Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 751: Chapter 550: Timely Rain ’Young Master

Hill remembered telling Lansendel before he left to post an adventurer’s task.

The Dawn Temple is nothing else if not wealthy; otherwise, Lansendel’s sumptuous temples could never have been built.

It is known that Lansendel always chooses tricky locations for his temples.

Therefore, his church has a complete range of master architects; after all, ordinary people simply can’t enter such ghastly places.

Thus, they often take on architectural design tasks, and many of Toril’s well-known, extravagant buildings are the works of the Dawn Church’s followers.

Wait, Hill suddenly hesitated, could it be that his constant inability to despise Lansendel stemmed from the abundance of architects and planners in his church?

Moreover, these masters, forced by Lansendel the foolish client, are very adept at erecting a gorgeous temple or spire in nooks or extremely dangerous locations.

Often, his demands were to build the most eye-catching sacred site of Dawn in the most hazardous crossfire zones like the Middle East.

Therefore, these noble-born grand architects of the Dawn Church are very aware of how to ensure the safety of a structure beneath its luxurious facade, hence it’s normal for them to be popular in places like Toril.

However, these master architects usually do not undertake routine tasks; it’s the young and enthusiastic, who are bold and forge ahead like their Main God, that cause turmoil all over the world.

So, do they intend to rely on their own abilities to get the correct news from the Undead Tribe rather than publish a task by the book?

Lansendel’s followers always fancy whimsical ideas.

Many of Lansendel’s half-baked ideas are a product of their impulsive brainstorming.

While most normal people would think they’re crazy, Lansendel would find them perfect, thinking that such acts befit a magnificent deity like himself.

Thus, regarding who’s scamming who between him and his followers, it’s hard to say, as Lansendel’s Divine Kingdom is always overcrowded.

Hill looked down for a while, noting that the Undead who were aimlessly wandering around the town, instead of building a city, were generally those failing to receive construction-related tasks.

In other words, they hadn’t thought of abiding by the rules at all, even though they knew they were constantly under the surveillance of the Temporal Artifact; they wished to build temples equivalent to latrines, the type that wouldn’t change their original intent even after being struck by lightning countless times.

Indeed, Lansendel’s believers are a species inherently lacking a sense of crisis!

Even Hill, well-acquainted with the Undead Tribe, would not want to deal with such characters.

Watching them exchanging pleasant laughs and greetings as they took their seats at the roadside café terrace, Hill silently offered them his sympathy.

Then he called Marsha over to stay on standby for any intervention.

The people of the Dawn Church have always taken things like dignity seriously—ah, the Chuunibyou teenagers! Only they would cling to the creed, ”Honor is my life.”

Having managed a good relationship with Toril’s three biggest headaches—Lansendel, Suren, and Shaer—Hill certainly didn’t wish to become adversaries just yet.

But he was still willing to let them suffer a loss; otherwise, these folks would not focus on their tasks seriously, always thinking of conjuring some tricks.

It took less than ten minutes for those idiots from the Dawn Church to offer an exorbitant initial fee.

Hill watched the Undead counting Gold Coins and exchanging glances, already matching them with a tune: the second fool from the rich dog owner’s family, work harder to squeeze out more~

Marsha’s figure had appeared in the café, ready to step out and put a stop to this indirect extortion anytime.

However, Hill soon realized that he might not need to intervene.

A group of little short legs approached, with the most active and carefree one being the Young Master, happily rolling up his sleeves and running over: It was evident that he intended to snatch the random task.

Clearly, even the Young Master known for his unique artistic insights, had been barred from architectural tasks.

The followers of the Dawn Church, surrounded by a group of dwarfs, did not show dissatisfaction as they have always been kind to children.

And the Young Master, who often easily bonds with simple-minded individuals, was getting along swimmingly in no time.

The few from the Dawn Church soon gave up on the previous few who spoke unclearly and were always holding back information, becoming chummy with the Young Master.

Who knows what they discussed, but the jubilant Young Master pulled them straight into the Alchemy Hall.

Knowing Hill’s interest in the matter, Marsha quickly came over to report.

What they discussed with the Young Master was unclear, but they went directly into another deity’s Divine Realm and posted a task there.

The task reward was also very generous; Hill felt it a pity that Terry didn’t earn a commission from it.

Terry now had a task tablet where many tasks could be obtained, and Terry would receive one-tenth of the task reward, in Gold Coins, which he could settle daily at the Alchemy Square’s task hall.

