost in thought, while Alec couldn’t quite explain why he had allowed himself to be dragged here.

He just felt there was a sense of trustworthiness about the city lord that it had quelled his wild nature, even dissuading his initial intentions of beheading the Priest.

”Who are you, and why have you come here? From your posture, I am sure you must be a young master of some city, but it’s not wise to go against the Evil Sect, because you would die,” the city lord spoke, concern evident in his voice as he gazed at Alec.

”I thought you knew who I am and that’s why you dragged me out of there, did you not receive any message that I would be coming?”

” My letter clearly stated that I was supposed to report to your house in the first place, but I wanted to explore first and that’s what led to the incident back there,” Alec explained as he locked eyes with the city lord.

”Message?, There has not been any communication entering or leaving this city in the past year, Almost all the residents have been brainwashed by the fake acts of the Evil Sect, that’s why I brought you out from there, for your own good. as It wouldn’t be wise to fight them when this city has become their stronghold,” the city lord revealed.

”I see now, They have blocked all communication in and out of this city, allowing them to brainwash the majority of the residents, without troubles. This is a serious situation. But I find it hard to believe that the little Priest could have orchestrated all of this,” Alec pondered, a nervous energy coursing through him as he instinctively touched his jaw.

”Of course, he is too little to run things, there is another who oversees the operations of all the Tier 5 cities,,” the city lord explained.

”Oh, well, I am from the War God Mage Academy, sent to deal with the Evil Sect activities here,” Alec responded, causing the city lord to scrutinize him from head to toe once more.

”I had sent a distress message over a year ago, hoping for a team of young mages or at least an low tier instructor would be sent by the War God Mage Academy to assist us with our problems, Why does it appear that they sent you to face death?” the city lord inquired, a perplexed expression on his face.

At that moment, the System Spirit golem let out a menacing laugh directed at Alec.

”I am the one appointed by the academy for this mission, so you should trust that I can help,” Alec asserted, revealing his student badge bearing the commander rank, which brought a glimmer of hope to the city lord’s eyes.

Recognizing the significance of a War God Mage Academy commander rank, equivalent to Tier 4 mages, the city lord, a Tier 3 mage himself, was shocked to discover that Alec, whom he had underestimated, was in fact stronger than him.

”That’s good! So, where is the rest of your squad?” the city lord inquired.

”The rest of my squad? I am the squad. I am all your city will receive,” Alec replied confidently, a smirk playing on his lips.

As The city lord’s expression shifted from anticipation to disbelief as he realized that Alec was the sole representative of the War God Mage Academy for this mission.

The City Lord, shocked and disbelieving, had anticipated Alec to have a team of Tier 3 mages hiding somewhere at his disposal, ready to heed his command.

However, the revelation that Alec was undertaking the mission alone left him utterly flabbergasted, feeling as though his city had been cursed by some divine God, for giving them someone as Alec.

City lord :”¬”

Meanwhile, the System Spirit golem continued to cackle gleefully, observing the City Lord’s bewildered expression.
