The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 773: The Dream Continues

In a daze, Shien found himself in a dream, a distant yet familiar dream.

In the dream, the world hadn’t been born yet, only boundless nothingness and endless darkness existed, like a universe without celestial bodies or starlight.

Shien floated in this place, staring at the darkness and nothingness, thinking for a long time before remembering where he had seen this place.

“Is this the dream I saw when I met Omnis in the sanctuary…?”

He wasn’t sure.

But as if drawn by something, he flew in a certain direction.

He flew for a long… long… time, so long that he forgot the concept of time.

But strangely, he didn’t feel bored or impatient, as if guided by something, continuously flying forward.

Finally, he saw it.

Two faintly familiar light sources appeared in the boundless darkness and nothingness.

The light sources were the only things that didn’t belong in this endless void.

However, even more out of place were the beings within the light—two delicate and adorable little girls, possessing an otherworldly beauty, their eyes closed as if sleeping, like babies in a womb, waiting to be awakened.

One girl had shoulder-length, silver-white hair, the other shoulder-length, jet-black hair. Beneath their fluttering eyelids, one had a pair of blue eyes, the other red, like twins of opposite natures.

But even more striking were the gems they held in their arms, one blue, one red, both shining with a captivating light.

“It really is this dream,” Shien finally confirmed that he was seeing the same dream he had in the sanctuary. He remembered what happened next.

“The little girl holding the blue gem will wake up first and leave.”

Just as he said this, the silver-haired girl holding the blue gem woke up, her blue eyes as vast as the ocean, as beautiful as the sky. Unfortunately, those beautiful eyes held little emotion. And just as Shien remembered, after waking up, she stared at the black-haired girl for a long time, then, as if giving up on something, she looked at the blue gem in her arms. The gem suddenly shone brilliantly, creating a blue world within this nothingness.

The first time he saw this, Shien didn’t understand its meaning.

Now, he did.

“This is the omnipotent Goddess creating the world.”

Yes.

This was the omnipotent Goddess, the Supreme God Omnis, using her power for the first time after her birth to create the world.

This silver-haired girl holding the blue gem was undoubtedly the newly born Supreme God—Omnis.

In that case…

“Then she’s the newly born Demon King, Claudis…?”

Shien turned to the black-haired girl. Looking closely, he noticed many details. For example, this little girl looked a bit like Leisha or Lasha when they were young. And the red gem in her arms quickly caught his attention.

“This gem…” He frowned, feeling he had seen it before, also in a dream. Not this current dream, nor the previous identical dream, but another dream he had after seeing this dream in the sanctuary. He remembered boldly holding the Supreme Goddess and sleeping in the flower field all night. And that night, he dreamt of this red gem flying into his body.

Since this gem belonged to Claudis, the Demon King, he didn’t think it was just a simple dream.

“What happened?”

He couldn’t find the answer, but this didn’t stop him from continuing to watch.

Omnis, having completed her first act of creation, flew towards the world she created, carrying the blue gem.

“She didn’t even notice that as she left, the little girl who was born with her, awakened.”

As Shien murmured, the black-haired girl’s eyelids fluttered, and she opened her eyes.

Last time, Shien’s dream ended here.

But this time, it continued.

The awakened black-haired girl, holding the red gem, drifted through the nothingness, her ruby-red eyes, although emotionless, conveying a clear feeling: loneliness. That deep loneliness made Shien’s heart ache, wanting to hug her.

And just as he felt this heartache, the little girl finally moved.

She turned her head and saw the blue world.

At this moment, a faint light appeared in her red eyes.

She wanted to enter that blue world, not wanting to remain in this nothingness, alone and lonely.

And she did just that.

Like the silver-haired girl before her, she flew towards the blue world.

But as she entered, something unexpected happened.

“Clang!”

A crimson light suddenly shone from the red gem in her arms. Like a beast seeing food, or a hunter seeing prey, the red gem shone brilliantly, releasing a terrifying power, like an invisible tide, instantly engulfing the blue world.

The sky shattered.

The earth crumbled.

The entire blue world was instantly destroyed by the terrifying power released from the red gem.

Soon, the blue world was completely destroyed.

The black-haired girl stared blankly at this scene, seemingly at a loss.

Then, the silver-haired girl holding the blue gem appeared. She looked coldly at the black-haired girl, as if looking at her mortal enemy, and angrily raised the blue gem, which also released an astonishing power.

Unfortunately, that power, before even reaching the black-haired girl, was annihilated by the red gem in her hand.

The silver-haired girl frowned, a hint of apprehension in her eyes as she looked at the black-haired girl.

The black-haired girl finally reacted and looked at the silver-haired girl.

But the silver-haired girl turned and flew away, as if wanting to distance herself from the black-haired girl.

