The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 408: Chapter 363: Purge

”You’ve got some skills, kid. You just joined the Town Martial Department and already wrangled yourself the title of Lord General. You’ve got a much brighter future than I do.

Have you taken care of things at school?”

Chu Zhengxiong, a cigarette dangling from his lips, looked at Lin Yi beside him with a faint smile.

There was no jealousy or envy in his eyes.

More than anything, there was a sense of relief and pride.

He had, in a way, watched Lin Yi grow up.

He remembered back when they were in the Old District.

The scene of their first meeting, and how just a few words of advice had allowed Lin Yi to turn the tables and kill a demon beast.

Then later, Lin Yi’s cultivation realm had advanced by leaps and bounds.

From a quiet and reserved student, he became the district’s Martial Arts Examination Champion Scholar.

After coming to the New District, in just one year...

...he had already broken through to the Divine Abyss Realm.

And now, he was even the Lord General of the Town Martial Department, commanding the Left and Right Guards.

With accomplishments like these, no one could truly surpass him.

Lin Yi smiled and nodded. ”I asked Director Qiao for a leave of absence, and he approved it.”

”But I didn’t tell the school I was joining the Town Martial Department.”

”Huh? Why not? It’s not something to be ashamed of. You have to know, so many people want to join the Town Martial Department, but very few actually pass the tests!”

”Back in the day, I wanted to join the Town Martial Department too, but I got stuck on the morality assessment...”

Chu Zhengxiong said, reminiscing about the past.

Lin Yi shot him a surprised glance. ”Brother Chu, are you saying you have no morals?”

”Bullshit! What’s the use of morals? Can you spend them like money? Can you eat them?”

”Especially in the Old District. You try to talk morals with someone, and they’ll try to take your life!”

”You’re from the Old District yourself. You don’t know what it’s like there?”

After speaking, Chu Zhengxiong took another long drag from his cigarette.

Lin Yi nodded but didn’t say anything.

Suddenly, it dawned on him. ”Brother Chu, you’re from the Old District too?”

”Nonsense. Who here isn’t from the Old District?

Don’t think that just because those students at your school act all high and mighty!”

”Weren’t their parents and grandparents from the Old District too?”

”They’ve had a few good days, and they’ve already forgotten where they fucking came from!”

”I can’t stand people like that. Who the hell do they think they are!”

Chu Zhengxiong curled his lip in disdain.

Despite being in his late thirties, almost forty...

...he was still like an angry youth, unable to stand those pretentious students who claimed to be ’locals’.

Lin Yi couldn’t help but smile and nod.

Just then, Wei Nan approached with several men from the Left Guard.

”Lord General Lin, Captain Chu, the investigation is complete!”

”This warehouse is the processing plant!”

Wei Nan said with a grim expression.

Lin Yi’s status was different now; it was better to use his official title in front of others.

Hearing this, Lin Yi and Chu Zhengxiong exchanged a look.

”Then let’s move out. Leave no one alive. Kill them all!”

”Understood!”

Wei Nan nodded and turned around.

He waved his hand toward the warehouse.

The next moment, a hundred people emerged from all directions.

The Left Guard and the Right Guard all charged toward the warehouse together.

Chu Zhengxiong also strode toward the warehouse.

Then, he saw a few people waiting for them up ahead.

Mo Yanfeng, Qin Zhaoxue, Chen Shuang, and Xia Shiyu.

All of them had now returned to the team.

And they had been constantly on the move with Chu Zhengxiong, striking at these processing plants!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!—

Before long, a series of massive explosions echoed from the warehouse.

Large numbers of the Left and Right Guards poured inside.

When Lin Yi and Chu Zhengxiong arrived at the warehouse entrance...

Chu Zhengxiong looked back at him. ”You shouldn’t go in. The Lord General can just stay back and command. Leave the fighting and killing to the men below!”

After speaking, Chu Zhengxiong waved his hand. ”Leave no one alive. Kill them!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Chu Zhengxiong took the lead and charged into the warehouse.