Hill noticed that most tasks at Terry’s were about material collection, similar to Hill’s own initial experience—the Temporal Artifact also needed various books from Toril.

Although Coron provided plenty of information, his standards were too high. William and the God of Time and Space preferred to examine the preferences of the lower strata.

It’s the lower limit that represents the cognitive level of ordinary people.

Then came tasks involving different materials and Strange Objects, which were obviously the demands of the God of Time and Space.

His research and manufacturing skills seemed to be getting higher and higher.

Hill, looking at the streaks of golden light spreading across the undead constructions as the tasks were completed, deeply understood this.

When he left Teraxil, the control cores didn’t extend automatically! Someone had to manually inscribe a Divine Array to connect new areas to the original control array.

It’s already this strong now!

However, Hill listened to the task rewards reported by Marsha with a somewhat odd mood, not quite understanding what these guys were thinking.

If they released tasks on Terry’s side, just a few gold coins would suffice.

Now, it wasn’t just several times the money, but also a lot of unique materials from the Dawn Temple were given.

The happiness of a Chuunibyou Teenager, he really couldn’t comprehend!

Did this mean that they were putting in their own efforts rather than following orders?

Hill contemplated for a while but still had Marsha inform ’Snow Cloud Peak’. The young master was also uncontrollable, mixing with the people of the Lord of Dawn for too long, it was uncertain what problems could arise.

If they wanted to do something together, Hill wasn’t really interested in interfering. After all, the Dawn Church always exhausted itself when it caused trouble, and the young masters couldn’t die.

But it was necessary to control the direction and intensity, not to drag the allies down with them.

The undead tribe was quick to act; by the Dawn of the next day, they had nearly completed the task.

Hill felt that they must have been prepared in advance, carrying the building materials with them, and all they needed to do was assemble them.

However, a large number of plant seeds that had been sown only just sprouted at Dawn.

Some Druids appeared among the undead tribe but they seemed only capable of healing and controlling plants.

The wild Druids capable of shapeshifting into animals were nowhere to be seen.

William was quite clear-headed in this respect, certainly not adding such big trouble for himself.

Though these Druids had limited abilities, at least the plants they planted survived, even if their life force was weak.

But they weren’t concerned – after all, isn’t there a Nature Warlock next to them stronger than the Archdruid!

Hill kept his floating castle hovering behind the inn in the sky, a spot he always kept open for himself.

Although the north side was Lynn’s Mayor’s Mansion and the south was the Sword Mountain Range, the east still connected to the forest park where the undead tribe resided.

So his Dawn began with the calls from below.

”Hill~ Hill~ give us a Nature’s Blessing~”

”This is your city too! Good Hill~ our task is completed, your city has become more beautiful~ What a wonderful start~”

”Hill~ save the poor child~ I’m already bankrupt~ desperately need the task reward to save me~”

Soon, the messy shouting from below consolidated into the cries of ’save the child’.

Hill quickly couldn’t stand this disturbance, flying irritably into the sky, he directly rushed over and granted a Nature’s Blessing.

In fact, he was going to do that anyway – how could Hill stand idly by while a large number of plants around him died?

But these undead were too cunning.

Among the cheering below, Hill returned to the floating castle with a displeased expression. These undead were using him as a tool all too conveniently!

Or more like, they already understood Hill very well, knowing exactly what to say to get his help.

Hill even suspected that these undead had set up summoning keywords for themselves.

Back in his study, Hill soon saw a pile of letters sent by List.

”What’s this? Whose letters?” Hill asked with some puzzlement. Most of the correspondences related to state affairs were sent to Lynn, and List would normally handle the routine requests for audiences.

With the newly entered ’Teraxil Elves’, the nations and cities of the Ferun Great Land were mostly watching. Other than them, there were very few who were qualified to deliver letters directly to Hill.

How could so many pop up all at once?

”You’ve forgotten, although the ’Teraxil Elves’ have mixed beliefs, they are elves after all,” List said with a gentle smile. ”Besides, that city just started building; ordinary people wouldn’t guess that the city could be built in one night.

They think we will summon elves from all over the world here since this is Coron’s will.

These are letters from the Elf Deity System and some churches with elven followers, written by the Pope himself.

They hope to help while building their own temples in Agleya City.”

Hill picked up some letters and looked at them: ”First, ask the Temporal Artifact, then have that messenger ask Coron — we don’t handle these matters.”

Sure enough, the more one gets involved with this world, the more troubles come in heaps.