The black-haired girl’s lips moved slightly, as if wanting to say something, but she couldn’t.

The silver-haired girl naturally ignored her, flying into the distance, then raising the blue gem again.

In the next second, a new world was created.

The silver-haired girl flew into it, leaving the black-haired girl alone in the boundless darkness, loneliness once again enveloping her.

She looked at the blue world, hesitation and longing in her eyes.

Finally, longing overcame hesitation, and she entered the blue world.

Seeing this, Shien knew what would happen next.

“Don’t go in!” he shouted.

But his voice couldn’t reach her.

The black-haired girl entered the blue world.

And the red gem in her arms released its terrifying power for the second time.

Without any suspense, the new world was destroyed.

And this time, the enraged silver-haired girl, no longer holding back, charged towards the black-haired girl.

The black-haired girl had to fight back.

Thus, in the boundless darkness and nothingness, two streaks of light, one red, one blue, chased and clashed repeatedly at astonishing speed.

Each collision created terrifying ripples that shook the void.

Each chase seemed to transcend spacetime, leaving behind a trail of intense confrontation.

Especially the power released from the two gems, it made Shien tremble with fear.

One gem could instantly create a world, the other could instantly destroy it. Such a clash naturally created a terrifying commotion. If this weren’t a place without anything, not even the concepts of time and space, the consequences would be far more severe.

The destined twins clashed continuously, the black-haired girl ultimately dominating.

The silver-haired girl, unable to defeat her, could only retreat.

The black-haired girl, seeing this, was silent for a long time, then followed her.

What happened next was a repetition, without any change.

The silver-haired girl repeatedly created worlds, only for the black-haired girl to destroy them. Whenever a new world was created, the black-haired girl, unable to bear the loneliness, would enter it. And her power was terrifying, beyond her control at that time, unlike the silver-haired girl, who seemed to be born with perfect control, only weaker than the black-haired girl.

Thus, the silver-haired girl kept creating, the black-haired girl kept destroying, and then the silver-haired girl would angrily fight the black-haired girl, only to be defeated every time, retreating unwillingly and creating a new world. She tried to avoid the black-haired girl, but no matter where she went, the black-haired girl could always find her. Not being her match, she could only try to create more perfect and resilient worlds, less easily destroyed.

This continued for an unknown amount of time.

Unknowingly, the silver-haired girl became a beautiful goddess.

Unknowingly, the black-haired girl became an equally beautiful Demon King.

Their repeated battles, the cycle of creation and destruction, ultimately led to the birth of the world known as “Omnipotence.”

This world was undoubtedly the most satisfactory one created by the Goddess.

And by this time, the Demon King had finally gained control over her power, no longer forced to destroy worlds.

Filled with anticipation, she entered the world called Omnipotence.

However, she didn’t know that this world wasn’t friendly to her.

There, she met the second being besides the silver-haired Goddess.

This happened in a boundless flower field.

“She” suddenly emerged from the flowers and appeared before her.

“Who are you…?” the girl with the same long, straight black hair asked, looking at her with disbelief.

She could sense that this girl was weak, incredibly weak, so weak that she could crush her with a single finger.

But at the same time, there was a power on her that she couldn’t ignore, a power emanating from her hand, a magnificent sword with flickering light, a sword that threatened her.

She instinctively wanted to destroy the sword and the girl wielding it.

But her long-standing loneliness made her hesitate, and after a long silence, as the girl’s confusion grew, she finally spoke.

“My name… is Claudis…”

This was the first time Claudis, the Demon King, spoke.

The girl, unaware of this, simply blinked, then smiled.

“My name is Nien, and I heard I’m a Hero,” she said cheerfully, “Nice to meet you, Claudis.”

Saying this, she extended a hand towards the Demon King.

The Demon King, not understanding, but unable to resist the light in the girl’s eyes, mechanically extended her hand as well.

The girl immediately grasped her hand, her smile widening.

“Wonderful! I’ve been here for a while, and I’ve finally met someone besides that boring Omnis.”

She shook the Demon King’s hand and said the words that Claudis would never forget for the rest of her life,

“From today onwards, we’re friends! Best friends! You have to protect me from that mean goddess, okay? Claudis!”

Thus, the Hero and the Demon King became friends.

The dream ended there.

Before waking up, Shien saw a smile, a beautiful smile he had never seen on the Demon King’s face.

Chapter 774: The One Who Summons the Hero

Meanwhile, within the Conversion Pool of the Demon King’s Pavilion, the red gem continued to spin above Shien’s head, emitting a crimson light that illuminated the entire pavilion.

The Demon Lords stared at the red gem excitedly, even wanting to reach out and take it.

However, the gem suddenly spun faster, releasing a terrifying magic power, fundamentally different from ordinary magic power. If normal magic power was gaseous, then this was solid, condensed from incredibly dense gas. If ordinary magic power was like a thread, then this was like a needle. It was a difference in quality.

