The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Flies

”Look, I told you it’s best to swat a fly as soon as you see it, or else it becomes a never-ending trouble!”

Xia Wenjin abruptly retreated a large step, the two attackers were swift; one of them slashed at her left arm, tearing a small hole in her sleeve.

She stared at the hole, her eyes widening, and a hint of panic appeared, as if she hadn’t expected the dagger to be so fast, she exclaimed in shock, ”So fierce, y... you... y... you really dare kill here knowing this is the Governor Mansion?”

No wonder this kid acted so high and mighty like a big bad wolf earlier, turns out he was staging an empty city strategy to scare them away. The two assassins realized they saw through Xia Wenjin’s ploy, and sneered coldly, ”Who do you think you are? Just some pampered girl from a wealthy family. We could kill you eight hundred times without any trouble! Attack!”

The two attacked again.

Xia Wenjin dodged while urgently saying, ”Wait, isn’t it against Jianghu ethics for two of you to bully a frail little soul like me?”

This kid knew about Jianghu ethics? They were assassins, not people of Jianghu; who cared about Jianghu ethics?

The man on the left slashed diagonally with his knife right at Xia Wenjin’s face; he was skilled with the blade.

”You’re serious?” Xia Wenjin exclaimed in surprise, ducking to the ground. The assassin laughed angrily; they were sent to kill this kid, of course they were serious, not just trying to scare him.

The assassin on the right murmured, ”Quick and decisive!”

Xia Wenjin desperately waved his hands, saying, ”Stop stop stop, before I die, I have something to say!”

The assassin on the left murmured, ”There’s no rush, he won’t escape today anyway!”

Xia Wenjin immediately seized the chance, ”Since you’re going to kill me, at least tell me who’s commanding my death, so I can die with clear understanding, right?”

The two exchanged glances but said nothing.

Xia Wenjin blinked his big eyes, pitifully saying, ”What? You’re not even willing to fulfill a dying person’s wish?”

The man on the right sneered fiercely, ”Go ask in Yama Hall!” They attacked Xia Wenjin with perfect coordination.

Still not saying anything at this point?

These two thought this kid in front of them was dumb, growing complacent, but their moves were vicious, aiming for swift victory.

Xia Wenjin had planned to lure the snakes out of their holes; she was truthful about being followed by these assassins wanting her life, it’s not a pleasant experience, it’s crucial to eliminate such threats!

Born in Jianghu, she never holds back against evil people.

Not to mention her past life in battlefields of bloodshed, when did she ever fear holding back?

People don’t trouble her, she doesn’t trouble them; it’s the assassins who troubled her first.

The door was shut; Xia Wenjin had no concern, unleashing the Shadow Circulation Step, casting a trail of illusions as she moved around; the two assassins had weapons, skilled moves, strong force, and deep inner strength, but Xia Wenjin was too slippery; despite their skills, they couldn’t hit her—what good was it?

Actually, at this moment, Xia Wenjin felt quite lucky.

In her past life at this age, she neither knew Shadow Circulation Step nor medicine, just a passionate girl naïve with Huangfu Yuxuan’s gentle deceit promising to give her life and blood for the last glimmer of hope.

If it were her past life facing these two assassins, she would only flee; now, she can fight back.

Shadow Circulation Step moves where seen it seems, suddenly appearing behind, looking like to the left, actually to the right.

The two assassins were spinning in circles, the scent in the room was growing more pungent, which they found intolerable.

Who would’ve thought a pampered Wealthy Young Master could be so skilled?

Initially, these two were glad they’d split silver between two instead of six; now they deeply felt hiring six was justified.

This kid moved like a ghost, couldn’t be caught, nor hit.

More distressing was they were dizzy.

Xia Wenjin circled to the right, extended a hand, and struck the assassin’s neck; already dizzy from her moves and smell, his vision blurred, caught completely off guard, collapsing silently.

The left-hand assassin panicked, alert, but his vision went dark, collapsing as well.

Xia Wenjin stood, looking at the two unconscious assassins, muttering, ”I’ve been waiting for you all along; did you think entering my room would be so easy?”

The room needed incense; she had asked Wang Wan’er.

Such small matters, Wang Wan’er would surely agree; hence the room was filled with incense.

The difference was, Xia Wenjin used ordinary incense when in the room, but added ingredients when she left!

Going out demands absolute safety, disguising well, but what if someone entered and noticed her absence?

These two assassins had deep inner strength, slow reaction to the incense, while a servant would circle around, passing out inside.

Xia Wenjin tore the bedsheet to bind them, pulled out pills stuffing their mouths, used leftover fabric to gag them; upon finishing, actually felt quite tired, rubbing her left shoulder, slightly grimacing from the pain!

But she soon returned to normal, picking up leftover tea, splashing their faces.

Adding water to the incense antidote, the left assassin jerked awake, unfocused, gradually saw Xia Wenjin smiling at him, seemingly disbelief, stunned, eyes almost popping out.

Xia Wenjin deftly removed the gag.

The assassin, shocked, stammered, ”Y... y... you...”

”I... I... I...” Xia Wenjin blinked, long lashes like fans, innocent expression, anxious tone, ”Feeling uncomfortable in the chest, can’t muster energy? Whole body weak?”

The two assassins startled, tried circulating inner strength, indeed confirming!

Seeing their terrified expressions, Xia Wenjin appeared even more anxious, apologizing repeatedly, ”I’m so sorry, while waking you I accidentally fed you the Soft Tendon Disembowel Heart Crushing Powder. You won’t live beyond an hour, what do we do now?”

Soft Tendon Disembowel Heart Crushing Powder? What nonsense is this?

Never heard of it, but it sounds formidable.

Accidentally? This kid obviously did it on purpose!

Yet his expression was so innocent, panicking like a wrongdoer child, the killers invoked ancestral curses indistinctly.

Xia Wenjin’s gaze grew more innocent, eyes sincere, hands folded in pleading, ”Don’t worry, I have the antidote, I’m sure I can save you...”

”Conditions?” This kid wouldn’t be so kind?
