The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 40: Chapter 39: House Call Service

Fu Yu was concentrating on cooking ginger and scallion stir-fried crab.

As Yao Shi had said, this dish seemed simple, but in reality, it had many tricks to it.

Like separating the crabs!

Fu Yu chuckled evilly to himself.

It turned out this dish also counted as crab separation.

How was the task evaluated?

Who cares!

Anyway, every time he separated a crab, the task progress notification would sound.

It’s a rare opportunity, just keep going and finish the 100 times requirement of the task first.

”Xiaofu, put aside what you’re doing, you need to head back to Qianlima immediately.”

Fu Yu: ”?!”

Coming again??

Yao Shi looked serious.

Gao Wenjing said that the customer specifically asking for Fu Yu to order was a high-level VIP of the restaurant.

To be classified as a high-level VIP at Qianlima, one has to spend at least over ten thousand yuan and dine at the restaurant more than twenty times within a year.

Such customers always enjoy the highest level of service at the restaurant.

Yao Shi had brought Fu Yu over today to help, which was a private matter.

Although the boss of Qianlima had always been very generous about it, if it affected the business of the restaurant, it wouldn’t be easy to explain afterward.

Yao Shi couldn’t delay and urged Fu Yu, ”I really can’t leave here, you better take a taxi back yourself.”

Fu Yu didn’t even have time to ask in detail before being hurriedly sent off by Yao Shi to take a taxi back to Qianlima.

In the taxi, Fu Yu called Zhao Meng.

”Chef Zhao, what’s going on?”

Zhao Meng was busy as he casually responded, ”Where are you? Hurry up, we’re all waiting for you!”

Fu Yu wanted to ask more, but Zhao Meng quickly instructed, ”Come to the back kitchen to find me when you get back!”

After saying that, Zhao Meng hung up the phone directly.

It was just arriving at peak dining time, and the server brought over a pile of orders.

Zhao Meng was busy with his hands, but internally he was a bit anxious.

That customer seemed to come aggressively, Gao Wenjing, someone as shrewd as her, couldn’t even handle it, not knowing how Fu Yu ended up attracting such a person.

Fu Yu hurried back to the restaurant, jogging over to the back kitchen.

Just as he called out Chef Zhao, he was pulled aside by Zhao Meng, who asked carefully, ”Did you meet that person when you came over just now?”

Fu Yu was stunned: ”Who? No, what exactly happened?”

Zhao Meng looked a bit worried, ”A rich lady, named and specified to find you to order, doesn’t seem like someone easy to deal with!”

Having said that, Zhao Meng glanced at Fu Yu.

The young man indeed looked spirited, handsome, tall, and well-built. While wearing a chef’s uniform, he wasn’t very noticeable, but now changed into casual wear, his temperament instantly improved.

Zhao Meng asked seriously, ”There’s no issue with your personal life, right?”

Fu Yu shook his head.

Zhao Meng was still uneasy and asked again, ”Think again, have you offended any customer at the restaurant, or someone you might have met while off duty?”

Fu Yu thought carefully; his personal life couldn’t be simpler.

At work, he was in the back kitchen; after work, he went to the supermarket, now adding one more activity, cleaning Zhao Meng’s house.

Who could he offend?

Fu Yu confidently shook his head, ”No.”

Getting a definite answer, Zhao Meng felt a sense of relief.

From what he knew of Fu Yu, he indeed wasn’t someone who stirred up trouble.

But Zhao Meng was still a bit uneasy, turning to call out to Gu Yunwu, ”Chef Gu, help me take over the orders, I’m going to the front hall.”

Gu Yunwu was extremely busy but responded shortly, passing on the task to Yao Yihang.

Fu Yu followed Zhao Meng to the front hall.

Gao Wenjing, an experienced supervisor, surely wouldn’t allow a customer to cause a scene in the front hall.

She politely guided the customer to the VIP lounge and sent the steady and reliable food runner, Dai Li, to keep an eye on it.

As a result, when Fu Yu returned, he entered through the back door looking for Zhao Meng.

Dai Li found no sign of him, seeing him now coming from the direction of the back kitchen, hurried to meet him and led him to the VIP lounge.

In the VIP lounge, Gao Wenjing was endlessly flattering the customer with good tea and sweet talk.

But the customer wasn’t in the mood to pay her much attention.

If she spoke, it was to urge and ask when Chef Fu would be able to come over.

