Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 836: Chapter 632 Preparing for Hill’s Trip to Haidong Province

Hill, who had temporarily calmed the little fairies, sat with their curious eyes on the port’s scenery from the terrace.

There were many people at the port, and they seemed very well-trained. Perhaps because this place belonged to the officials, these people appeared tall and robust.

Although their black short-sleeved robes weren’t as exquisitely made or brightly colored as An Yanfei’s blue ones, they did wear similar styles. The robes’ hems were just shorter, only reaching halfway down their thighs.

But Hill could tell that even though their status might not be high at the port, they all wore expressions of high spirits, and didn’t seem to feel inferior while handling goods.

Especially when facing those foreign merchants, these laborers wore an air of indifference, likely because they were at the bottom rung of the professionals. Hill observed their footsteps; they resembled the martial artists from the Ferun Great Land.

No matter how low the level of the professionals, once they could emerge from the apprentice rank, their identity and status would be somewhat different. If it weren’t an official stronghold of the Shulong, it would be impossible for even box-carrying laborers to be professionals.

These people worked for their country rather than for these foreign merchants, and their usual benefits were undoubtedly high, so they didn’t need to rely on merchants’ tips for a living.

Though they did accept the merchants’ smiling gratuities, this money should just be icing on the cake rather than a necessity. As a result, even when Shulong people bent over to carry boxes, their heads were held high with pride.

Hill quietly watched the port below. Those captains brave enough to venture into the ocean couldn’t be weaklings, and not everyone could own a magic ship. Yet, every captain treaded carefully around these low-rank warriors, eagerly offering a few gold coins before asking any questions.

And this was even the VIP port.

Hill looked up into the distance, where the port’s outermost was filled with merchants lining up to leave. Everyone behaved very orderly, and even under the menacing gaze of the rows of knights, no one showed any discontent.

Hill saw the guy suspected to be a slave merchant. He was still dressed in bright colors, but his demeanor was entirely different, filled with cautious anxiety, afraid of someone causing trouble.

Shulong must also have certain requirements for these merchants’ factions. For someone as sensitive as Hill, his instincts could tell which of those before him were good or evil. Those with no feeling at all were usually neutral.

Hence, he could see that those with solemn expressions and tense looks mostly had something wrong, while those appearing relaxed and at ease were mostly assured they’d not be stopped at the port and could leisurely proceed to the island or even inland.

At least for now, this great eastern country gave Hill a very good impression.

Perhaps it was because unless angering both Heaven and Earth, the Shulong Empire’s Heavenly Court had no interest in managing Lower Realm affairs. Instead, their greatest demand from the Lower Realm was those sages with high virtues, to supplement the number of little spirits in the Heavenly Court.

The sunlit port buildings intrigued the little fairies, who were used to seeing the western stone houses every year. A few domesticated brown immortals, who were usually shy, even approached Hill themselves, hoping he’d take them along when heading inland.

For these fairies, who take pride in household chores, these never-before-seen houses held great allure.

Hill, of course, agreed.

Though the domesticated brown immortals were uglier than the so-called domesticated little spirits... they were really well-behaved! Even though most places in Hill’s estate didn’t need cleaning, they still patrolled the courtyard and house daily, trying to tidy up any dust before Hill’s puppets could find it.

Though the number of little fairies was quite large, the pockets of that garment had been expanded with Space Crystal powder, allowing them to fit these hundreds of little creatures without any issue.

Vila started joyfully arranging how to divide the twelve pockets, while a chattering group of little fairies surrounded her, discussing who liked to be higher and who liked it lower.

Hill glanced at Oberon sitting in the corner, watching with a gentle smile on his always-melancholic face.

Oberon had always tried to get Vila to handle the internal relationships among the fairies, including those tribesmen who had returned with him from the Supreme Forest. He had all of them managed by Vila.

Moreover, Hill could see that the fairies under him treated Vila with great respect. It’s worth noting that these male beast fairies even somewhat disdained that Little Fairy Queen.

In a certain sense, although there weren’t many types and numbers of little fairies, Vila was actually forming a small Fairy Court.

If Vila brought these little fairies to Teraxil, with the current foundation, she might indeed condense a crown.

This Lord of Beasts seemingly had no aspirations of rising himself, wholeheartedly hoping that his beloved young daughter would succeed.

