The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 659: Sisters

In the Supreme Castle of the Moon Demon’s central city, at the top of the Demon Realm, the six Demon Lords gathered.

It had been a long time since the six sisters last met.

Logically, they should be excited.

However, from the beginning, Airi had been impatient, as if wanting to leave as soon as possible.

The six sisters reacted differently to Airi’s behavior.

“Return to the Human Realm?” Sara said, exasperated, “You just came back a few days ago, and you’re already in such a hurry to go back?”

Sara’s resentment was obvious, even tinged with a hint of jealousy, like a mother about to marry off her daughter.

Clearly, Sara had guessed why Airi was so eager to return to the Human Realm.

Airi was still impatient.

“Sister Sara, you’ve already made all the necessary arrangements, and we just need to cooperate with you, right?” Airi said bluntly, “Sister Shafney and Sister Lid are enough to help you with strategizing. It doesn’t matter whether I’m here or not.”

Airi had always been like this, laid-back. Although capable of thinking, she disliked it, preferring to sleep, always leaving matters of the Demon Race to Sara, even entrusting the affairs of her own territory to her subordinates, completely hands-off.

If it weren’t for this, Airi wouldn’t have been able to spend so much time in the Human Realm, adventuring with Shien.

This time was the same. Airi only planned to return and cooperate with Sara, not to do any actual work.

Unexpectedly, such a major event happened while she was back in the Demon Realm.

This made Airi extremely anxious, eager to return to the Human Realm.

Not only Sara, but the other sisters also noticed this.

Especially Lid, who, like Sara, was displeased.

“Since when did you become so concerned about a single person?”

Lid saw through Airi’s thoughts. After all, she had met the person Airi cared about.

“Shien?” Millu tilted her head and called out his name.

This piqued the interest of the other sisters.

“Are you talking about the human that little Airi favors and even declared her protection over?” Shafney said, seemingly very interested, “I heard that person is the Hero who’s been causing such a commotion recently, right?”

Shafney’s words made Airi look at her.

“What do you want?” Airi asked, a look of warning and vigilance in her eyes.

However, this only intensified Shafney’s interest.

“Don’t be nervous, little Airi, I’m just curious about the man you favor,” Shafney chuckled, her words and laughter ambiguous, “I’ve wanted to meet him ever since I heard about it, and I even planned to go to the Human Realm specifically for that. Who knew such a major event would happen, and that person is actually the Hero summoned after a thousand years? I was truly surprised.”

Kamina echoed Shafney’s words.

“I was also a little curious and planned to go to the Human Realm and see,” Kamina said, her eyes flickering thoughtfully, “A human who could even make the indifferent Airi interested is truly intriguing. But the fact that he’s the Hero is quite surprising.”

Kamina’s tone seemed to carry a hint of malice.

If Shafney’s curiosity towards Shien was like finding an interesting toy, then Kamina’s curiosity was like having a toy taken away from her, faintly displeased.

There was no helping it.

“You’ve never been so concerned and anxious about our matters,” Kamina said, expressing her dissatisfaction.

Clearly, these Demon Lord sisters were very concerned about their youngest sister, Airi.

Otherwise, these renowned Demon Lords wouldn’t pay so much attention to Shien just because Airi favored him.

Airi, however, was annoyed by this.

“Don’t you dare have any ideas about him. He can’t handle your recklessness,” Airi warned her sisters.

Unfortunately, this had the opposite effect.

“Don’t say that,” Shafney said with a meaningful smile, “Someone who can make our little sister so interested shouldn’t be afraid of me, right?”

“Indeed,” Kamina agreed, “He’s the Hero, protected by the Holy Sword. Even a little physical contact shouldn’t ‘melt’ him, right?”

The two witches’ words made Airi frown deeply.

Honestly, she didn’t want them to interact with Shien at all.

The reason was simple: it was too dangerous.

Unlike Airi, who had somewhat restrained her ruthlessness after the war ended, Kamina, the Poison Demon, considered as ruthless as the Dragon Demon, was still unpredictable and volatile.

Coupled with her terrifying abilities, it would be no joke if she personally contacted Shien.

Although Millu was also dangerous, her danger was controllable. With Lid by her side, and as long as one could please her, this Ghost Demon wouldn’t lose control.

But Kamina was different.

