Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 799: Chapter 596: The Conspiracy After the Slave Trade

Looking at the ship’s cabin below the deck, Hill couldn’t help but click his tongue.

Creatures like half-succubi indeed have rather debauched thoughts.

The slaves below, regardless of gender, were bound in a peculiar position. Only a few, who were exceptionally good-looking, were probably hung on iron frames with ropes by that half-succubus, out of sheer boredom and a desire to train them.

There were a few elves inside; Hill had just heard a desperate cry from one of them.

Hill wasn’t sure if they were half-elves, but as long as he heard the Elvish language, it was enough reason for him to justify launching an attack.

The port’s administrator seemed to be running over with his subordinates.

Hill turned around to take a look.

The red-robed merchant, who clearly understood the art of rising and receding as circumstances required, bowed deeply to Hill, who was floating in mid-air: ”Honorable Archmage, I wonder if we have the honor of doing something for you.”

Hill nodded slightly, ”Release them.”

Then he waved his magic wand, sending a large fireball to each of the sailors hiding in the shadows.

Hill would never conduct any kind of trial to see if these people had any dark past that forced them under the half-succubus’s protection, nor would he care about how much of a hardship-filled past they had that might warrant another chance at life.

He knew very well what kind of creature a half-succubus is; anyone with even a shred of goodwill would only be bound on those iron frames.

Hill glanced at the ones who were released.

No matter what race, anyone who could catch a half-succubus’s eye would have a certain charm. He turned to the merchant and asked, ”Where was that half-succubus planning to sell these people to?”

”Honorable Archmage, all we know is that every twenty years, she passes by Dragon Rock Star with a batch of goods, but her strength is absolutely not something we ordinary merchants can contend with.

In the past... there were 16 major merchants on Dragon Rock Star, but those with courage have all vanished along with their families.”

He lowered his head, his tone humble but his stance firm, as they did not wish to get involved in any conflicts now.

Hill furrowed his brows, ”Tom can’t possibly ignore the devout prayers of his followers.”

”Archmage, as long as one is a merchant, they cannot be absolutely devout to any deity.” The merchant’s tone had a hint of helplessness, ”To become the top-tier merchant, our most devout faith... will only be in the enchanting jingles of gold coins.

Tom admitting that we are his followers is already the best reward he could give us; no one dares to ask for more.”

Hill finally understood a bit of the ecology here on Dragon Rock Star.

Tom’s followers... sometimes it’s just an adjective, merely proving they are indeed orderly good, and that loyal God, who rarely compromises, also made a rare soft-hearted moment.

He couldn’t help but press his forehead: during the Years of Turmoil when all gods fell to Toril, the merchant families on Dragon Rock Star indeed gave up on that trading Goddess Valkin and changed their faith, yet they held their ground on their bottom line.

So this should be Tom’s reward to them.

This time, Hill was presumptuous.

He really did not expect that Tom, who always acted super rigidly on Toril, would be so reasonable outside the planet.

Hill glanced at the fearful slaves; he couldn’t possibly take them to the Stellar Realm.

”I have some matters and need to visit the Stellar Realm.” Hill slowly said to the outstanding merchant, ”I remember Dragon Rock Star has an inn, please take care of them for half a month temporarily, here is the payment.”

Hill tossed a money pouch to him.

The red-robed merchant, who kept his head down all the while, as he said, was extremely sensitive to the sound of coins. Without lifting his head, his hands deftly caught the pouch.

There were a full 500 gold coins in it, enough for these more than 20 slaves to live for half a year even with Dragon Rock Star’s high cost of living.

”I have provided ample remuneration.” Hill said word by word.

”Dragon Rock Star will absolutely serve you wholeheartedly.” The merchant immediately responded, ”Before you return, I will certainly ensure they live safely and healthily, not one will be missing.”

Hill sneered, ”I think no one would wish to see my fire column again.”

He stated solemnly, ”If one is missing, I absolutely don’t mind setting the entire Dragon Rock Star ablaze.”

Hill didn’t say much to those slaves but when the obviously different-ranked male elf among them staggered to stand, Hill told them in Elvish to wait for him on Dragon Rock Star for a while, he would try to come back early to send them back to Toril.

The male elf quickly understood he was rescued by a fellow.

Then he turned around and dashed into the rear cabin, into that clearly very luxurious bright pink bedroom.

Hill had actually always looked away from that slightly nauseating bedroom; after seeing that thing, he decided he would never say Barbie pink was quite adorable again.

But judging by that elf’s reaction, Hill pursed his lips; his adventure experience was still too little.