Facing this magic power, the Demon Lords froze, unable to move.

“Mother…!?” they cried out, as if their mother was rejecting them, their hearts aching.

However, the terrifying magic power then fluctuated, transforming into rainbow-colored streams of energy that flowed into their bodies through the Conversion Pool.

The Demon Lords’ auras surged.

They were startled, then realized,

“Is Mother replenishing our lost power?” Kamina asked, a joyful look on her face.

The other Demon Lords felt the same. The terrifying magic power released by the red gem, converted by the Conversion Pool, replenished the small portion of power they had just lost. In other words, not only were they not weakened, but they had also successfully pushed Shien to Limit Level.

However, they were more concerned about something else.

“Have you awakened, Mother?” Lid called out.

Sara, Shafney, Millu, and Airi also looked at the red gem expectantly, hoping it was their mother’s doing, a sign of her awakening. This way, they would have a chance to see their deceased mother again. This was what they truly desired.

Unfortunately, the gem remained motionless, simply spinning, like an inanimate object, showing no reaction other than releasing power.

“Mother!”

“Mother!”

Sara and Shafney also couldn’t help but call out, hoping to summon the one they longed for.

“Mother…” Airi murmured, her face filled with endless sadness.

Finally, the red gem moved slightly. It hovered up and down, then flew out, slowly, its every movement clearly visible to the Demon Lords. Like a gentle hand, it passed over each of them, pausing for a moment before moving on to the next. The Demon Lords felt as if they saw a familiar figure, accompanied by the red gem, appearing before them, as if looking at them, even caressing their faces, bringing a sense of warmth.

“Mother…” They couldn’t hold back their tears any longer, even Sara and Shafney.

They felt as if they had returned to the past, to the time before their birth, when they were just tiny lives nurtured within the Demon King’s magic power, without form or power, like water droplets gaining consciousness in a vast ocean. At that time, the vast magic power gently nurtured them, giving them warmth and life, shaping them into what they were now. That feeling was exactly the same as now, their mother’s magic power reappearing, bringing warmth and replenishing their lost power.

The red gem passed over each Demon Lord, its magic power gently enveloping them, as if conveying something.

Finally, it returned to above Shien’s head and, under the Demon Lords’ gazes, without any hesitation, re-entered his body.

“Mother!”

“Mother!”

The Demon Lords instinctively reached out, but in the end, they could only embrace a warm body.

Shien’s magic power gradually subsided, the three lights receding into his body.

Then, he slowly opened his eyes, his eyes widening instantly upon seeing the scene before him.

Looking at the beautiful, naked girls crying and clinging to him, Shien’s mind went blank.

“What… what’s going on…!?”

His bewildered cry echoed through the Demon King’s Pavilion.

…

Divine Realm, a remote, sealed land.

In a temple, Nien looked at the scene reflected on the screen before her, Shien being embraced by a group of beautiful, naked girls, his expression dumbfounded, and sighed softly.

“This is troublesome,” she murmured, worried.

Recalling the three lights, she continued,

“The power within him, after being stimulated this time, is truly about to awaken.”

No one knew Shien better than Nien. He was the Hero she summoned, and she was the Goddess of Summoning, the embodiment of the Supreme God, one with the [Hero Summoning] ritual. In this world, besides the omnipotent Goddess, no one understood Heroes better than her. Especially Shien. Since the day she summoned him, she knew how special he was. Naturally, she also knew the terrifying power hidden within him, a power far beyond that of an ordinary Hero.

However, that power was dangerous and uncontrollable, hidden deep within him. If possible, she didn’t want it to awaken. She only wanted Shien to be her Hero, nothing more. Therefore, she only wanted him to grow stronger as a Hero. Even just that, once he reached Transcendence, he would be no weaker than Lildas, the Goddess of Fate, practically invincible in this world without the Demon King and the Supreme God.

That was enough. This was Nien’s greatest expectation for him.

Who knew that in the end, not only did he obtain the Demon King’s gem, but the hidden power within him was also awakened.

“With the Demon King’s gem active within his body, and the six Demon Lords using their magic power to stimulate his potential and enhance his strength, coupled with him reaching Limit Level, the theoretical limit of life, these multiple factors finally awakened that power.”

Although that power was only partially awakened, and Shien couldn’t control or even sense it yet, as he transcended and surpassed Limit Level, perhaps that power would be fully unleashed.

At that time, he would no longer be just a Hero.

“Should I intervene?” Nien hesitated. She wanted to use her power to seal the hidden power within Shien. With her connection to him, before that power was fully awakened, sealing it wasn’t impossible.

However…

“If I do that…” she murmured.

Just then, another voice interrupted her.