Hill smiled slightly, nodding towards the watching Oberon. It was precisely because of his overflowing paternal love that Hill was willing to come forward and protect this Little Elf God.

When List arrived, it was almost with all eyes on him, the little fairies staring intently.

They knew very well that the negotiation results of this Tower Spirit would be the main factor deciding when they could go ashore.

Being stared at made List feel creepy. What were these little fairies up to?

Had they hidden something again? But Hill had already ordered them not to mess around in the warehouse. Could it be they switched the sugar and salt jars in the kitchen again?

Or placed a bucket over a door? Or used those nearly invisible fine threads on the ground, attempting to trip up the passing Life Golem?

Hill wasn’t demanding they stop doing it anymore, was he?

The little fairies love Hill dearly, so they often try to show a more restrained side in front of him, hoping he’ll see their adorable nature. But once they’re away from Hill, these tiny creatures truly live up to the nickname ’little demons’.

They don’t want Hill to dislike them, so whenever List discovers one of their pranks, these mischievous little ones immediately stop—but they’ve done it far too many times.

If List weren’t a Tower Spirit able to create countless clones and monitor every space, he would’ve long been exhausted by them.

Hill’s words quickly snapped this Tower Spirit back from his wandering thoughts: ”The Shulong Empire doesn’t seem very welcoming to fairies; they can only go out with me.”

”I promised to take them out with me. How’s the business dialogue going?”

List chuckled knowingly, ”It’s great. The exchanged treasures can stack the warehouse inside the Magic Tower.”

”Are you planning to pick them up yourself at Haidong Province’s Treasure Pavilion, or wait for them to deliver?”

”Their ship... Should be able to take me inland, right?” Hill mused for a bit before deciding amidst the laughter of little fairies around him, ”Well, I don’t really want to board that passenger ship.”

”Go tell that Mr. An merchant that I’ll directly bring the goods we agreed on to their place to trade, and kindly ask them to give me a ride.”

List nodded, ”Alright, the finalized trading list is on the study desk. It would be good for you to take a glance at it.”

”Then you and Purwell wait for me here.” Hill glances at the crowds at the port, ”As for the Shulong side, whether things are actually peaceful here, I’m not entirely certain.”

”But here at the port, as long as the Shulong Empire wishes to present its grandeur, nothing will happen.”

Purwell doesn’t really care about that; he can soar through the universe, yet is most fond of the sea, floating in water for years without moving wouldn’t bother him at all.

Not to mention he still has List and a bunch of puppets accompanying him!

List went to inform An Ran of Hill’s decision.

Hill descended from the terrace, preparing to wash up and change clothes.

”Can I go too?” Oberon called after Hill, ”Should I stay here?”

”Wherever I can go, you can go.” Hill said indifferently, ”No need to worry; staying here is less safe. Who knows if the Young Queen will suddenly decide to visit the Shulong Empire on a whim.”

Though even if she came, Ao Qing alone could send her away instantly, but the trouble caused might lead to Hill’s expulsion from the empire.

Oberon rarely showed such a delighted expression; it seemed he really wanted to see the scenery of the Eastern continent.

When Hill came out having changed, the little fairies had already picked out the pockets they wanted to stay in.

Hill struggled to maintain composure.

The little fairies’ clothes had wrinkled, their striving-to-remain-calm faces had turned a bit bluish-purple.

Even those Little Flower Fairies were in disarray, with their little flower bud hairstyles completely falling apart.

Anyone could tell that these little fairies had, for once, decided not to argue but to fight barehanded to resolve things quickly.

Hill pretended not to care as he donned his robe: the space inside was large enough, allowing them to fix themselves amid their scrambles.

”Sir.” List appeared, then hesitated, seeing the state of these little fairies.

Hill watched List’s face light up, and sighed, seeing List’s barely concealed schadenfreude. Clearly, these little fairies have given his Tower Spirit a lot of trouble.

”How did An Ran respond?” Hill quickly stopped List’s gloating. He didn’t want to comfort a frantic bunch of fairies before leaving.

”They can take you directly to the Haidong Provincial Capital, but you can only bring 15 followers.” List thought for a moment, ”Mostly take Life Golems then. And bring six Knight Puppets. They’re bigger and more imposing, which could save a lot of hassle.”

Hill agreed without concern.

When Hill left Purwell, he found those two Mr. An fellows already waiting for him at the dock.