The elf came out holding a large chest: ”Archmage, this is all the property of that slave trader, please keep it safe.”

Hill waved his hand to take the chest, and put it away without even looking: ”I will try to come back soon, you all take care of your health first.”

If it weren’t for that Half-Succubus wanting to sell them at a good price, these elves wouldn’t just have so much energy left now. But they have still suffered considerable damage and need a few years to recover properly, otherwise it could affect their lifespan.

Hill did not do anything else, he just tossed a small pouch of Gold Coins to the elf as a reward.

He behaved very coldly, causing those among the slaves who had been trying to win his sympathy to dejectedly follow behind the merchant.

Hill returned to his Magic Ship, and as he was about to leave directly, he received a product catalog from Dragon Rock Star.

This catalog was a small Strange Object connected to the trading board in Dragon Rock Star’s hall, typically those Magical Ship Captains with significant transaction volumes could obtain one.

Of course, those with powerful strength could too. This was the reason that slave trader didn’t even need to leave the ship. Whatever she wanted, she could just confirm it in the catalog, and have it delivered directly.

This typical cash on delivery transaction relies on Dragon Rock Star as an intermediary’s honesty and reliability. Even for those in the Evil Faction, as long as they abide by the rules, they will be offered some services, but absolutely not allowed to enter the port.

Hill shook his head helplessly, glanced at the catalog, and then directed the Magic Ship towards the Stellar Realm.

In his territory, while Half-Demons and the like weren’t allowed to appear, those with less intense evil auras were permitted into the shopping street.

Dragon Rock Star had just done a bit more than this, just enough to cross Hill’s bottom line, though in Toril, it didn’t really amount to much.

In many people’s eyes, Hill was actually seen as meddlesome.

Although Hill appeared so powerful, at that time, he also sensed much hostility, which disappeared instantly when he spoke to the elves alone.

This was the benefit left by the ancestors of the elves who used their iron-blooded sacrifice for their descendants. Everyone understood, if you capture elves and make them slaves, it’s best not to be discovered by any elf, or it would be an endless pursuit.

If the elves were sure they couldn’t save their clansmen, the final solution would be to kill them and then swear a blood oath, spending the rest of their lives hunting those daring to trade elves, even demons alike.

And the elves’ blood oath pursuit is according to blood relations—if the ancestors committed sins, even if there were secretly left behind descendants, as soon as they were discovered by the elves, they would be hunted to death.

That kind of blood oath... can be felt by all elves, including Dark Elves.

They might strip the skin off their white-skinned kin, but they would also unexpectedly kill and humiliate those who enslave them, whether humans or demons.

This meant that in the Abyss where the Evil Faction resided, one could not guarantee the safety of oneself or one’s family.

Of course, those powerful enough to compel the Dark Elves to suppress their nature would step back, but how many such beings would still be interested in slaves?

They already have numerous willing followers in their grasp, there’s no need to go through such trouble.

Freedom is Coron’s deepest obsession planted in the Elven Bloodline.

Even enslaved elves, being fitted with Anti-Magic Circles, would seize any opportunity to take their lives and swear blood oaths.

Choosing elf slaves is no ordinary adventure.

Therefore, those debauched individuals usually interested in elves mostly opt for Half-Elf slaves, whose blood isn’t pure enough to invoke such blood oaths.

Of course, there are always unlucky ones who face hard knocks, and even Half-Elf slaves often find half of the elves willing to rescue them.

Humans truly capable of acquiring elves generally made them swear a follower’s oath. While binding, followers can refuse unreasonable demands.

Elves can’t be brainwashed; they have inherited memories.

Hill directly transferred several letters from the large chest into his pendant, which the male elf had specially marked out with several thin Gold Bars.

Hill recognized the symbol; it was the elves’ danger warning sign to signal other companions when in crisis.

Although unsure of whom he was guarding against, Hill decided not to look at them until returning to Toril.

Colliding a piece of spiritual power into the box inside the storage ring, making everything inside even more chaotic, Hill suddenly felt as if he had hit the jackpot.

That male elf was probably caught just because he was investigating this Half-Succubus.

Those other race slaves clearly showed they were very well-trained.

Hill nonchalantly looked at the storage ring on his hand, filled mostly with Gold Coins, Gold Bars, and jewels, as well as several pieces of Mithril and some Mithril. Hope anyone capable of seeing through it isn’t tempted to rob it.

Proficiency in Prophecy doesn’t guarantee combat skills, and Hill is quite furious right now!
