The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Cold War

Xia Wenjin waved her hand repeatedly, full of righteousness, and said, ”No conditions, no conditions! Am I the type of person who takes advantage of others’ misfortune?” Her tone shifted, ”I only need you to satisfy one small request for me...”

Is there a difference between conditions and requests?

The assassin gritted his teeth with anger and asked hoarsely, ”What request?”

Xia Wenjin widened her innocent eyes, her tone sincere, with a thirst for knowledge, ”Just answer my previous question, who hired you to kill me?”

Assassin: ”...”

This assassin felt a chill in his heart, yet he replied defiantly, ”Do as you please, kill me or torture me! Just make it quick!”

”Oh, quite the spine you have there!” Xia Wenjin shed her previous innocence and panic, laughing as a silver needle appeared in her hand with a flick of her wrist. She said, ”Truthfully, I don’t care much about the answer, but I’d definitely be happier if you told me! Now that you won’t say, I’m unhappy, and when I’m unhappy, I have to make myself happy! You agree, don’t you?”

Assassin: ”...”

Agree with his nonsense, had he encountered a madman? The young girl before him was so young, yet those eyes—suddenly he dared not meet them.

They were a beautiful pair of eyes, gleaming like stars in the night sky, and she was always smiling, but he had looked carefully just now, and that smile never reached her eyes. In her gaze lay a deep, inscrutable black hole like the dark night.

This assassin had killed many, but at this moment, he felt the true killer was standing before him.

Xia Wenjin kindly and cheerfully explained, ”You probably don’t know how potent Ruanguan Duanchang Cuixin San is, do you? This poison, like its name, has three layers: softening the tendons, breaking the intestines, and destroying the heart. You are now in the tendon-softening stage; in a quarter-hour, the intestines will break, and in half an hour, the heart will be struck. But you won’t die immediately; during that time, you’ll feel the changes in your visceral organs distinctly. I’ve heard that the agony is so intense that even if bones are made of iron, no one can endure it!”

The young girl before him spoke with a smile, yet her words chilled him to the bone, ”The feeling of intestines breaking, the feeling of organs being destroyed inch by inch, and that pain is beyond what hard bones can withstand. You probably think I’m exaggerating. So I will kindly let you first experience the feeling of intestines breaking and heart destroying; you will enjoy this torment for half an hour before dying. I never lie, I promise you’ll find it unforgettable for life, so much so that you’ll never want to be human again in your next life!”

Xia Wenjin was clearly smiling, yet the assassin felt a chill creep over him. Her hand held the silver needle steadily, gesturing in front of the assassin as if considering where to stab it.

The life of an assassin is cruel and composed, with a heart as hard as iron.

He was like that too, but this time, he felt something sinister.

This mere boy, though young, had an unyielding mind, fell into a trap once due to a miscalculation, and this time, clearly had fallen into a snare.

The eyes before him were beautiful, elegantly refined, as bright as the stars, but that gaze, the icy coldness in the depths, cloaked him in a feeling akin to being enveloped in ice.

It was not a simple boy’s gaze but an aura of deadly decisiveness, a pressing atmosphere as if faced by King Yan himself, with a chilling might surging from the heart, enshrouding him completely, suffocating him with the weight.

How could just a gaze be so terrifying?

Xia Wenjin’s words bore into his heart, but she smiled, amiably discussing the weather, ”Speak up, who sent you to kill me?”

The assassin clenched his teeth under heavy pressure; he couldn’t say a word.

Xia Wenjin laughed, ”Looks like you don’t quite believe my words!” Her alabaster fingers pinched the silver needle, piercing it into the flesh of the man in black.

”Hmm...” a suppressed, agonizing groan.

Just hearing the sound, one could tell how painful it was—not the pain of a needle piercing flesh, but the pain induced by the drug!

Xia Wenjin wasn’t scaring him; this was her concoction, an unparalleled recipe left by Wu Li, the Poison Venerable, famous throughout the world several hundred years ago. The ingredients for this poison were common, available in abundance in the Hua Cheng Villa’s storeroom. But even with the recipe, crafting it was exceedingly difficult; a slight deviation leading to total failure, almost lost to time.

Xia Wenjin, in her previous life, by a stroke of luck, through countless failures, finally gained the knowledge to concoct it.

Unfortunately, at that time, she was just a sword in Huangfu Yuxuan’s hand, thinking he was the kindest person to her, repaying him with full devotion, following his every word. When he wanted poison, she concocted it for him, never knowing who he used it on.

And now, this was her first time using it herself.

This poison was excessively vicious, but Xia Wenjin thought, whether poison or sword, it was about the same—tools to take life. The key was in the hands of the user!

Used for good, the sword or poison could punish evil.

Used for evil, any object could be deadlier than poison.

In her previous life, she was just a puppet, blinded by so-called affection, and in Huangfu Yuxuan’s hands, Ruangan Duanchang Cuixin San had taken countless lives.

In this life, holding it herself, she vowed never to harm the innocent with this poison!

The assassin was sweating profusely from the pain, experiencing the torturous agony of gut-wrenching and organ-tearing. His mouth moved, but no words came out, as Xia Wenjin calmly said, ”Painful, isn’t it?”

The assassin was beyond speech.

Xia Wenjin laughed, ”I did warn you! But with such hard bones, wanting a taste, I had to oblige you. I’m just too kind! Just a simple gesture, no need to thank me!”

Assassin: ”...”

There was a curse on his lips, MMP, but he couldn’t speak it.

Xia Wenjin tossed him aside, walked to another assassin, squatted down, and seeing the fear in that assassin’s eyes, her lips curled into a pure smile as she kindly said, ”You’re companions, sharing in both fortune and hardship, maybe I should help you too!”

The other assassin witnessed his companion’s ordeal and had seen it all. Even as an assassin, he was afraid, especially now that his companion lay on the ground, silent, yet the twisted face, the spasms, those pained eyes sent a shiver through him.

To speak or not to speak? That was the question.

His companion, undoubtedly in extreme pain, couldn’t even muster the strength to roll over, only his face twitching, contorting his expression. He could do nothing, yet his mind was clear, clearly bearing the unspeakable agony.

As an assassin, knowing that a skill shortcoming led to death was one thing, but to die so miserably...

He had never died like this, and did not wish to experience it either.
