Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1147: Chapter 939: Kill or Not, Just Make It Quick

Edna could completely understand why her white dragon friend was so flustered, even to the point of experimenting with her own claws… If Elvia were acting normal, she would definitely be the one tricking others into testing if it hurts.

The old saying goes, the longer you live, the more likely you are to experience events that you would think were fabricated rumors upon hearing… But Edna truly feels that the longer-lived individuals, witnessing the way Lansendel and Shaer interact, would only collapse.

She feels the shards in her mind have fused part of themselves out of fear because of this.

Unfortunately, those shards are useless.

Edna carefully pondered the relationships among the gods brought to her by these shards, and still felt that her black-eyed teacher’s account was more accurate.

Just like the Shaer in those silly memories… “Madwoman” doesn’t even begin to describe her impression of Shaer.

Isn’t that character an amalgamation of Amborriga Marla and Talos?

Yet, the Shaer recognized by Black Eye and the one before her seem alike: though intent on destroying the world, Shaer is actually a very cautious goddess and won’t easily engage anyone unless she’s certain she can win, even if her foe is present… Apart from Celene.

Moreover, Shaer’s goals are so grand that amidst the evil god system, she tends to be communicable; as long as the Moon Maiden isn’t brought out to provoke, after sufficient benefits, Shaer need not drive you to your death.

Actually, compared to the somewhat reckless Goddess of the Silvermoon, Shaer is easier to communicate with… She openly abides by AO’s instructions.

Although the Goddess of Magic and the Maiden of the Moon have close relations, Black Eye specially emphasized that, regardless of any identity, even if one day you become Mystra’s lesser god, it is crucial never to get entangled in the struggle between the twin goddesses.

The matters between the two must be resolved by themselves.

Don’t assume that aiding the Maiden of the Moon in dealing with Shaer will result in her gratitude… You may assist her, like Black Eye once helped Suren lead Shaer into a trap, thus receiving substantial rewards.

But never take action yourself… More than one demigod vanished inexplicably because of it.

Though the twin goddesses’ teachings go overboard, they do contain a slightly accurate notion… Between the twin goddesses lies their specific connection, facilitating mutual understanding without much dialogue.

So, just watch them fight to the death—neither will actually perish.

If Celene needs help, lend a hand, but definitely don’t interfere with anything else.

The Shaer portrayed by Black Eye is cold-hearted, sinister, and tactically outstanding, apart from the endless struggle with Celene, everything else is not an issue… Thus, even though the Lady of the Night nearly caused Toril’s demise multiple times, Toril’s gods, especially AO, harbor no animosity towards her.

After all, when it comes to Shaer’s luck, how should one say… Despite countless calculations, it always unwinds due to a small character’s sudden insight.

The trouble she causes is not even half as severe as Lansendel’s!

Even Amanata created more crises than her.

So Edna, even seeing the amicable relations between the Undead Tribe and Shaer Elector, didn’t display any doubt.

Having been together for so long, she of course understands that the Undead Tribe holds no interest in Toril’s internal disputes beyond watching for entertainment; even knowing that Shaer has apocalyptic tendencies doesn’t affect their collaboration.

However, the world loves delivering successive blows.

After experiencing previous soul shocks, Edna always thought nothing could shake her… Until she heard Shaer’s words.

She always knew Agleya City attracts significant attention from Celene… The frequent appearances of Lady Celene at the Floating Castle have long ceased to be a secret.

And after knowing this, hearing the communication between Shaer and Lansendel, Edna felt exhausted both physically and mentally… Shaer’s intimacy while speaking of Hill was so apparent! For such relaxed lines, there must have been at least ten or eight encounters.

What does this imply, smart Edna surely figured out… The fight to the death between the twins outside may not be entirely genuine, but whether they absolutely want each other dead is uncertain.

After all, anyone slightly aware of Toril’s origins would know, they hardly can die, at most suffer grievous injuries.

Even losing divinity is no consequence? A dead Goddess of Magic could still be totally revived!

Edna curled her lips into a sardonic smile, unsure at whom it was directed.

What could these two be discussing when together?

Could it be in Hill’s Floating Castle summarizing their respective results to compare who won more?

Tsk, if Black Eye could have lived till now, he might also have been utterly shocked.

But Black Eye… At least part of his awareness and understanding is accurate!

Edna couldn’t help but gently knock her slightly tilted head with her fist, earnestly wishing to knock the water out from her head to let it flow out through an ear.

No wonder it can get slaughtered in its own Divine Kingdom–what are these memories!

