THE GOD EATER

The thought of Muni made him say to himself, “That guy is truly ambitious. I thought he was all talk before when he was encouraging Craig to fight for the things he wanted, but it turns out that he has some bite to him.”

After amusing himself for a while with Muni’s situation, he continued to chat with the shopkeeper. The two of them chatted for a while longer. They didn’t stop discussing until Loki had acquired everything he wanted.

The rank 3 Cloudy Date Metacs cost 30,000 energy stones each. He bought 12 of them for his four energy chambers, which came to the cost of 360,000 energy stones. A 5% discount brought it down to 342,000 energy stones.

That kind of purchase is expensive and can be avoided by spending some time and energy to cultivate. But considering the dangerous situation he was in and the people he was up against, he decided to splurge.

Besides that, it wasn’t his money that he was spending. So he didn’t feel any heartache about spending the money.

As for the rank 4 Metacs, they cost between 20,000 and 100,000 energy stones. Branch Metacs, like Liquid Metal Metacs, which are used as weapons, cost 20,000 energy stones, while those like Body Lever, which increase the power of the body, cost 50,000 energy stones, and Metacs like the rank 4 Titanium Body Metac used for refining the body, cost the highest at 80,000.

Their value varied because of energy cost and usefulness. Out of everything, Branch Metacs that can improve the strength of the body, the soul, and the mind permanently cost the most, with the last two costing 100,000 energy stones.

When he was done buying everything that he needed, he had spent over 1 million energy stones. Then he spent another 1 million energy stones buying materials to increase the strength of the Shifting Armor Life Ability.

The materials he bought were various metals that he planned to feed to the Shifting Armor Ability. He would have preferred to feed it Living Metal as it would be easy to digest, but it would take time to order it and get it. He can’t wait for one week, so he decided to make do with what is readily available.

He could keep all the Metacs that he purchased in his energy well, but there was no place within his body to keep the various metals for raising the strength of his body and for feeding his Life Ability.

He is strong, but he isn’t strong enough to carry the tonnes of materials. So he had to hire a wagon to help him carry everything to his place.

All of these drew unwanted attention to himself. Many people began watching him because of this. Some of them were curious about him, but most of them only had greed in their eyes as they gazed at him.

When the people watching saw that it was a rank 2 person who was buying rank 4 Metacs and spending enough to make a rank 4 Cultivator turn their heads, they thought that he was either an errand boy for someone powerful or that he was powerful himself but was hiding his strength.

Either way, they refused to dip their toes into this troubled water, so they left him alone. This allowed Loki to return home with his things in peace. Unfortunately for him, the repercussions of his shopping spree weren’t going to end there.

News of his outing got to the two parties that had been keeping close watch on him. But unlike the vagrants that he encountered in the market, these people were not afraid of him or his background at all.

At the headquarters of the Viking Blade Society, Skarg had just been informed about Loki’s shopping spree. Serge was the one who informed him. Serge and Simon are now standing together waiting for Skarg’s order.

Skarg was frowning as he contemplated what he just heard. When he thought about it for a while and came to a conclusion that he didn’t want to believe, he asked them, saying, “He is supposed to be rank 2, but he went out to buy rank 4 Metacs and rank 3 Cloudy Dates. Now, why would he do something like that?”

Serge replied, “Unless he is buying it for someone else, those things have to be for him. I don’t know why he is buying rank 4 Metacs, but his buying rank 3 Cloudy Dates for himself can only mean that he has advanced to rank 3.”

But Simon shook his head and said, “His cultivation level appears to be rank 2. If you’re right that he is at rank 3, that will mean that not only is he hiding his cultivator, but also that his cultivation speed is abnormal.”

“The only person I can think of who can advance to rank 3 in 14 months since they awakened is a reincarnator. So are you saying that Loki is the reincarnation of some rank 5 cultivator?”

As Simon asked that question, his eyes widened in disbelief. Even he himself couldn’t believe that he was asking that question. He couldn’t believe that they had reached a point where they were considering whether their slave was the reincarnation of a rank 5 cultivator.

As absurd as it sounded, Skarg nodded in satisfaction and said with a tone of appreciation, “Good analysis, both of you. You have come to the same conclusion as I did. It is unlikely, but it is possible that this slave boy is actually a reincarnation. This can be called the worst-case scenario, and why a slave master should never let their slave escape.”

Simon still couldn’t believe it. He said, “But. But. But. That’s crazy. It is absurd.”

He had a lot to say, but he couldn’t put his words together to express exactly what he had in mind to say because of how shocked he was.