Gao Wenjing could only choose pleasant words, ”Chef Fu went to a different restaurant with our head chef to provide support, he won’t be back immediately, perhaps you could come next time? Or maybe you can try Chef Gu’s skills, Chef Gu is one of our restaurant’s top chefs...”

The customer immediately frowned, ”I’m looking for Chef Fu...”

Gao Wenjing was mentally exhausted, thinking the customer was being unreasonable, likely interested in Fu Yu’s handsome face, using the guise of ordering to seek someone, while simultaneously anxious for Fu Yu’s return.

With so much happening in the front hall, as the supervisor, she was stuck here unable to leave.

As the two parties were at an impasse, Fu Yu followed Zhao Meng into the lounge.

Seeing Fu Yu enter the room, the middle-aged lady instantly lit up, quickly stood up from her chair, and warmly greeted, ”Oh, Chef Fu, you’re finally back!”

Fu Yu recognized the person and was stunned.

It was the customer who previously ordered the lobster with butter sauce.

The middle-aged lady was dressed with jewels and finery, her previously stern face now blossoming into a radiant smile.

She extended her hand to Fu Yu, acting as if they were close acquaintances.

Fu Yu, still baffled, shook her hand.

Standing beside them, Gao Wenjing watched the middle-aged lady and Fu Yu shake hands with a knowing look in her eyes.

As expected!!

She knew it!!

As her spirit of gossip burned brightly, Gao Wenjing finally felt relieved at last.

Fortunately, as long as she wasn’t here to cause trouble or smash the place, everything else could be negotiated...

After shaking hands with the middle-aged lady, Fu Yu asked, ”I heard you wanted to order something from me?”

The middle-aged lady quickly said, ”Chef Fu, here’s the thing, I have a friend who wants to meet her future in-laws for a meal, but her in-laws have mobility issues and can’t travel far, so they want to host the meal at home. She urgently needs a chef with great skills to come over, and I recommended you to her.”

Fu Yu was somewhat surprised, but still said truthfully, ”I’m sorry, I still need to work, so I probably don’t have the time to go.”

The middle-aged lady quickly said, ”You don’t need to worry about that, I can follow the proper procedures and hire you for house service.”

Following procedures, it’s not impossible!

Qianlima has always had this policy.

But usually, the ones being hired for house service are head chefs like Chef Yao, or at least someone like Zhao Meng or Gu Yunwu, at an executive chef level.

Fu Yu was a bit hesitant.

He wasn’t even a full-time chef yet.

Just a junior kitchen worker.

The boss might not approve?

After a brief hesitation, Fu Yu decisively refused, ”Sorry, I’m not experienced enough in my job yet to offer external house service.”

The middle-aged lady was taken aback.

Isn’t house service usually something chefs are eager to do?

After all, customers who can afford house service for a chef likely don’t hurt for money, and the service fee is usually quite generous.

However, the middle-aged lady knew she had to bring Fu Yu back today, as she had already spoken highly of him.

So she patiently said, ”You don’t need to worry about this, I can speak with your boss. You might not know, but my husband is an old friend of your boss.”

Fu Yu: ”...Oh!”

The middle-aged lady also added, ”Moreover, my friend is quite generous, offering a service fee of five thousand yuan.”

Fu Yu: ”...Wow!”

Goodness!

A service fee of 5000 yuan!!

Cooking one meal for the equivalent of two months’ salary!

Gao Wenjing suddenly said, ”Chef Fu, if you can, you should agree. This customer is genuinely inviting you over, it’s also a sign of trust in you.”

Fu Yu: ”...”

Zhao Meng then also said, ”Fu Yu, take the job, I’ll go with you to assist. Anyways, it’s the morning shift today, and there’s nothing much going on in the evening.”

With Zhao Meng approving and even volunteering to go and assist, Fu Yu immediately felt reassured,

Fu Yu nodded, ”Alright, do you know what day your friend’s gathering is scheduled for?”

The middle-aged lady beamed with joy and quickly replied, ”It’s tonight, I’ve parked my car outside, if you’re available, we can head over anytime.”

Behind them, Zhao Meng and Gao Wenjing exchanged a glance.

Zhao Meng: Five thousand yuan service fee! Damn! Two thousand more than me!!

Gao Wenjing: Be content, even with your tricks, painting yourself green wouldn’t work!! Do you really think they came for the culinary skills? They’re clearly here for the looks!