Millu’s danger wasn’t intentional. She was actually quite innocent and naive, just sometimes going a bit too far.

Kamina, however, was intentionally dangerous. If truly displeased, she wouldn’t hesitate to destroy a country or two.

How could Airi not be worried about letting such a being interact with Shien?

Fortunately, as Kamina said, Shien was the Hero, protected by the Holy Sword, so he shouldn’t be killed by Kamina’s abilities.

But if Shafney also became interested in Shien, that would be troublesome.

Because this Demon Lord’s abilities weren’t within the Holy Sword’s protection.

If she made a move, it wouldn’t be a laughing matter.

If he accidentally fell for her tricks, what would happen to Shien?

Just thinking about it made Airi’s mood worsen.

Just as Airi was about to issue another warning, Lid spoke first.

“Airi, did you already know that person was the Hero?” Lid stared at Airi, “His exposed identity doesn’t seem to affect your feelings for him. You must have known his identity all along, or perhaps it’s because of his identity that you became interested in him and stayed by his side, right?”

Lid finally revealed the reason behind Airi’s actions.

She had never understood why Airi suddenly went to the Human Realm and became so interested in a human.

Now, the answer seemed to be revealed.

It was because this human wasn’t ordinary at all.

Airi didn’t deny it.

“At first, I did approach him because I discovered his identity,” Airi admitted.

However, the other Demon Lords heard the underlying meaning.

“At first?” Millu tilted her head, confused.

“I see, at first,” Shafney chuckled secretly.

“At first?” Lid’s tone was filled with helplessness.

“So, you’re so fond of him now not because he’s the Hero, but because something else about him attracted you, right?” Kamina hit the nail on the head.

Airi was speechless.

This was the truth.

Airi didn’t think she could hide it from her perceptive sisters.

So, she remained silent, only her childish and cute face showing her displeasure.

Seeing Airi like this, Sara finally spoke again.

“I can’t believe Airi would fall for a Hero one day. This is news that could resurrect countless demons killed by the Hero’s Holy Sword,” Sara said. She had wanted to say this for a long time.

After all, among the Demon Lords present, besides Airi, Sara was the first to know that Shien was the Hero.

Since then, Sara had been preparing for this day.

She knew that once Shien’s identity was exposed, it would definitely cause a huge shock in the Demon Race and the Demon Realm, even affecting the peace that had lasted for a thousand years between the three races.

“The reason I gathered you here today is to discuss this matter,” Sara said, tapping the table, “Tell me, how do you think we should deal with this Hero?”

Sara brought up today’s topic.

Originally, the reason for the Demon Lords’ gathering wasn’t this, but to discuss the emergence of the Original Demon.

But now, Shien’s matter was undoubtedly the most urgent issue that needed to be addressed first.

“We do need to find a solution,” Lid agreed, “Many short-tempered fellows in my territory are causing trouble.”

“Same here,” Kamina said casually, yet her words were terrifying, “I’ve already dealt with several of the most restless ones. If it weren’t for the fact that this Hero is the human Airi favors, I would have let those guys test him.”

“Really?” Airi immediately said, “I heard that you’ve all been more or less lenient in your territories. Many in the Demon Race must have already gone to cause trouble for my person, right?”

“What?” Shafney teased, “Is our little Airi worried about that Hero?”

Airi didn’t bother answering.

Worried?

That was impossible.

As long as these women before her didn’t act, that man wouldn’t be threatened.

Airi was confident about this.

The reason she came to this meeting, despite her impatience, was to restrain her sisters and prevent them from doing anything reckless.

Otherwise, Airi would have already left the Demon Realm and returned to the Human Realm.

She didn’t want to find Shien taken away and “protected” by the God Race when she returned.

Her person could only be protected by her.

Others?

Don’t even think about touching a single hair on his head!

“Let me make this clear to you first,” Airi declared.

“That Hero is mine. Don’t even think about doing anything to him.”

These words made the Demon Lords raise their eyebrows.

“What if we insist?” Kamina asked, looking at Airi.

Airi’s expression remained unchanged.

“You can try.”

The atmosphere instantly became dangerous.

Chapter 660: Marriage Alliance

“—”

The expressions of the Demon Lords in the conference room changed.

