THE GOD EATER

As he warned the man, he threw a small bag of energy stones to the man. The man took it and began to count.

As he counted the money, he said to Loki, “I trust that you won’t try to cheat little old me. But you might have made a mistake when you were counting the amount. After all, no one is perfect.”

In response, Loki snorted in disdain. He felt disrespected, so he would try to cheat someone out of 1,000 energy stones when he was capable of cheating people out of millions, but he didn’t say anything. He waited patiently for the man to finish counting.

After a while, the man finished counting. He closed the small bag and hung it with a rope on his belt as he said with a smile, “It is all there.”

But Loki was not in the mood for smiles. He growled at the man and said, “Now, spill your guts or I might do it for you.”

His threat made the man clear his throat hurriedly with a cough and say, “According to legend, the Blessed Heaven World is split into two. There is the Earth that we know and the heavens above us.”

As he spoke, he pointed up to the sky and said, “Anyone can go to heaven. They just need to be able to fly there. This requirement means only rank 4 cultivators can go to heaven without help.”

Loki looked up at the sky and struggled not to widen his eyes and say, “You’re telling me that there is something above the skies?”

Meanwhile, the man continued to say, “The Heavenly Battlefield is the domain of struggle for small worlds. I don’t know exactly how the sects fight for small worlds, but I know that when the fighting for a small world is over, the small world will descend to the earth in the direction of the world barrier. This is where the Earthly Battlefield will be set.”

“We are going to the world barrier in the north. This means that we are going to fight the Martial Body Sect for control of the small world. From what I know, what we are fighting for is for the small world to remain open while the Martial Body Sect is fighting to close it.”

This time, Loki couldn’t help but say, “But what is the importance of the small world? Why are we fighting at all?”

Hearing this, the man grinned and rubbed his hands together. He wanted to ask for money.

He wanted to say, “That’s not part of what you paid me for. But I can tell you if you pay me another 1,000 energy stones.”

But he saw Loki glare at him, so he didn’t say what he wanted to say and instead quickly answered the question.

He said, “I am not sure about this, but I heard that the sects are fighting for souls.”

“I have heard that each of the five domains of the Blessed Heaven World is separated by the world barrier and behaves like a different world. So anyone in the central domain who dies can only reincarnate in this world.”

“This means that in a normal situation, no matter the amount of death that occurs in a domain, the number of living beings in the central domain cannot be reduced. However, the small world puts a stop to that.”

At this point, he coughed to clear his throat. Then he resumed what he was saying.

“The small world opens a gap in the world barrier from which souls can pass through. In this case, it seems the Four Directions Sect won the fight for control of the small world in the heavens. So the small world opened a gap in the world barrier in the direction of the Northern Domain.”

“This gap will funnel souls out of the Northern Domain into the Central Domain. This is why the Martial Sect, which controls the whole of the Northern Domain, wants to close the gap. It is also why we want to keep it open.”

When Loki heard this, his eyes lit up in understanding, and he said to himself, “So the five sects are fighting for manpower. It is clear that the sect that manages to hoard most of the souls of the Blessed Heaven World will become the strongest sect.”

“Just look at the Four Directions and the way they fleece everyone and use them as their work mules. If they can increase the number of souls in the reincarnation cycle that they control, they will have more people to fleece. How evil.”

The man had been keeping quiet for a while now. He was waiting for Loki’s evaluation of his explanation, and he was doing so nervously. After all, if Loki determines that he has lied, there would be a lot of trouble for him.

On the other hand, Loki didn’t have the right to judge whether what he said was the truth or not. After all, he hadn’t asked anyone else about this. So this was the first time he would be hearing about this.

However, he couldn’t expose the fact that he lied, so he nodded to the man and said, “Good job. Now get out of here.”

The man sighed in relief and ran away from his presence immediately. This left Loki with his thoughts.

He looked around at the workers and said, “Time for confirmation.”

Then he approached another person to ask them about the difference between the Heavenly Battlefield and the Earthly Battlefield in order to confirm if what he just learned was the truth or not.

While he was doing this, Jane was chatting up with another man. The man she was chatting with appeared to be an Enslavement Master because he had a Beast Bag Metac hanging at his waist, and Loki saw that his Core Metac was the Enslavement Seed.

This time, it seems the two of them were getting along nicely. Loki couldn’t hear what they were saying, but he saw that Jane was always chuckling or laughing.