Mo Yanfeng, Qin Zhaoxue, and the others followed close behind...

Lin Yi hesitated for a moment, but still followed them into the warehouse.

But the moment he stepped inside...

...an acrid, metallic stench of blood nearly made him gag.

The place was like a slaughterhouse.

Bodies were hung up everywhere, just like pigs in a butchery.

From deeper within the warehouse, the sounds of fighting and miserable screams could be heard intermittently.

Lin Yi’s brow furrowed, and he didn’t venture any further.

He wisely retreated. The smell inside was unbearable.

He decided to take Chu Zhengxiong’s advice and wait outside.

He did, however, release his divine sense to probe the interior with his consciousness.

The warehouse was massive, covering a large area.

However, Lin Yi soon discovered that these so-called processing plants were not as simple as they appeared on the surface.

The real processing plant was hidden underground.

Fortunately, when Wei Nan and his team had scouted the area, they had already found the entrance to the underground level.

At that moment, Wei Nan was leading the men of the Left and Right Guards.

They were fighting with members of the Blood Handprint in a long underground corridor.

The Blood Handprint members in the processing plant weren’t combat personnel.

Their main job was slaughtering.

Although there were Blood Handprint members in charge of security, they stood no chance against the Left and Right Guards.

The cultivation realms of these Left and Right Guards were all 3-Star and above.

In other words, the weakest among them was at least at Wei Nan’s level.

Most were 4-Star or 5-Star Martial Artists with extremely rich combat experience.

When the Blood Handprint security personnel encountered the Left and Right Guards...

...they were immediately crushed, unable to even put up a fight.

In less than an hour...

...Wei Nan, Chu Zhengxiong, and the others all returned.

”Is everyone taken care of?”

”Taken care of. There were over three hundred Blood Handprint members in total. We killed them all!”

”We rescued more than twenty people. As for the rest...”

Wei Nan did his best to remain calm.

Because the scene he had just witnessed would have been enough to make anyone break down.

It was too horrific.

Those people from the Blood Handprint were simply inhuman.

They butchered people like pigs, without a shred of humanity.

Let alone him, even a hardened veteran like Chu Zhengxiong had little resistance to such a terrifying scene.

Mo Yanfeng, Qin Zhaoxue, and the others were even worse, their faces deathly pale.

Through his divine sense, Lin Yi also discovered many of the Left and Right Guards leaning against walls, vomiting uncontrollably...

Lin Yi said nothing, just nodding.

”Call the Public Security Bureau. Have them come and clean up the scene.”

Then he turned to Chu Zhengxiong. ”Brother Chu, are you coming with us to the next processing plant?”

”Of course! I’m definitely going!”

”Our mission is to clear out these processing plants!”

”Now that the processing plant here has been dealt with, where to next?”

Lin Yi smiled. ”Wherever there’s a processing plant, that’s where we’ll go!”

”And all those Blood Handprint strongholds—we’ll take them all out at the same time!”

Chu Zhengxiong didn’t speak, just nodding as he pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

He took one out, lit it, and exhaled a puff of white smoke.

”Let’s do it then. The sooner we clean them up, the sooner we can have our peaceful lives back!”

”Right now, because of these lunatics, every city is in a state of panic!”

”It’s getting out of control. If we let this atmosphere of fear continue to spread, there’s bound to be chaos sooner or later!”

Lin Yi nodded and glanced at him.

”Brother Chu, is your small team the only one out here from the Demon Hunting Bureau?”

Hearing this, Chu Zhengxiong couldn’t help but chuckle.

”What do you think? After the recent internal purge, so damn many people were arrested.

Even Han Bin and Mo Ya turned out to be from the Blood Handprint. Can you believe it?”

”Sigh... You can know a person’s face, but not their heart. And to think I treated them as comrades, as sworn brothers!”

”Only for them to stab us in the back!”

Chu Zhengxiong’s eyes were bloodshot.