Except for Airi, Sara, Shafney, Lid, Kamina, and even Millu looked at their youngest sister with surprise. The seductive smile that always adorned Shafney’s face disappeared.

“Little Airi, are you crazy?” Shafney asked incredulously, “You’re willing to become enemies with your own sisters for a Hero?”

This surprised everyone.

Because they were Airi’s sisters, they knew what kind of person she was.

In the past, Airi was a cruel and merciless Demon Lord, countless enemy soldiers dying under her dragon breath, even two Heroes. She was considered one of the most ruthless among the Demon Lords.

Such an Airi was sometimes even cold and indifferent towards her own sisters, only showing rare emotions before the one who had passed away.

And since that person’s death, although Airi restrained her ruthlessness, she also completely closed herself off, only repeating the cycle of sleeping and waking, seemingly isolating herself from everyone.

That’s why the Demon Lords were so surprised when they learned that Airi went to the Human Realm, befriended a young human man, and even favored him, becoming incredibly curious about Shien.

Sara even went to the Human Realm to meet Shien immediately after learning about this. One could imagine how much attention, concern, and curiosity the Demon Lords had towards Shien, who managed to win Airi’s favor.

Until today, they were still wondering why this Hero could make Airi so fond of him.

Was it simply because he was the Hero?

Perhaps this was part of the reason, but it definitely wasn’t the only one.

After all, Heroes were the natural enemies and nemesis of the Demon Race. It was already a miracle that Airi didn’t kill Shien on the spot after learning his identity, and the fact that she favored him instead clearly had a reason.

The Demon Lords were curious about this reason and thus wanted to contact Shien.

Of course, these Demon Lords were mostly reckless, especially Shafney and Kamina, who were both dangerous to Shien. Their interest in him wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

Shafney and Kamina also knew this.

However, they didn’t expect that Airi would go this far for Shien.

“This is a bit much, Airi,” Lid frowned.

“A fight?” Millu seemed to sense the danger, but instead of being afraid, she looked eager.

“…” Sara didn’t say anything, just looking deeply at Airi, seemingly lost in thought.

As for Kamina, she wasn’t angered by Airi’s words.

Because…

“Someone who can make you go this far to protect them, I’m becoming more and more curious about him,” Kamina said casually.

“You…” Airi seemed to want to do something.

But Sara stopped her.

“Alright, little Airi, I won’t allow you to become enemies with your own sisters for an outsider,” Sara looked at Airi, “If you continue like this, I’ll start to suspect that you’ve been turned by the Hero. If that happens, even I might want to do something to Shien Buztout.”

Hearing this, Airi had to shut her mouth.

She knew Sara wasn’t joking.

If Sara truly felt that Shien’s existence would affect the relationship between the Demon Lords, causing internal strife and turning sisters against each other, then she would definitely eliminate Shien at all costs.

That wasn’t something Airi wanted to see.

So, Airi closed her mouth, even her eyes, and said nothing more, acting as if she was no longer involved.

This was also a form of silent protest.

Seeing Airi like this, the Demon Lords exchanged glances.

“Sister Sara, Lid, you’ve both met that Hero, right?” Shafney asked curiously, as if truly interested in Shien, “What kind of person is he?”

At this moment, Shafney was genuinely curious about what kind of Hero could make her usually cold and indifferent younger sister, who wouldn’t even give her sisters face, so infatuated.

Not just Shafney, but even Kamina perked up her ears, showing her interest.

Among the Demon Lords present, only the two of them hadn’t met Shien.

Therefore, they were incredibly curious about what was so special about this Hero.

Sara and Lid thought for a moment, then answered.

“How should I put it?” Lid said, her tone a mix of amusement and strangeness, “I don’t know how to describe him, I can only say that this Hero is different from the Heroes we’ve met before.”

“He is different,” Sara blinked, then smiled wryly, “If you really get to know him, you’ll probably find him very special and interesting. So, I actually understand why little Airi is so fond of him.”

The words of the Moon Demon and the Beast Demon not only intensified the curiosity of the Succubus and the Poison Demon, but also elicited a cheer from the Ghost Demon.

“Shien is very interesting, very fun!”

Millu raised her hands and cheered.

Their attitudes made Shafney and Kamina exchange glances, both seeing the uncontainable excitement in each other’s eyes.

