The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 281: I’m a Dragon Knight Too

”Eh?”

Inside a relatively hot ad dry cave, Airi was lying down on a rock thatʼs been burnt and melted to a polished shine. However, just as she gotten to sleep, her eyes suddenly snapped open as she looked toward a certain direction in extreme surprise.

”This is…”

Airi rubbed her eyes, got up, and stared in that direction. Her expression was one of both shock and joy.

She felt a magic power that was unique to dragons currently rising up constantly like a blazing fire.

Plus, this magic power is extremely powerful too.

”For there to be such a powerful dragon resting in this kind of place?”

Airi indeed got quite a happy surprise.

Only, her own magic power reaction seems to also be right next to that dragonʼs magic power.

That bit of magic power is something that she had set on a certain person.

Since it had shown up there, then that means that person is there.

”What is he doing there?”

Airi was puzzled, but she didnʼt think much of it.

”Letʼs take a look then.”

With that thought in mind, Airi spread out her dragon wings from her back before flying out like a ray of light.

…

At the same time, on a certain mountain path, a number of nobles with Vask at the head was also rushing in that direction with an enormous number of knights and guards.

Their goal is very obvious. They want to find that black dragon and then resume the Demon Refining ritual.

”Roar!”

At that moment, a faint roar reached them, and every one of them heard it.

”Listen!”

”We can already hear that dragonʼs roars!”

”It looks like weʼve caught up!”

The nobles all turned excited at that.

Only Vask stopped moving. He frowned as he listened to that roar.

For some reason, he felt like that dragonʼs roar sounded different from before.

Before, the dragonʼs roars were filled with pain, struggles, and madness, like it was desperately struggling while on its last leg, and that it was only a step or two away from completely falling.

But now, this roar is filled with energy, excitement, and an aura of looking down upon all. Itʼs like it gained a rebirth, like it was about to metamorphosis into something greater.

This gave Vask a bad feeling about it.

”Could something unexpected have happened?”

Vaskʼs frown deepened.

However, with things having reached this point, itʼs already impossible to try to turn back.

”Go! Chase it down!”

Thus, Vask grimaced in determination, gave out his orders, and led everyone to continue on.

…

What no one knew, however, was that as the dragonʼs roar shook the skies, a person and a dragon were having a face to face encounter.

Shien had already gotten off of the black dragonʼs back. He stood before it, raised his head and looked at the dragon with flashing eyes.

The dragon as well, after roaring out in excitement, raised itʼs own body back up and looked down to stare at the tiny human before it with cool and clear draconic eyes.

”————”

A tense atmosphere started settling between the man and dragon.

The black dragon especially. Itʼs already releasing a hint of Dragon Fear.

Even a level 90 human, faced with such Dragon Fear, would likely end up finding it hard to breathe, their heart tense, with sweat pouring down their brow, and too terrified to dare make any sudden motions.

After all, the one standing here is a level 99 dragon.

”Dragons are the king of demonic beasts.”

This is a publicly recognized truth.

Dragons are naturally born with many advantages compared to other demonic beasts.

Their Dragon Breath can piece through all defenses. Practically no one can resist its might.

Their scales are extremely tough. Normal attacks wonʼt be able to break through them at all.

Their claws and fangs are alike the sharpest weapons to exist. They can pierce mountains and sever the earth. Magic weapons crafted from dragon fangs and dragon claws are the highest grade quality items to exist in the world.

Thus, an entire dragonʼs body is basically made of treasures. Theyʼre the very definition of might.

Normally speaking, a dragon will naturally reach over level 80 by adulthood. Before they reach maturity, their level will automatically rise as time progresses even if they donʼt absorb any magic power.

Thus, the moment a dragon reaches maturity, it will definitely have reached over level 88. Coupled with its Dragon Breath, not even a knight order of 10,000 will be able to take it down.

This is also why this black dragon was able to dominate the large sized magic spring of the Ataru Canyon for over 400 years.

With its level so high, and being a dragon at that, even someone like Aldia will end up in a dangerous situation if it attacked in a berserk rage.

Thus, everyone had given up on subjugating this black dragon, allowing it toi dominate this magic spring here.

Now, it had gained even more fortune from a crisis and its level had jumped up to 99 in one go, making it only a single step away from max level. Faced with such a dragon, even Aldia could likely do nothing but attempt to avoid facing it.

And right now, it stood before Shien and was staring at him with a pair of cold draconic eyes. The pressure from that is certain to be terrifying.

Yet, even faced with such a scene, Shien simply stood straight and stared right back unwavering at that black dragon with a somewhat teasing grin on his face.

”Ping…”

In Shienʼs hand, the still unsealed Holy Sword shined with light.

The Hero wielding a Holy Sword faced off against the nearly unbeatable dragon. This scene is something that could definitely enter the history books as a legendary picture.

This scene had continued on for some time.

Until, at a certain moment, the black dragon finally acted.

”Roar!”

With a roar, the black dragonʼs cold eyes finally showed a hint of satisfaction and happiness.

It knows that itʼs the human before it that saved it.

It also knew that the human has a very high leveled [Taming] skill. The magic power he directed into it was something that it craved even now, and naturally, it also gave it a feeling of reliance and closeness toward him.

However, itʼs impossible for it to submit with just that much.

Itʼs a dragon, a near max level unbeatable king of demonic beasts. Unless the other party had the matching qualifications, then thereʼs no way that it would submit!

Even if the magic power that was infused into its body was very comfortable, delicious, and is able to help it grow even stronger, the black dragon will sill refuse to recognize him if the other party is a weak and cowardly minor character.

This is the pride of a dragon. The most basic reservation as a king of demonic beasts.

Truth be told, itʼs also for that reason that, throughout all of history, itʼs extremely rare for a dragon to be tamed. Even wyverns, as demi-dragons with only a bit of dragon blood, are very hard to tame. If that taming master of the Mitra Kingdom didnʼt have the support of his unique skill, then thereʼs no way that he could have tamed so many wyverns.

Given all that, this black dragon is also no ordinary draconic creature. Itʼs a level 99 unbeatable king of demonic beasts, so itʼs even more impossible to tame.

This is true even if one had the max leveled [Taming] skill.

But now, the black dragon recognized Shien as worthy.

He is a human with power that does not loose to itself and is able to face it without fear. Only someone like that is worthy of becoming its master.

Thus, the black dragon finally lowered its head.

Seeing this, Shien broke out in a smile.

In his mind, he shouted out with great satisfaction.

”From today onward, Iʼm a dragon knight too now!”