At that moment, Lin Yi finally understood why Chu Zhengxiong was always either clearing out a processing plant or on his way to one.

Chu Zhengxiong was a sentimental man who valued the lives of his brothers more than his own.

Now, of the brothers he once had...

...half were dead, and the other half were enemies.

How could his heart possibly be at peace?

He was just trying to use all this slaughter and bloodshed to numb the wounds in his heart.

Just then, a call came in.

Lin Yi picked up his phone. ”Hello?”

”Lord General, the processing plant and Blood Handprint stronghold in Jiming City have been cleared!”

The call was from Meng Die.

Lin Yi nodded. ”Good. Proceed to the next city!”

”Understood!”

Less than five minutes after he hung up...

...a call came from Yang Biao.

He had also cleared out the city he was assigned to.

As the good news poured in one after another, a smile began to spread across Lin Yi’s face.

It wasn’t until twenty-some minutes later...

...that the people from the Public Security Bureau finally arrived.

After the handover was complete, Lin Yi, Chu Zhengxiong, and Wei Nan...

...headed straight for the next city.

「A week passed in the blink of an eye.」

Under Lin Yi’s command, one processing plant after another was rooted out.

And the Blood Handprint strongholds hidden in various cities...

...were all destroyed.

More than half of the entire New District had returned to its former tranquility.

”Most of the Blood Handprint has now been purged!”

”All that’s left are Helixi City, Pingjiang City, Shiquan City, and Ancient Temple City in Antong Province!”

”And Li’an City, Shanyang City, and Meitou City in Shanshan Province!”

”These cities have a large concentration of Blood Handprint members, and there are even some high-ranking leaders among them. With all the commotion we’ve been making in the cities and provinces of the New District...”

”...it’s impossible for them not to know!”

”But they haven’t scattered and fled, nor have they gone into hiding in other cities. This can only mean one thing... they’re waiting for us!”

After Lin Yi finished speaking...

...Chu Zhengxiong, Wei Nan, Meng Die, and Yang Biao...

...all had deeply furrowed brows.

After a moment, Chu Zhengxiong said, ”So you’re saying they want to fight us to the death?”

Lin Yi shook his head and smiled.

’Who would choose to die if they could live?’

”They might not have the will for a life-or-death battle, but it’s quite possible they’re setting a trap for us!”

”Especially Shiquan City, Ancient Temple City, and Shanyang City!”

”These are the main gathering points for the Blood Handprint in the New District, and Ancient Temple City is their headquarters!”

”The closer we get to their heart, the more fiercely they’ll fight back!”

”So, for these remaining cities, we must be extremely cautious!”

”We need to minimize our casualties while purging all of them!”

When he finished, everyone else nodded.

Chu Zhengxiong’s eyes glinted as he said, ”Give Ancient Temple City to me. I’ll go stab them right in the heart!”

Lin Yi glanced at him and shook his head. ”No one touches Ancient Temple City. We’re going to push in bit by bit.”

”First, we’ll hit Shanyang, Li’an, and Meitou—those three cities!”

”After that, we’ll advance on Helixi, Pingjiang, and Shiquan!”

”I want Ancient Temple City completely surrounded!”

”Also, before we move, contact the Public Security Bureaus in the other cities.

I want them all out patrolling the streets!”

”If they find anyone suspicious, I want them all apprehended!”

”At this critical juncture, I won’t allow any city to drag us down, and I certainly won’t allow any other Blood Handprint members to sneak up on us from behind!”

”If any city has a problem, if any Blood Handprint members pop up there, I’ll hold them accountable later!”

After Lin Yi finished speaking...

...he looked up at all of them and said, ”Have you all got that?”

”Yes, understood!”

”Then everyone to your posts. Get ready to work!”

”This time, as long as we can take down all the remaining cities...”

”...the New District can return to its former peace, and the people won’t have to worry anymore!”

”So, this time, I want you to give it everything you’ve got and crush them to death!”

”Any member of the Blood Handprint—kill on sight. Leave none alive!”

”Understood!”