“If you do that, you will exhaust all your power, unable to maintain your form as a goddess, and you will collapse, reverting to your original form as the summoning ritual.”

This incredibly pleasant yet emotionless voice made Nien’s heart tremble. She abruptly turned around.

There, a figure stood.

“She” had her back to Nien, her long, silver hair reaching her knees, swaying gently as if in a breeze. Her limbs were slender and graceful, her back incredibly beautiful, her jade-like feet bare, exuding a transcendent aura. She simply stood there, not releasing any power, seemingly powerless.

However, anyone who saw her would feel an urge to worship. Their very instincts as living beings told them that this was their creator, the origin of everything, the beginning, the mother, the creator, the supreme being.

“She” was—God.

“You…!” Nien couldn’t help but take a step back, her face filled with shock.

“Impossible…!” She couldn’t believe her eyes.

“You… aren’t you supposed to be in an eternal slumber, never to awaken again?” Nien asked, her voice trembling.

Hearing this, the Goddess raised her head.

“Indeed, I’ve lost interest in everything in this world and didn’t want to awaken again,” she said, her voice echoing through the temple like a song from heaven, “At least, that was my decision before I fell asleep.”

In other words, something unexpected had happened, something worthy of her attention, something that stirred her emotions, had appeared in this world.

Therefore, the goddess who was supposed to be in an eternal slumber, had awakened.

If the God Race knew about this, they would be overjoyed, especially the Three Goddesses, who would probably cry tears of joy and lose their composure. This goddess was their faith, their supreme spiritual pillar. Countless Goddesses had hoped for her awakening, even shedding tears when she fell into her eternal slumber, but they never received a response, only inheriting the responsibility of managing the world, guiding its development for their god.

Now, the Supreme God they worshipped had awakened. One could imagine their excitement, definitely no less than the Demon Lords seeing the Demon King’s gem.

Unfortunately…

“…Since you’ve already decided, why wake up again?” Nien asked, the only one who didn’t welcome the Goddess’s return, her voice filled with hostility, “This world no longer needs you, and there’s nothing here worthy of your attention. Just return to your sanctuary and continue your slumber.”

Nien’s words were incredibly disrespectful. To show such hostility towards the creator of all things, the truly omnipotent Goddess, was a crime punishable by death. Nien knew how dangerous it was to say such things before this true god. But like the Demon Lords, she couldn’t suppress her emotions. She only felt hatred towards this being who was supposed to be her mother. And she knew that before this truly omnipotent Goddess, any attempt to hide her feelings was useless. She could easily see through a person’s true nature, their essence, even their future. Only the Demon King could resist her. Nien wasn’t the Demon King, nor did she possess her power. Therefore, she couldn’t resist this being, not even hiding her true feelings. Since that was the case, there was no point in pretending.

So, Nien expressed her true emotions.

“…” The Goddess didn’t respond, simply remaining silent, as if looking at a distant human man, lost in thought.

This made Nien incredibly irritated.

But before she could vent her frustration, the Goddess spoke.

“He’s not just your Hero, but also mine.”

These words made Nien explode.

“No! He’s not!” she shouted, as if a scale had been touched, “He’s only my Hero! He has nothing to do with you!”

The Goddess, however, remained indifferent to Nien’s outburst.

“I’m simply stating a fact,” she said, her voice flat, “Since the power within him has awakened, I can no longer sleep.”

The implication was that the Supreme God was about to return.

“Don’t worry, I won’t interfere with him,” the Goddess murmured, “But I will always watch him, until he comes before me again.”

Hearing this, Nien almost charged forward, but she held back.

“…He’s mine,” she said impassively, “Even you can’t take him away.”

“Is that so?” the Goddess asked coldly, “Then let’s wait and see.”

Saying this, she turned around and looked at Nien. Her face, identical to Nien’s, held emotions Nien couldn’t understand.

Then, the Goddess said,

“By the way, there’s one thing you might have misunderstood for a very long time.”

What was it?

It was simple.

“Actually, I only learned about your existence a thousand years ago,” the Goddess revealed this shocking secret.

“Before that, I didn’t know the [Hero Summoning] had gained a will, nor did I know that I had an incarnation in this world.”

These words made Nien’s pupils constrict. She wanted to deny it vehemently. If this were true, then who was the one who used her as a mere summoning ritual, disregarding her will and repeatedly summoning Heroes…?

The Goddess saw through her thoughts.

“That wasn’t me.”

“The one who used you to summon Heroes wasn’t me either.”

“I’ve only summoned a Hero once in my life.”

“The one who used you wasn’t me, but a pitiful woman who hoped to achieve self-redemption through the Hero’s power.”

Leaving these words, the Goddess disappeared.

Only Nien remained, stunned by this sudden revelation, unable to recover for a long time.