Not a single reliable one!

Edna gently ground her teeth and decided to reorganize those muddled memories following Black Eye’s teachings… At least figure out who taught that fool these god system insights!

Why does she always believe what others say so easily? Yet when Azuth tells her something, she doesn’t listen?

Is it just because that old man keeps reminiscing about the former Mystra in front of her? He doesn’t plan to make her the second Black Eye!

Edna feels herself getting more and more angry… She should just consider herself lucky like the previous two did, and think of it as receiving a soul shard from some deity!

How could she be so stupid, really~

Back when Black Eye gained power, he didn’t even have any knowledge!

Even though he used somewhat extreme methods, at least every decision came from himself, and his views on matters, people, and gods might be biased, but at least there were accurate parts.

Look at the kind of junk knowledge in her memories!

Shaer is a madwoman who can’t understand human speech and wants to destroy everything she sees, and Celene is a fool who often gets duped… Even Lansendel, in her memory, is a mentally unstable guy!

Hehe~ Cyric, now there’s a pure mad fool, an evil person who drove himself insane, just fight him on sight.

With her view on the Toril Gods and her unguarded personality, which deity wouldn’t be annoyed by her?

No wonder she caused so much chaos before… The conflict between Hill and Kelben, why Coron had a falling out with Mystra, as a member of Agleya’s forces, Edna certainly learned something.

Being gullible is such a big problem!

Edna curled her lips, thankfully, she’s not that stupid.

“Edna.” Elvia said with a trembling voice, “I’m truly glad I’ve always been polite to that Lord Hill, even handed over the tribe… If we had chosen to go against him, wouldn’t the White Dragons be wiped out?”

“Uh…” Edna helplessly patted the White Dragon Queen’s head, “Hill has always chosen defense and counterattacks; I really don’t think the White Dragons would all come out to find trouble with him, at most you and Arausato would be doomed.”

The White Dragon Queen couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

Then they heard Leonard’s voice shaking even more: “Ed… Edna, am I really not dreaming? Shaer and Lansendel chatting happily isn’t my imagination?”

“Josanie, bite him.” Elvia said fiercely, “Did he treat my words like the wind at his ears?”

“Nope.” The Fairy Dragon said with a mischievous smile, “Haven’t seen Leon so silly for many years!”

The White Dragon Queen couldn’t resist turning her head to look: “You really are a great partner!”

“I think so too!” Josanie flapped her butterfly wings up and down.

The commotion around cleared Leonard’s head a bit: “Agleya… really is a magical place.”

Edna glanced sideways at her Half-Elf friend: Hope that when you get to Agleya and feel that abundant Power of the Silvermoon, you won’t go crazy… Ah! Never mind, Leon’s real brother is there!

Leon’s real brother is actually a bit crazy too… He finally realized that Agleya was hosting Celene, Shaer, and Lansendel all at once!

The Floating Castle didn’t explode?

Lynn stood at the door of the Alchemy Hall, looking up at the sky… His dear friend, the defensive power is truly impressive!

Hill inside the Floating Castle sighed silently.

He knows that the matter of his place becoming a godly tea party is hard to conceal now… Doesn’t know whether the relatively good relation ones like Tyr and Miliel will drop by for a visit, as for Coron, he surely still prefers the Alchemy Hall.

The ones causing the current situation, the Great Peacock and the Dark Night Beauty, are still conversing quietly… Looks harmonious on the surface, but every sentence hides a pit.

Lansendel may not care about the divine artifact being taken by Shaer, but he cares about how using these two artifacts would inevitably sacrifice kind mages viciously… Among his Dawn Believers, kind mages are definitely numerous.

Especially the Chosen… If Shaer acts, all the Chosen are in danger.

How could the Goddess of the Night possibly constrain her actions? Why can’t she kill Lansendel’s people!

If she opens this door, Shaer believes Celene, who’s been watching all along, would definitely rush down asking for the same treatment!

She’s not crazy, how could that be possible?

Asdimos, standing in the corner, wore an expression of confusion.

He understood the intent behind the words between these two deities, but what he couldn’t grasp was, under normal circumstances, at this point, shouldn’t they have started fighting already?

Lansendel heard Shaer’s tone that even if it’s your believers, kills them when necessary, shouldn’t he lash out?

He is very aware that the reason he’s still alive is that these two deities need a talk excuse… but he doesn’t think he’s fortunate enough to be the reason for them not fighting.

Can they just get it over with!

Bound all over, even finding self-destruction difficult, the Sorcerer is getting nervous.