However, they didn’t show it.

Instead, Shafney changed the subject.

“So, big sister, what do you think about this Hero summoning?” Shafney asked Sara, “Could the God Race be behind this?”

“I don’t know,” Sara shook her head, “But after learning about the Hero’s existence, I started investigating, even infiltrating the Divine Realm. I found that almost no one in the God Race knew about the Hero being summoned again.”

“They didn’t know?” Kamina asked doubtfully, “Really?”

“It’s unlikely that no one knew,” Lid said thoughtfully, “When we were in the Elven Homeland, Nadue descended once. I don’t think she came for us.”

The implication was that someone in the God Race definitely noticed the Hero’s existence.

However, their attitude towards the Hero was also somewhat ambiguous.

Sara confirmed this.

“Although my investigation isn’t complete yet, based on my current deduction, I’m eighty percent sure that the new Hero’s summoning was also an accident for the God Race,” Sara said, “Therefore, the God Race doesn’t dare to openly contact the Hero, probably worried about some serious consequences.”

“If that’s the case, then those boring Goddesses of the God Race must also suspect that we, the Demon Race, are behind this, right?” Shafney shrugged her slender shoulders and suddenly asked Airi, “Little Airi, you’ve been with that Hero the longest, haven’t you noticed anything?”

Hearing this, Airi opened her eyes.

“…I’ve also been paying attention to this matter,” Airi said after a moment of silence, “He does seem to be hiding something about his summoning, but he’s also searching for the truth behind it. That’s my feeling.”

These words made the Demon Lords fall silent.

They all had their own thoughts, but didn’t voice them.

Finally, Lid broke the silence.

“Since we’re eighty percent sure this has nothing to do with the God Race, shouldn’t we take some measures?” Lid said, “Otherwise, if we let those little demons continue causing trouble, it might escalate into something big.”

“Indeed,” Shafney chuckled softly, “Although it would be interesting, I don’t want to fight all the time like in the past, not even having time to go out and have some fun.”

“…Second Sister, you should probably stay put,” Kamina said in a low voice, “If you go out, some kings and nobles might go crazy again, offering you their countries and fortunes, even destroying their own territories, just to please you.”

“Do you have any right to say that to me?” Shafney retorted defiantly, “At least when I go out, I only make people go crazy. If you go out, it’s a true disaster.”

“I think both of you should stay put,” Lid said, exasperated, “Let’s quickly find a solution to the current situation.”

“How?” Kamina asked, not very optimistic, “Even if we issue an order and declare the God Race’s innocence, many will probably think that we’re trying to appease them and avoid breaking the peace, deliberately covering up their crimes, right?”

“It’s ultimately a matter of trust,” Shafney said, seemingly bored, “There are many in the Demon Race who dislike the God Race and believe that even a war wouldn’t matter. It’s easy for them to say, since they’re not the ones fighting.”

“That’s not even the main issue,” Lid said in a deep voice, “I’m afraid that some members of the Old Demon Faction might be behind this chaos, inciting it. They would definitely love to see a war between the Demon Race and the God Race.”

Hearing this, the Demon Lords’ faces darkened.

Then, they all looked at Sara.

“Big sister, you decide what to do,” Shafney said.

“You must already have a plan, right, big sister?” Lid agreed.

“I don’t believe you have no ideas,” Kamina said directly.

“Mm-hmm,” Millu nodded repeatedly, seemingly imitating Lilith.

Even Airi looked at Sara.

They all believed that since Sara already knew about Shien’s identity, she must have anticipated all of this and formulated a plan.

After all, Sara was the most intelligent being in this world.

This was what the sisters thought.

In fact, Sara did have a plan.

However, it wasn’t a plan she wanted to execute.

If it were before, she wouldn’t even consider it.

But now…

“Since you favor that Hero so much, you handle this matter,” Sara said, her tone a mix of helplessness and slight jealousy.

She was looking at Airi.

“Me?” Airi was stunned.

“That’s right,” Sara smiled.

In the next second, Sara proposed the plan that would shock the world.

“Marry the Hero.”

Upon hearing these words, silence filled the room.

“Huh?” Airi was dumbfounded.

After a long while, a terrifying dragon’s might suddenly appeared above the Demon Realm.

Lingering for a long time, it didn’t dissipate.
